DO NOT COME HERE, ESPECIALLY IF YOU WANT TO BRING A DOG. Awful experience here. We started by calling to see if dogs were allowed. They replied with, "Yes, they are allowed here." So we show up with our 5 month old english cream retriever, who is an extremely submissive puppy. She literally lays on her back and tucks her tail every time she meets another dog. Another dog (Unleashed dog) comes over to say hello to our puppy and then all of a sudden snaps and latches onto our puppys throat. I had to jump in and pry the other dog off of mine, while nobody claims ownership of the other dog. The "manager" as she calls herself, comes over, gives a simple, stoic, "Im sorry" and says "Its ok, shes fine." I then ask if it was her dog, she says no, so I ask who the owner was and where they were. She says the dog is the property owners dog and the owner is out of town. I ask for the owners name and phone number, she says the only thing she will give me is to email the vineyard (contact@cartecayvineyard…). I go over to get our money back for the wine we just bought so we can leave, since they were so rude about our dog getting attacked, and find out that the owner is actually right in front of the entrance, with his dog on his vehicle now. I ask him if it was his dog and if he is the owner, and he begins being very aggressive towards myself, my girlfriend, and other customers. He says that he is the "part-owner" of the property and the owner of the dog. I tell him that his dog just attacked mine and that it needs to be on a leash. Not once did the guy apologize, say he would leash his dog, or anything remotely polite or how a business owner should act. He insisted that his dog did not attack mine (there were about 10 other people that saw it happen and came up to us after it happened to see if our dog was OK) and was just being extremely rude. He then went on to say "Our dog lives on this property and runs around without a leash on. Why would you even come here with another dog and what do you expect if you bring another dog here to where our dog lives?" He was extremely combative in insisting that we were in the wrong for bringing our dog to the property and the it was our 5 month old puppys fault for getting attached by their unleashed dog. Side note: This guy was also drunk and drinking some light canned beer. What kind of business owner would drink/be drunk at their own place of business? Also, if they were going to have a drink, they must really be ashamed of their wine if they would rather have a cheap beer instead of their wine. I wouldnt be caught dead drinking at my place of business, and if I did have a drink around customers, it would definitely be the wine that I make there. This just screams amateur, immature ownership and management. Back to the story, after the owner was extremely rude, and begins to not only argue with us and be rude to us, the guy starts arguing with other customers that were there. We told him that we just wanted our money back so that we could leave. We hadnt even taken a sip of the drinks we bought yet. The owner storms off and says "Ill give you your d**n money back if you give us our wine back." I said thats fine. We just wanted to leave at this point after being treated so poorly by the business owner. After we go inside to get our money he tells the people working inside (Who were being very nice) to "Give them their money back so they will shut the h**l up and get out of here." What kind of rude business owner would say something like that to guests? All we wanted was some kind of apology for their off-leash dog attacking ours and to put their dog on a leash so that ours, or somebody elses dog, didnt get attacked again. I also encourage others to write their own poor experiences about this place, especially if it has to do with the rude ownership/management.

Excellent --- We visited the Cartecay Vineyard on a cold dreary day. The staff was warm and friendly. My friend and I both paid $8 each to sample 5 different wines. The samples were very generous, and the wines were really good. I especially liked their White Muscadine Wine. It was sweet and refreshing. Ive lost my desire for bitter red wines. After the tasting, we bought 3 bottles of wine for home from the Vineeyard Last night several friends came over, and we all enjoyed 2 bottles of the Cartecay Winery. Guess it is time for another trip! I strongly recommend Cartecay Vineyard.

The Vineyard and Winery Association of West Georgia organized a bus tour of two wineries in north Georgia on May 3, 2014. We visited Cartecay Vineyards first and had a delightful time. We got to sample 4 of the wines they had to offer. The wines were only exceeded by the hospitality shown by the owner and staff. The setting is gorgeous and inviting. We highly recommend Cartecay Vineyards as a place to visit when you next head to Ellijay and enjoy the wines and the view.

Alease was super sweet and accommodating with our wine tasting. We arrived just a few minutes before closing and she got the wines back out for us, didnt rush us and was super, super sweet! The wines are great and the customer service and the shop and the tasting room and the vineyard are beautiful! Stop by to meet Alease! Shes a treat!

Cute and unhelpful staff. Its a so called winery, yet the staff cant tell me what ingredients are in their wines...besides that their wines are "made of off wine...grapes." DUH! Yes, some wines contain ingredients other than just grapes...such as animal byproducts.

Beautiful vineyards with decent wines. Went home with the merlot. Had live music playing when we stopped by. Did the full tasting and they have something palatable for everyone from sweet to dry. Still hoping for bigger and more dry reds in the future.

Fun place to spend a Saturday! I went with a group of friends for a weekend trip to the mountains. We spent a few hours here sitting on their patio in amazing weather and listening to live music. They dont have food so take a snack with you.

Have visited here many times. We find it relaxing to buy a bottle of their wonderful wine and sit next to their outdoor fire place. Packing snacks like cheese, wine, and fruit makes for a perfect day trip from Atlanta.

Very quaint winery and nice staff. The Sassy Sisters wine is excellent. If you like Reislings, you will love this wine. Will return again on my next visit.
