After hearing such good things about this golf course, I was floored by how my friends and I were treated when we decided to head over for a round. My friends and I hit off the 1st tee on a day when it was 95 degrees outside and not another golfer in sight. As we approached the 1st green the Golf Pro on duty that day, Jon Stutz, drove up in a golf cart and started screaming at us for playing too slow. Granted none of us are great golfers, but we have golfed dozens of times on multiple courses and have never been asked to speed up our play. I was also amazed how Jon could have properly gauged our rate of play before we completed a single hole. Even more shocking is that when we attempted to reason with Jon, his next statement was "If you dont pick it up, Im calling the cops and will have you removed from the course"!!! Anyway, this could be a much longer story, but in the spirit of keeping this review short, just know that you are not likely to be treated well at this course. There are plenty of other great courses in the area...so steer clear of Purgatory!

Every golfer should have the opportunity to play a course that provides cause for reflection. Thoughtfully designed, Purgatory provides a canvas for golfers to understand how to interact with a course. Purgatory is soberingly different than other courses in undulation, length, use of hazards, and opportunities to be intentional with each shot. There are no uninspired throw-away holes on this track (it is worth it to check out the yardage book on their site). From every tee box, there is a fair opportunity to be fairly challenged appropriate to your handicap (and creativity). This is a course by which all others are measured for those who have played it. Value for greens fees, practice facilities, course condition, estimated waits, overall experience, is unmatched in the Midwest, and the GPS enabled carts help keep the player informed and the pace of play moving. It is a course that can be walked, and the giant log cabin clubhouse is a welcome retreat at the end of the experience.

We used Purgatory as our reception venue were not disappointed! The staff, especially the coordinators, were amazing. They understand the stakes for weddings and receptions, so they were on top of it. But, most importantly, they were there when we tried to contact them and treated us like we were the most important group/party theyve had, even though they do many of these.

Not sure what this guys beef is with Jon Stutz, but he is about the nicest person you will ever meet. I highly doubt what "anonymous" wrote. That said, Purgatory is an AWESOME golf course and the staff is top notch. You cannot go wrong with a day at Purgatory GC....one of my favorite courses of all time.

Great facilities, challenging course. The many tees allow you to play distinct courses each time. OK for 10+ handicappers, fun otherwise.

Nicest course I have played in Indiana so Far. Price was kind of high but the course was very enjoyable and in great shape.
