The park itself is in deplorable condition & barely deserves 1 star; I added another based on the friendliness of the majority of the people who use the park. Actually, it is less of a "park" & more of a large kennel; its just a large fenced area with one tree. The area closest to the gate has no grass, so it is a mud pit when it rains. The grassy area where the dog run is pitted with holes, making it a trip hazard, especially when it starts to get dark and when the grass gets high. Theres a light at the end closest to the gate but it does not illuminate the whole area. It has a double gate system but neither shuts completely, so any dog that wants to get out can do so easily if the owner is no quick enough to stop him/her! The benches & chairs, most of which have been supplied by pet owners, are in bad condition as well. Even the parking area outside the pen is unpaved, totally uneven, & a mud pit in the when theres any precipitation. The city does neither repairs or maintains it, which is why it is such bad shape! With all the parks & beaches in Milford, Eisenhower Park is the ONLY one where you can bring your dog EVEN ON A LEASH, and there are many areas within that park where dogs are prohibited!! So the dogs are confined to a PORTION of ONE PARK on leash and this one fenced, poorly maintained area the city laughably calls a "dog park"!! perhaps thats why when I searched for dog parks in Milford, it didnt even show up and dog parks as far away as NY did!!

The people are what make this park sub-par. 9/10 folks have their dogs off leash on the trail and its frustrating having to stop and wait for them to take control of their animal. Please walk your dog on a leash. The fenced area is fine too. A little muddy in a section, but thats not that big of a problem. Once again, the people ruin the park. Most times I come here, its a fecal mine field. If your dog poops...pick it up. Its not that difficult. I get sometimes people forget to bring bags, but you can be at least courteous enough to have your dog do its business off trail and outside of the play area. Irony has it that animals have nothing to do with why this isnt a five star review. Just be decent, folks. Thats all it takes.

Terrible experience at this "dog park." It is just a fenced in area - it is not maintained - there is a mud pit, all the tennis balls are ripped to shreds and a hazard, no water bowls like the other dog parks, etc. It is so disappointing that a town as great and thriving as Milford is not dog friendly. As another review stated, dogs are not allowed on any of the public parks or beaches except Eisenhower leashed and it would be great if they could at least make the dog park to the standards of the nearby towns, such as Hamden and Shelton. I have stopped going here and instead drive 20 minutes to the better maintained dog parks.

Nice sized park nice people overall. But getting maintance by the city is a major deal including mowing and fence repair. There is no water source and the park regulars supply lawn chairs to sit. And no shaded areas.

The town needs to spend more on upkeep the fence has spots where dogs can sneak under and the lawn is unkept. Overall nice and understanding dog people redeems the park.

Very small but lots of places and woods right outside the fenced in dog area to walk your dog.
