If you have the time, wealth and patience for terrible customer service, this is the club for you. I was very excited about the private pilates lessons, but most of the customer service employees who book the reservations never knew how to make a reservation for pilates and it was always a hassle (i.e. had to call back some other day when someone else was at the desk). Once I made reservations, my instructor was a no-show. And they charged me for the lesson! (No apology ever received from the instructor.) Month after month of being charged more than I actually owed for services I never used, I canceled my membership. I was just tired of policing the East Bank Club and having to call all the time to ask for erroneous charges to be reversed (which always took at least two billing cycles and a lot of time wasted arguing with people) than I did enjoying the facilities (which are admittedly nice). When I finally did cancel, they continued withdrawing 295 dollars per month from my bank account. I kept calling and writing and though they said theyd take care of it, I have yet to get this resolved. Far from being relaxing or enjoyable, this Club added a lot of stress to my life.

One of the best clubs in the country in terms of customer service and satisfaction and I know because Im in the industry. Many of the industry leaders visit this place as the gold standard in the US. Great food for an incredible price. And did I mention customer service. These guys are actual fitness and service professionals. There is equipment for everyone wether youre an athlete, bodybuilder, power lifter, or just getting into health and fitness. Best part is everyone is respectful. The pool deck and the bar is awesome during the summer as well. One of the best places to network and meet new people. This club has it all. Price is only an issue at the absence of value and this place has so much Id pay more to stay a member.

Why I joined: I loved the interior architecture, the Art all over that shows many Chicago Artists at the Active Figure finest and funniest (the "Trying" guys above Maxwells Bar!) the members & guests who actually wear the clothes one sees in shops, the food that is deeelishus and good for you, and after 9 membership years, the intelligence of the interior spaces...the thoughfully chosen materials, division of spaces, furniture, just get more of my admiration. These are important environmental reasons that envelope the person and make me feel better before I even exercise. I can vacation 365 days a year @ the EBC Resort !

Worst Management - Simon Meredith. I went to visit this club since I just moved into the area. I met with a guy named Eric. At first Eric seemed nice and courteous until he opened his mouth and started saying big lies. "Oh yes, Obama comes here all the time. And Oprah.. This is her favorite place." Well, its 2012, and we all know neither Obama not Oprah live in Chicago.... What kind of Stupid people work and workout here. GOOD BYE EBC. NEVER. A Bunch of Liars at EBC. I heard so many bad things about this place and I still went there to give them the benefit of the doubt. What a waste of my time. What a shame!!!

Eastbank is basically an indoor country club, its way more than a gym. The club is amazing, the facilities are amazing and there are a lot of great classes to choose from but I deducted two stars because its ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS that the best and most modern styles of workout classes are not included in the already extortionately high member fees. That is just cheeky beyond belief. For example Equinox and Lakeshore both offer Tabata classes for free whilst Eastbank charges members extra for them. (Also all the toiletry products on offer at Equinox are super high end, whilst Eastbanks are nameless generics).

This is not a health club - its a country club. Great 1/4 mile rack with nice window views of river and city. Multiple basketball courts (and plenty of balls so you dont need to bring your own), Seven indoor tennis courts! One of the few clubs in the city with squash courts. Very nice pools indoors and out with huge sundeck on roof. Great food options, excellent locker room with several TVs and clean spacious showers. Very diverse age range, and just a great atmosphere. Its more money than most clubs, but is an incredible value when you consider everything you get.

This gym is my guilty pleasure. I call it a cruise ship on land! I honestly go there and dont feel like i am in downtown Chicago. It is my escape from the busy world and I love it. People may judge because it is an $ monthly fee, but it is well worth it. If you go 4 times a week it is the same price of being a member of a yoga studio + you get the benefits of all of the gym. My one piece of advice is not to charge money on your membership card for food etc. Just pay as you go!

This is the place to be if you want to meet the hottest gold diggers and Chicagos finest strippers and bottle girls. If youre married and looking to trade up to a newer younger model come by and bring your tax returns and theyll tell you what you qualify for. Be prepared and ready to strut around like a peacock for attention though. You must talk loudly about your sports cars and boats to get any attention. The weights are okay if thats what youre looking for.

My family has been going to this club since 8 years ago and its truly the best/ top notch gym ever! They have hundreds of free / low cost exercise programs for all ages from 0 to 100. When you think about all these benefits, around $400 monthly fee for whole family is worthy every penny. There are too many good things to mention, so I recommend to check out their website or have a tour. BEST Gym/Club for families or everybody.

Been here for quite a few years and really enjoy the facility. Staff and trainers are really nice too. The only complaint is the very pretentious members who all are "very important". If you want to work out, be a little social, this is the place to go in Chicago, but remember; the pool is not vegas in the summer so leave the high heels and skimpy swim suits at home!

Quite a remarkable place, literally something for everyone. Weights, classes, tennis, golf, pools, dry cleaning... A few modernizing updates would be terrific: more consistent wifi club-wide, an app vs just a mobile site so you could get rid of your ID card, and wider walkways/stairways are a few small things that would make a big difference.

20 year member of the EBC so obviously I like it. However I do find it strange that given the price of the club, they often charge for newer exercise series classes. I mean really, what is different about them vs an aerobics or pilates class. It really just dates the club to say - ahha - but you have to pay even more for something new.

No one come close to this health club, especially or the money. Ive looked at most of the large gyms in Chicago and found this one to be the best bang for the buck. Brand new equipment, lots of space, great outdoor area, 3+ pools in/outside, fantastic food, lots of eye candy and list goes on.
