There are thousands of butterflies and they are EVERYWHERE inside the glass enclosure. It is beautiful but not for everyone. It is NOT, absolutely not a place for children under the age of 10. Clear instructions are given not to grab butterflies, swat at butterflies, and to be totally respectful of the butterflies and certainly do not STEP on them even though they are EVERYWHERE and that includes the walkways. My 5 year old was very frightened of them and ducked throughout our "walk" and the 2 year old nearly stepped on several of them. It was like going through a land mine field with these 2 small kids. Not fun for any of us for the above reasons, so we left within 10 minutes. Not fun for my little guys, nor for me as I had to "police" the 2 year old because he is prone to stumbling and I had to make sure he did not touch or step on any of them. The 5 year old was "creeped out" by the sheer numbers of butterflies everywhere. We will go back, but it will be years from now. Truly this is not for little children for the sakes of the butterflies.

My family and I have made four visits to the Butterfly house over the years. It never disappoints! We love the atmosphere and there are hundreds of butterflys. Our favorite is the Blue Morpho. Our kids loved it when they were 9 and 6 and they still loved it at 19 and 16. I think we have all had at least one butterfly land on us each visit. Dont touch them though, just wait for them to fly off on their own. The other exhibits of spiders and beetles are also very nice and the outside area is full of butterflies in season. Like most other St Louis attractions, it is very reasonably priced. My family became members of Missouri Botanical Garden last year, so admission to the Butterfly House was free. That is a great perk.

This review is for the Butterfly House as an event venue...The Butterfly House was a fantastic venue for our wedding. It’s beautiful, accommodates a diverse assortment of guests’ needs well, and is generally logistically simple. Stephanie was amazing, and a treat to work with. Our only criticism was that the venue schedules its events very, very close together, which caused some planning difficulties for other vendors working on the day of the wedding. These vendors made it work, but it’s worth noting if you have vendors who are not able to deal with the extremely tight schedule.

Amazing. I didnt expect to enjoy it as much as I did. The live butterfly area was just beautiful. The butterflies are able to land right on you, do if you have anyone who isnt a fan, they might want to skip that part. They have exhibits that come and go, and the scorpions were there when we went. They were set up in a dark room, and we were given blacklight flashlights so we could witness how they glow! Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable. Their gift shop was also very nice.

Would not recommend for a field trip!! Very disorganized and difficult to get a group around 50 through. The butterflies and plant life are beautiful, but we ended up leaving early because we were concerned about getting separated from kids. We also visited the St. Louis Carousel, in which the man working was very rude to the parents in our group regarding tickets and entry time. The kids had a fun day, which was the main thing, but we will not be taking any more trips to this location.

Its a great place for the kids. wear comfortable clothes and nothing too heavy, cause its super hot in the glass covered area. Baby strollers are not allowed, so I suggest to make sure you have a Kangaroo if going with babies. pack stuff for a picnic and you can spend the day. In addition to the Butterfly house, the kids can play in the playground and the carrossel at Faust Park. Playground is always crowded by the summer, but everything is well taken care and clean.

Where do I start? Watching beautiful sunsets, lounging poolside at the private pool, the peace of mind of being in a secure private gated community, friendly security personnel, the Dream Weekend parties that were happening in the area, the private beach, the beautiful back yard with the views of the water and boaters speeding by, the GAZEBO - which is my favorite spot of the house. I could go on forever about how amazing this...

My son and Daughter-in-law had their Wedding Reception at The Butterfly House Fall/October 2013 and it was amazing, the wedding photos are spectacular. They provided a heated tent, with access to all the green houses for guest to tour as the wedding party took photos on the beautiful grounds, and with the Butterflies. A great place for them to take their children on future visits.

Visited this weekend with two of our grandchildren; we enjoyed it as much as they - and learned as much as well. We watched the video which was helpful. Combine the Butterfly House with nearby attractions - the St Louis Carousel, the playground, and the reconstructed old town, and you a terrific afternoon of entertainment for youngsters.

Inexpensive admission and a chance to see the lovely butterflies. Inside Faust park with picnic spots, playground, carousel, and historic village. Outdoor butterfly garden for local butterflies available when weather is better. Especially nice in winter time because the butterfly area is so warm. Kids birthday parties available.

Glad I didnt have to drag my kids out this year because they were terrified of the butterflies! Lol I love the Butterfly House. The staff is amazing, always more than helpful, and they always seem to teach us something new everytime we go. Butterflies are super creepy to me, but I try to be strong for my kids! Haha

Wonderful place to take the kids. Amazing variety of tropical butterflies in a green house setting. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Outdoor area is also weel kept and fun to explore. There is a cost of admission, which is a little higher than I expected, but well worth the visit.

You have to pay admission just to get in the building. I did not want to see the butterflies, but I did want to see the garden and look around the gift shop. The lady at the front was less than polite about explaining this. I told her that I will never come here again.

Beautiful place to just unwind and enjoy nature. I took my 9mo old and she was able to notice a butterfly for the first time. There are sooo many butterflies of different species all around you. You cant go wrong taking children to this place or just coming yourself.

Fun place, lots of butterflies. Small gift shop and info section. Friendly staff. Heads up, super HOT and humid if youve never been. Interesting place to kill an hour with kids. Great outdoor park/ indoor carousel near by to make it an entire afternoon.
