I love how close this is to the city! Its great to have a nice hike so close to my apartment. Being able to plunk myself into the middle of the woods after a long week of school work and classes is a blessing. Try to go on a weekday during the school year! I went on a Wednesday when my lab was cancelled and I was nearly the only one in the park. It was surreal!

This is a much bigger park than most people know. Besides extending about 2.5 miles along West Rock Ridge it connects up to a section of the blue trail, Connecticuts oldest trail. This section can take you about another 11 miles and includes lots of climbing up & down, nothing too taxing though and even a small waterfall. An unknown gem.

My favorite place for trails. Well maintained and blazed. Lots of variety: rock scrambles to fairly level. From the south summit great views of New Haven and LIS to the south and Sleeping Giant to the north. Great variety of plants throughout. A hidden gem on the edge of New Haven. Park at Lake Wintergreen for the best access.

If youre in town to go see East Rock, you definitely want to check out West Rock too. Not only is the park a whole lot bigger, the trails are a lot more rugged (in a good way) and provide a beautiful view of the surrounding areas (take the red trail to the summit to really appreciate the park).

Baseball field was gross..dirty and overgrown..bleecher are if that is what you call is was disgusting! new Haven park and rec should be embarrassed to have their kids play on that field. .. as a new haven tax payer I would love to know how they allow this...

The parking lot expansion(s) of the past few ears have allowed a lot more people experience the serenity of a walk around Lake Wintergreen. Cant been a free walk in the woods. Just wish the fishing was as good as it was before the built the dam.

This place really has potential, but it just feels rundown. The trails are blazed, but not particularly well maintained. I wanted to love this place, but I cant help but feel that its been neglected.

Beautiful park, and definitely worth the extra hike to get here. Less traveled and more peaceful than East Rock with a more expansive view. Try to get here early for the sunrise.

Its a beautiful park and well kept. There are baseball fields for all type of sports. And its a historic mountain caused by a glacier many years ago.

The view from the ridge overlooking route 15 is really good. This isnt particularly difficult to hike.
