I the park and the hiking trails. There are so many great things about Pere Marquette. But the lodge really disappointed me. We went for two nights stay, and because we ordered a romance package for the first night (which is listed on the website as champagne, a $50 dinner voucher, and one pound of chocolate all for $70), we had to book over the phone rather than online per Pere Marquettes policy. Well, we never got a confirmation email and then when we arrived, we had champagne and not a pound of chocolate, but meats, cheeses and crackers that had been sitting out for hours. No refrigerator in the room to store them. Our key cards did not work the second night because they thought we were only staying for one night. So they charged me an extra $109, when I was under the impression that the first $235 was for both nights and the romance package. Of course there was no confirmation email sent, because it wasnt booked online and instead had to be booked over the phone (you would think this wouldnt matter), so I had to shell out far more money for less than I was promised. Very disappointed. Very frustrating. Would not recommend staying in the lodge, because you arent guaranteed what youre paying for.

While not perfect, it is a beautiful getaway along the Great River Road, and we do go back every year. The workers are friendly, and the rooms are comfortable. The lobby of the lodge is the great gathering place and it would be nice to have couches that were a bit more comfy than the rustic hard, green leather ones that are in use now. There is always background music playing also which distracts from the peaceful feel of the lodge. It seems unnecessary. After having used the restrooms by the conference rooms, it is a bit unlikely I would book a meeting or group gathering there. The toilet paper is literally see-through, and they definitely needed some work done to them. Its little things like that which stand out, especially to women. The rooms are nice, but there is no microwave, refrigerator, or DVD player. In the cabin rooms, the fireplaces have been boarded over which seems like not the best idea. STILL, we love it anyway and will continue to go back for the beauty of the area.

Yes its pricey. Yes its quiet.yes it seems average , ho hum, outdated maybe.... Yes its all those... But its a great getaway, and no obnoxious kids running all over the place....so perfect for someone wanting to relax. Its quiet. I have gone here every spring break with my family for a weekend throughout my younger years. Hiking trails, scEnic great room, I have stated in both the lodge and cabin, its so much more fun in the cabin, and its slightly larger although they state otherwise in brochure... Tennis court, sauna, hot tub. Just so many memories can be made here., you just have to create them ! So pack a picnic basket, make some trail mix, and take a hike! My negative comment is the food is boring bland and way overpriced. We always brought a couple a coolers with our own stuff. I hope this helps your decision! Im gonna go back soon... I miss pere marquette lodge!

Overall, the experience was mediocre. Very beautiful location and main conference center and nice service people, but there is absolutely no cell service for any of the top 4 providers, there was no refrigerator in the cabin room, and the Wi-Fi was subpar. There was no Ethernet port in the room and there were only 2 Kierig coffees available for a room of 5. It would have been nice to know beforehand that housekeeping doesnt provide new sheets or make the bed if any personal items (clothes, headphones, charger, etc) are left on the bed. There are 2 rooms per cabin joined by back-to-back, lockable, privacy doors, which was fine, but we could hear everything in the adjoining room...everything. Water pressure was nice. Cabin room parking was excellent. I wasnt fond of being charged for a 5% tourism tax on top of the 6% sales tax per room per night.

Cabin was nice although it didnt have a fridge. Guaranteed not to have cell phone service from any provider. Wifi was pretty slow and spotty but at least they had wifi. An Ethernet port would have been nice to have. Our cabin was connected to another through a door which would have been cool if we were all part of a group but we didnt know our neighbors, and we can hear everything in the adjacent room. Everything. I left my ear plugs and charger cable on my bed when I left for the day and came back with a note that said they didnt make my bed because they didnt want to disturb my stuff. Its a policy I understand, but would have been nice to know before hand. In a cabin for 4 people (5 with pullout) there were 2 regular coffee servings and 1 decaf.. a big hotel sin in my book. Interactions with staff were pleasant.

Lousy Service. Went to Pere Marquette Lodge for lunch with my family on Labor day. At just 1pm in the afternoon they were already out of mushroom burgers which was a big problem for the vegetarian in our party because they had no other vegetarian entrees. The place was only maybe 1/3 full but service was incredibly slow; it took ~40min just to get bread. The waiter seemed was definitely uncomfortable and seemed to be avoiding us. When I did manage to flag him down he made the excuse that the kitchen was still baking our bread. Whether or not it was true, our experience was terrible. When service is that slow, the only two things I want to hear are "Were very sorry" and maybe "Can I interest you in a round of drinks on the house?". The waitstaff should be trying to make us comfortable, not covering their own a##.

Great stuff. Wonderful grounds. Got there at 1:30 for a wedding that night and room wasnt ready. Check-in is at 3pm so we were hoping to get in early after long drive. Told to wait and check back every 15 minutes. The room did not get ready til 3pm. They could have told us that right away or taken our number and called when ready. Also we reserved in historic wing due to recommendation of reservstionist to get better view. Our room ended up being in a corner and all we saw was room looking out of room 225. Very disappointed in room placement. The wedding was excellent . The restaurant was very good also.woud go back but probably get cabin. Glad we didnt for wedfing since we were told they were only 20 ft from lodge.

We have stayed here twice. Our first experience was wonderful. However, last year in April we went back. It was very disappointing. There were large, outside, non-paying groups visiting guests, taking over the Great Room, monopolizing the seating, cooking, drinking, being loud. Children were riding their bikes and kicking soccer balls around in The Great Room all weekend. We went there for some peace and quiet. The management didnt care when we asked for some "control" over the chaos. Told us "well, schools out". Of course school was out! It was Saturday and Sunday! I wrote a note regarding our experience and never got a response. I doubt we will ever go back.

Went there for lunch, and was terribly disappointed; our saving grace was our waitress, who profusely apologized for the kitchen. It took way too long to get our food; tables after us had gotten their plates and finished before we ever got ours, and we didnt order anything complicated. Whichever chef came up with the concept of the vegetarian dishes...mashed potatoes do not make a burger. I had a very sad portobello, stuffed with rice that was undercooked; I took the filler out and combining the garnish on my parents plates, was able to make it edible. The sweet potato fries were cold and limp. Thank goodness our waitress was so great! (only reason I gave it two stars)
