We had business/family BBQ party with reserved shelter. Shelter is far-away from main parking lot. So we had to carry a lot heavy coolers and stuff long way to place because they do not allow people use service roads. Well, I understand these rules and let it be while its not user friendly access. We had nice time with many families and around 15 little children (small babies included). Unfortunately at the end of the party we experienced very heavy (I mean VERY heavy) rain. All access roads to shelter where flooded. And 30min. BEFORE park closes park ranger told us to leave park because they want to close. Rain was pouring!!! Two big park trucks were collecting garbage bags and driving around. We asked for chance to use service road (as all garbage trucks using) to help load small babies and heavy stuff into the cars. And they DID NOT ALLOWED to get closer with our cars to load a babies due VERY heavy rain! Park ranger even said that they will call police for trespassing. These IDIOTS put higher priority to use park trucks for picking-up garbage bags instead of helping park guest with small babies to access shelter!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we pushed baby strollers thru flooded park in HEAVY rain while park rangers where driving trucks on the same road. "Thanks" to park crew we reached public parking lot completely soaked with crying babies. Pros: nice park for kayaking, mountain biking. Cons: IDIOTS among park rangers/crew.

Honestly if you enjoy the outdoors and just spending quality time with your family and friends, this is the place for you. Besides the nice beach and natural bike/walking trails it offers, this park has a kayak rental booth that can offer a twist to your adventure. The prices are a bit sharp and expensive, but if your up for the experience it can be well worth it. You can also take your own kayak and launch from the same spot if you like. The rivers you can choose arent much, and for a novice like myself, its a good thing that way I dont get lost too easily. If your brave enough and have the time you can also kayak your way on to the local sandbar to enjoy some salt water or some booze from one of the local boat/bars that always station on the sandbar. I myself enjoy going to the deeper side and free diving in the cool deep waters. Climbing back in the kayak is easier then it sounds. The beach it offers can seem small as it imitates a small gulf and doesnt offer very deep swimming. But that can be good for the kids. It also has barbecues and picnic tables to set up an all day event. If your worried about too much sun there are cabanas you can reserve PRE visit at a cost to ensure your party will fit comfortably. Definitely a place to check out if your ever in town.

This is the best park in Florida, in my opinion! Everyone who like to spend time outdoor and different outdoor activities will love the park! There is something there for everyone to love and enjoy all year round! Besides, I live and work literally 5 minutes away from the park. And I would like to bring to attention of those who love to spend time on the water, whether its fishing, diving, rafting or kayaking, that there is a local business selling Saturn inflatables of all kinds for all your needs. Boatstogo is a local business since 1999 and sold 1000s of boats, kaboats, rafts, kayaks, sup paddle boards and all kinds of accessories! It is located at 1945 NE 149th st North Maimi, 5 minutes away from the Oleta River State Park. I hope this information will be helpful for someone!

I have multiple complaints about it: The first reason I dislike this park because the line to get in the park is ridiculous because it took over 45 minutes just to reach the ranger station, being it was a major holiday. They should have opened the second ranger booth that was available. Next is the parking, its too far from the main picnic area. You have to travel far with heavy items(such as coolers, tents, etc.).The biggest issue is the restrooms. THEY WERE NASTY, COMPLETELY DISGUSTING AND UNSANITARY. All the women had to use the mens bathroom. For the whole SIX hours that my family and I were there, they DID NOT check on the bathrooms to see if they needed cleaning. In which, they were in desperate need. I would not recommend this park to anyone.

Nice state park. Clean. Lots of space. Biking and hiking trails. I went kayaking daily here for a while. Once out of the lagoon the water is sometimes so clear blue you can see the floor way below you. Nice beach area to swim in. Wish they had showers here so that people could wash off after being in the kayak area as tip overs are common and you get wet just by sitting on the sdit on top kayaks. The marsh lagoon smell isnt the greatest once you dry. Showers would be great to be able to wash off. The bike showers didnt work as the timer buttons were broken so were pretty much unusable unless you smashed the buttons hard and held them down with a lot of force.

This place is fantastic there is soo much to do. Whether youre in the mood for kayaking, biking trails , nature trails, camping, and this is probably the best place to do all of this in the immediate area. Kayaking through the mangroves has to be one of the more beautiful Scenic things that you can do here you can actually go ocean kayaking into smaller sandbars and uninhabited islands that make for a great fishing trip with family, kids, significant others, or a fun day out on the water with friends. Best advice I can give you be sure to wear bug repellents as mosquitoes especially out on the biking trails can be very aggressive.
