We visited in early August with three young children, 7 and younger. The Interpretive Center has a huge variety of reptiles that kept them occupied for a long time. We were all particularly impressed by the alligator snapping turtle. It really captured our kids imaginations. We also took tours of the Kennicott House and the old fashioned school house. The guides did a great job highlighting facts and details for us. The Log Cabin was being renovated when we went, but we will definitely be back to check it out. When we walked the trails around the nature center we saw some pretty unusual insects and a family of deer grazing in a shady grove. The only thing we did not like about this place was the "Back 50." One of the guides told us it was "gorgeous". On the map there are some bodies of water marked in blue. Those bodies of water were actually green, fetid swamps. I think they used a more scientifically accurate term to describe the ecosystem but, basically it was a swamp. And a breeding ground for mosquitoes. Our kids all had mosquitoes swarming around them the whole time. If youre visiting in the spring/summer and havent sprayed yourself thoroughly with some deep woods insect repellent, then skip the Back 50. If there was anything of note to see here, we missed it because we were trying to get out of there as fast as we could. Other than that, it was the perfect way to spend a late summer afternoon and its all free!

My wedding venue was at Redfield Estate/The Grove. Working with the staff in planning and organizing our wedding day was very predictable and efficient. They have clear guidelines of what you can and cannot do that they will explain this right away so there are no surprises. All questions are always answered completely. The flexibility of wedding ceremony/receptions on the estate is absolutely amazing and we could not have been happier with our outdoor wedding. The facilities are clean and very accessible. The staff was exceptionally attentive on our wedding day. We were frequently asked if there was anything else that was needed and the staff was always available. I highly recommend Redfield Estate/The Grove for an outdoor wedding venue.

Glenview’s little gem nestled in a hidden corner, surrounded by such beautiful foliage and natural beauty. I can’t believe how I missed this, living in the area for the last 15 years. Such a well-maintained historical and natural reserve. They give tours and demonstrations frequently and are very eager to answer questions. Did a full walk of the preserve (except the Redfield Estate, since it was closed off for a wedding). Definitely recommended if you are into nature walks and things of local, historical value!

Pack a picnic and bring the family here. Enjoy the wide open space. The nature center has live animals to keep the kids busy for an hour or two. These is a wall with tanks that have live fish found in the midwest. There is also large area with live turtles that you can watch while they eat or take a nap.

What an amazing place in an urban environment. Great place to bring the kids. Displays and people to explain those displays. Live animals both inside and outside. Trails around the whole place. In the summer with all the vegetation you barely here traffic from the nearby roads. This place is great!

Went on a field trip with my daughters class. It was very informative. The kids seemed to really enjoy it, and it was fun seeing them in the school house. Some of the guides were much more informative than others. I think Miss Finn was a favorite.

Awesome place to walk around and see nature. I have seen deer wandering the property. There is a nature center with turtles, snakes, fish and birds. One huge turtle is well over 100 years old. Love visiting this place with my kids.

Do not take your family here. They are not family friendly and made my daughter cry. Truly horrible experience.
