Pine Meadow had been on my personal list of top 5 favorite public courses in the Chicago area since it opened in 1986. I played it today for the first time in a few years. Sorry to say, I was disappointed. The course design and scenery all rate 5 stars. The fairways and tees are in very good shape – 4 stars. However, the greens rate 1 star – brutally slow and shaggy. I would compare the green conditioning to a cheap muni. To be fair, the greens are interestingly designed and bunkered – however conditions are awful. My experience with the rangers in the past has been similar to other reviewers – they could use a little more customer savvy. It won’t take much for Pine Meadow to climb back into my top 5 list. I can live with the gruff rangers, but I can’t live with the poor green conditions. Until the greens come back, I’ll look to play one of the many other fine courses in the Chicago area. Steeplechase, White Deer Run, and Stonewall Orchard are all excellent choices as another reviewer suggested. I also like Schaumburg for the price….and it’s a course easily walked.

Heres my issue... Pine Meadows is a wonderful course. I would have given them more stars if it wasnt for the individual at the turn. We tee off at 7:46am on 9-27-15 for my fathers birthday. The people behind us are about a hole and a half back by the turn. The employee keeping time at the turn has the balls to say to us "we better pick up the pace or well be asked to leave, were 10 minutes behind their 2 hour limit!" ASKED TO LEAVE!? Good luck with that! For almost $100 per person with a cart and no one waiting behind us, you deem that to be an appropriate way to treat your patrons? First time there and last time. There are far better courses for $100 that wouldnt even dream of having the nerve to speak to us like that. Thanks for the memories Pine Meadows. I really appreciate your mistreatment.

This course was nice at one time but not last weekend. The greens are dead in spots scalped , not to mention in they are the worst greens I have played on all year. I complained when I came off the course and the gentleman gave ame a card to call Dennis Johnsen to let him know what I thought of the course. He very rudely said nothing was wrong with the course and that I was the only complaint they have had all weekend. If you want to pay $100 dollars and play a $50 course go for it. For the money Stonewall Orchard is by far a better course, condition and people. As for Dennis Director of golf Operations at Pine Pastures he is a real tool.

I live nearby, but played Pine Meadow for the first time in October 2016. The course isnt hugely challenging, which is good for me since Im not a skilled golfer. It was in pretty good shape. Staff was friendly. Not giving it 5 starts because of the price. This course should be priced lower, all things considered. Seems it still wants to charge a premium price for a golf experience thats about average. Steeple Chase in nearby Mundelein is probably a bit nicer for less money, and Thunderhawk in Beach Park - truly an excellent, and very challenging course - is a few notches above Pine Meadow.

Make it four in a row for a low value rating. The grounds are beautiful, the fairways are pretty good, but the greens are awful - 3 or 4 of them are virtually unplayable. Then theres the ranger, or "Players Assistant" - lets call him "Dick". We were 2 holes ahead of the nearest group behind us and on the13th hole we got "You want the bad news fellas?... You are WAY behind pace." Really??? Theyve got $300 worth of green fees that they hassle for being 2 holes ahead?? I wont be back. Steeplechase, White Deer Run, Stonewall Orchard are all better picks in the area.

I have been at Pine Meadow Golf Club for a long time now and it will continue to be that way. Staff-Have made me feel welcome and have made relationships with me. Mr. Johnsen has been great with junior golf and especially the PGAJLG. Also, the private instructors have been fabulous. Food-Good Course- Very pretty with lots of wildlife. Greens are a tad slow but easily adjustable to. Wide course but still provides a great challenge Practice Facility- Easily the best in the area. A great driving range and chipping/pitching areas

I played September 23rd and this course was a real treat. It let me go big out of the tee-box and made me use about every club in my bag. The course was in pretty good condition following a week of rain and spots that were either flooder or under maintenance were marked off. The rangers were very helpful and informative and the clubhouse had the best golf course hotdog Ive ever had (no joke). Price was pretty good since we played during the week and I really felt like I got my moneys worth as opposed to some other area courses.

Course is not worth $85+ they charge! Do not waste your money. No organization, poor service and even the golf balls are marked up 20% more than usual. Traps are not raked, halfway house closed, and no cart girl, because, "not enough traffic!!!" The back nine took over 2 and a half hours!!! The course was flooded (and I dont know why....) Much better course just down the street called Steeplechase which was $30 cheaper and 3 times the course. Go to that course, its beautiful.

Loved the layout and condition of the course despite having almost a foot of rain over the last month. Every hole out there is different, makes you shape shots and the greens are well bunkered. Dont be deep as a lot of greens are tipped back to front. I would say the price on the weekends is a little steep considering they dont have GPS on the carts which would make pace of play speed up, as well as give someone whos not played the course before more info.
