We went on a weekday, so boat tours and kayaks were not available, but you cant beat free for the price. The elevated walking trails use nice, eco-friendly composite board that will probably last forever without maintenance. Theyre in perfect condition. The mangroves are beautiful, and the little tree crabs are adoreable. Very peaceful way to spend a couple of hours walking. I would have given it 5 stars, except that the education center, $1 admission, was rather sparse. The display aquarium would have been great if it were lit so that you could see into it. The specimen jars and aquariums were cool, but there was very little else to see there. I was expecting more information than they provided. Apart from that...clean, modern restrooms, a vending machine for drinks, and an observation tower with a nice elevator made this a very GOOD place to visit, and get away from the crowds.

Lovely place for a stroll. Im very much an "outdoorsy" nature kind of person and I was sad to find that there was absolutely no wildlife. I saw an Osprey from a far and an juvenile yellow crowned night heron. I was there mid-day and did every trail. What a great little walk on the boardwalk! Also, the observation tower is veryyy cool. I love how you can overlook the entire preserve, it is absolutely beautiful. If you look towards one side you will see the preserve and when you look east, you will see the apartments and the beach. They have 30 minute boat tours for $5 - $10 (I cant remember it was 5 or 10 per person). They also have an exhibit but we didnt go inside - we decided to opt out for that one. This is pretty much the only nature park around the area, so it must be nice for people who live around that area to go out and enjoy some trails.

For a break from the fun and sun on busy Hollywood Beach this is a perfect place to spend an hour or two in much more solitude. Very accessible from Sheridan Drive or A1A. The two boardwalks are easy to walk by young and old alike. Good views from both as well as the lookout tower. One note: if you are looking for an extended hike this is NOT the place. Their south loop trail is poorly marked, has washed out stony surfaces that are hard on feet and in places is difficult to even see where it leads. In fact, that whole area looks totally neglected by Broward County...please avoid!

Loved visiting here. Learned so much about the trees and habitat. The views from the tower are breathtaking. We didnt see too much wildlife though. It may have been because of the season and time of day. We sure did find lots of gnat sized bugs near the water areas that bite annoyingly hard. Found some small black crabs that and a lizard or two. Its so great that this has not been taken over by the housing sprawl. We would have never learned so much about the local habitat.

Very beautiful place. You feel like youre lost in the mangroves (walking on the boardwalk path between the mangroves toward the waters was wonderful!). But...its one of those places that if you werent told about it...you would never know it was there! They have art shows that change monthly and even have a room that can be rented so you can have a catered affair there. It is definitely worth a visit. Im going back, with my kayak, to explore it from the waterside.

It was a very rainy day when we went, in fact no one else was around when we toured the exhibition hall and the walk/observation deck. The top of the deck has bountiful views of the mangroves. We walked the trail on the water and it was quite lovely, as we saw several crabs and a few birds. This is a great conservation haven that nature-minded people should visit. Itd be great to go on a sunny day to use their kayaks.

A taste of Florida nature close to the city. See the birds, crabs and other animal life at this charming spot north of Miami. Easily accessible in every way, even the observation tower has an elevator which allows people in strollers and or in wheelchairs to enjoy the view. Take a boat tour and learn more about wildlife in southern Florida. Well kept and definitely worth a visit if youre in the area.

We got there after hours so we didnt go into the buildings, but we did get to walj along the walkways. All the little crabs were funny and we did get to see some bigger crabs. At the end of the non-fishing trail there is a nice gazebo with seating. You can look out over the lake, it was really beautiful and we got great pictures for our trip. If i come again Ill come to see the buildings.

You cant go wrong, the observation tower and boardwalk through the mangroves are free. Kayak rentals arent too pricey when u consider the awesome area your kayaking through. Its just a peaceful, relaxing place to go if your tired of the beach crowds, Hollywood and Ft Lauderdale traffic and chaotic scenes. I think its pretty cool

Beautiful park! The boardwalk was great and very clean. The tower offered a great view of the mangroves and part of Hollywood. We got mauled by no-see-ums which cut the visit short but thats the way nature plays this time of year. I definitely recommend bug spray. Overall a great place with beautiful views and great trails.

Great place to take a quiet walk, but not as big as some other places. Great place to have a picnic and escape. I enjoy the nature but you never see much more than birds and some abandoned pet cats. The rates for kayak rentals went up, from a few years ago, but still pretty cheap. Great place to bring the kids.

Wonderful place to take the family or enjoy alone. Gorgeous views, peaceful trails, and plenty of chances to spot local wildlife. There is also a small museum that is perfect for children and adults alike to gain a better understanding of the plants and animals that surround them.

If you are up to an adventure, this place is definitely it. There is a dock on the way in, and trails including one leading to North Beach Park. The exhibit is a great cost with friendly personnel. The observation tower offers an amazing view, nice and quite.
