A beautiful and spacious park with a conservatory (small entrance fee of just $2/person), Sunken Garden (no entrance fee) - with lighted water fountains that constantly change colors in the evening (pictures taken outside of gate) playground/open play areas, staffed swimming area (during pool hours, of course!). A Pokémon Go hot spot with multiple Poké stops (3 of them within a block just at Shelby Street entrance - the Garfield Park branch library is one of them) and a couple gyms. Multiple entrances and parking lots/areas make it very accessible to practically everyone. As with just about any park, weather/seasons affect hours and availability of certain services.

This is a huge historic park in Indianapolis with so much to do! So many amenities: sand volleyball courts, baseball diamonds, swimming pool, tennis courts, three playgrounds, a conservatory, sunken garden, soccer fields, several rentable shelters for parties, an amphitheater that hosts rock/indie concerts as well as free symphonies, Shakespeare plays and other free concerts....movies in the park, multiple festivals (Tator Tot and Beer Fest, Chalk Fest, Fountain Fest, Mutt Strutt), an indoor gym for basketball and martial arts, an art gallery thats packed on First Fridays ....theres really just a ton of variety and things going on every single week!

A nice warm green getaway in the middle of dreary winter. The actual conservatory may not be very big but there is a lot going on inside. Plenty of different foliage and flowers to enjoy seeing and to consider using for ones own gardening delights. The secret oasis is a waterfall flowing into a large koi pond. With this special feature you get the sounds, along with all the sights, to mentally whisk you away to a tropical haven. The outdoor gardens in the spring and summer are very educational and full of ideas for anyone and everyone. Also the admission price cant be beat!

Its so great. Honestly one of the Crown Jewels of the Indy Park system. Obviously youll visit the Conservatory (a measly $4 entry fee for one of the most relaxing spots in the city) and the Sunken Garden, which has beauty and calm year round. Theres a ton of outdoor space, playgrounds, an Art Center, and they even host special events at the Amphitheater built a hundred years ago. Easy access too--links to the Pleasant Run Trail which connects to the Cultural Trail and Irvington. So hop on your bike and get down there!

Garfield Park is Amazing,go the conservatory where you will find trees and plants mostly South America, and next to the conservatory you will find the "Sunken Garden" witch should be visit ii the spring and summer the three fountains are on and its has a array of planted flowers. The Swimming Pool is on East side of the park. There are Plays musicale gigs played there. Its so much to do in the Spring and Summer,go into any of the buildings and someone will be happy to help..."DO INDY"

I really love this park but be aware that there are lots of moles here so the ground can be unsettled where they dig and I think they are preventing smaller trees making it to their adult stage. I would love to see more garden areas to the park. There are lots of open spaces that could be utilized differently to improve the appeal and beautify the landscape. Its A+ but why settle and let it deteriorate....keep it thriving.

We were not able to enter the Conservatory due to closing for National Holiday. What we could see from the windows, the facility looks impressive. Will attempt to return another day. Was not impressed by the Sunken Gardens. Well maintained grounds, but would rather rename as Sunken Lawns. There is a lack of actual gardens and large grass lawns in place. The old photos show a more impressive garden than todays venture.

Its not in the best area but not in the worst either. Its beautiful and a nice place to just unwind. If youre with the kids, its a perfect place to let them release their energy. This park has a lot to offer. I enjoy spending time here. To meditate, hug trees and be in a country type setting in the heart of Indianapolis. Close to the ever growing Fountain Square area.

Its big so its hard to feel over crowded. Theres tons of trees and shade. Its really pretty especially the sunken garden that has fountains. Theres a creek with a few bridges that are pretty cool. There are 3 play area. The art center has events for everyone. There are free concerts in the amphitheater. Its just really cool.

Such a wonderful unknown gem of Indy. We live in the area and are always quick to take our guests over to view the gardens. The Sunken Gardens can be viewed for free. The Conservatory is affordable at $2 a person. I would recommend this for all ages. Theres even fish for the little ones to be entertained by!

This park is beautiful! It was first built in the late 1800s and is still active today! The park has many free events open to the public, just call or drive by. Great for Pokemon Go players and plenty of Poke stops as well. Go get some fresh air and enjoy Garfield Park!

The conservatory, pool, playgrounds, etc. at this location are all kept conditioned rather well. I cant find anything to complain about in regards to this park. It is a great place to spend a day with your loved ones or in quiet mediation. I recommend giving it a shot.

Lovely park. The oldest and most historic in Indianapolis. So much to see and do here. From a swimming pool to an amphitheatre, botanical gardens and small art gallery, you will find something that you enjoy at Garfield Park alongside the Pleasant Run Creek and Trail.

Nice park with lots of paths and trails to enjoy. Spread out over several acres to really get a good walk or run in a safe environment. They do have tables scattered around if you want to grab a group of friends and have a get together...or a picnic for two.

Went to the reptile and amphibian show and had a great time! We had never been to the conservatory before, so checking out the plants were an unexpected delight. It is a great place to take young kids because it is not too big and overwhelming for them.

One of the best parks Around Indianapolis. The sunken gardens are a must visit in the summer. The sledding hill is always crowded after a good snow. The conservatory is full of tropical plants and animals. Great place to visit in the winter.

Love Garfield park. Historic, beautiful, serene, clean, well-maintained, Garfield is the total package. One of the best places in the city to take a walk, have a picnic, or to take the kids so they can run off some energy.
