The Waterfall. I would like to preface this review stating there are not enough words to do it justice for how amazing they were to make our wedding into the most memorable day of our lives. When we started looking at venues in the Philadelphia area in late 2015, we stumbled upon The Waterfall on one of the wedding websites, but were unfamiliar with location in Claymont DE. We decided to schedule an appointment to see the venue, and were immediately impressed. The Waterfall had TWO beautifully decorated ballrooms to choose from, and a newly renovated outdoor terrace for a ceremony. The venue wasn’t the only thing that impressed us, but meeting with David (Furst) as well. From the moment he greeted us, you can sense that he was very personable, professional, experienced, and treated everyone with the utmost respect. As we concluded our appointment, my fiancé and I said to ourselves “Did we stumble upon a gem? How could we have not heard of this place before? It’s in Delaware but only a 20 minute drive from Philadelphia!” Every other venue we visited after that pared in comparison to The Waterfall. We decided this is where we would have our wedding, and knew we were in good hands! Throughout the wedding planning process, we kept in touch with David, and bounced ideas with him on what our vision was for the day. Although the ballrooms are already equipped with magnificent décor, lighting, and architecture; my fiancé also wanted to personalize the wedding day with her DIY/Pinterest ideas. I personally felt uneasy about burdening them with decorating The Waterfall with all her DIY crafts, but David was not fazed and encouraged all of her Pinterest ideas! When the big day finally came upon us, I stumbled upon David giving his staff the rundown of the schedule and their assignments. It was evident throughout the evening that The Waterfall worked as a cohesive unit to make the evening a success. Not only did David get his team aligned, but he also worked with our other vendors (DJ/MC, Photo/Videography, Photo Booth) to ensure a seamless transition from ceremony procession through all the reception activities. Lastly, all of the staff were friendly, attentive and efficient, and we only wish we had a chance to thank each of them individually. We specifically would like to thank our bridal attendant MonJay, our captain Lakira, and our Matre’D DeNeen for all their support throughout the day. I hope as you read this review and are considering The Waterfall for your wedding day that you can see how appreciative we are to their team. We have attended almost two dozen weddings in the past 2 years, so our expectations were high – but The Waterfall far exceeded them. The Waterfall. David. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! June 10th 2016 was the date of our event at The Waterfall in Claymont, DE. WOW! What a breathtaking venue and amazing staff the waterfall has. Our event coordinator was extremely helpful from our first visit up until the day of the wedding. David, the general manager, was also fantastic. He was our main contact point for the rehearsal & the day of the event. On to the venue. The grounds are incredible. Dont let the area fool you, you dont feel like youre anywhere near Claymont. The garden ceremony area is beautiful. With new columns and fountains the photo opportunities are amazing. The cocktail room is elegant, well laid out, and FILLED with food! So many options our guests raved about for weeks after the wedding. The staff was attentive, various family members felt like the center of attention; never without a fresh drink or Hors doeuvre. The Grand Ballroom is where we hosted our reception. It is an absolutely gorgeous ballroom! Our lead maître d Kevin continued the great service we experienced throughout the day. Kevin made sure we had everything we needed, accommodated last minute requests, and took care of little things that would pop up throughout the night. The dinner was the only thing that I felt could have been improved. Im sure its difficult to cook steak correct for 150 people and I can’t complain because they really worked hard to make sure everyone was taken care of. The night flowed perfectly and we didnt miss a beat on anything. I can’t stress enough how amazing the Waterfall was and how happy we are that we booked this venue for our wedding. If I had to sum up in three words why we loved the venue I would say “Beautiful, Accommodating, Delicious”. The venue looked amazing, the staff were great the entire time, and our guests raved about the food for weeks! There is not one bad thing to say about The Waterfall. The whole experience from meetings, food tastings, rehearsals, to the big day were absolutely amazing. We cannot thank The Waterfall enough for how amazing they made our special day! Every single person on their staff took the time to personally talk to me and make sure that my husband and I were well taken care of! Our event coordinator, Rachael, made us feel incredibly at ease after some unforeseen circumstances and she even made sure that my favorite food was in the bridal suite as I was getting ready! Wow! She is an incredible person and I would recommend her to anyone! David even took the time to sit with us and make sure that all of our questions were answered. I cant stress enough how comfortable everyone made us feel, which is so important during a time like this. They knew exactly what they were doing and had a plan for everything. It was a relief to know that every situation was handled, and professionally at that! I havent even started about the food yet. Our guests continually told us that they couldnt believe how not only was there such a large amount of food, but everything tasted EXCELLENT! Not only that, but they also told us that it was the best wedding that they have ever been to, from the gorgeous venue, to the incredible food, to the organized and friendly staff! Ive been here a for a few Lions Club events. Its a lovely venue if a little overly ornate. The service staff is friendly, but can be a bit slow and somewhat forgetful at times. The food is fairly good, but can suffer from the sin of "trying too hard." For example, the mystery sauce on the otherwise excellent pork cutlet detracted enhanced the entree. The rolls served were small hoagie rolls instead of dinner rolls. Access/Egress from the road is a bit problematic. The entrance to the parking lot is at the North side of the building and its easy to miss it when approaching from the north, which has the only legal turn into the lot. The only legal exit is a right turn to the South. Otherwise you are crossing a double-double yellow center-line. There is a convenient protected U-turn if you approach from the South, but not when your leaving, so most people just make the illegal left and you can get backed up by traffic at the light at the North Corner. Im not sure what can be done to alleviate this.

You gotta be careful with this place. They were very responsive but once money was fully paid in advance, they were less responsive. Some girl left and other joined and there was a big mess. 10 days before, we had a sad incident and my mother passed away in a heart attack. I nicely asked them if they can either give us another date of their choice to do some other function. It was a lot of money. I asked to give us any day so we dont use their busy day. Here is the response from the general manager: We are so sorry for your loss. Mehesh reached out to me regarding your cancellation and possibly re-booking another event. I spoke with the owners regarding the payments you have already made. Unfortunately since we moved your date once and effectively lost two dates of revenue, we cannot offer to move any of your deposits to a future event. As stated in your contract, all deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable. Again, we are very sorry for your loss and we wish you all the best.
