A truly remarkable and unique course unlike any other that Ive played throughout Connecticut, the course at Yale is a challenging but very fun track. There was certainly not much Earth-moving landscaping that went on with the design of the course as I have never seen fairways that follow the lay of the land quite like they do at Yale. Control your tee shots and keep them in the fairways and you will love it. Hit into the hazards or rough and you will have trouble making bogey. Played from the blue (M) tees and with that setup you better not be short off the tee. Many holes play longer or shorter because of the severe elevation changes and approach shots to the green leave little margin for error. There are a handful of blind shots as well, from tee to green. Definitely not a course for the beginner but absolutely fun if you utilize smart course management. The conditions were very good. The fairways were cut and full and the greens were fast and smooth. There are some great views on the course as well. The clubhouse displays a lot of heritage and the overall feel of the course is very reserved yet elite. Definitely a course to play if you have the opportunity.

The Course at Yale has been rated the best college course in the country and is consistently rated among the top 50 courses in the country. It is rich with character and an absolute classic from the body of work by Charles Blair MacDonald, the father of American golf course architecture. As with many of his designs, holes are reproduced from other courses he studied while in England and Scotland. Here at Yale youll find such classics as the Redan hole as well as facsimiles of the Road Hole, Alps, Biarritz and others from Europe. All other amenities aside from the course are first rate.

Disappointing, expensive and over-rated. I played on Aug 8, 2011 and the amount of areas that were burned out was shocking. Yes, the greens were in good shape and so were the tees but the aprons and large parts of the fairways were totally burned out. Totally unacceptable with todays technology and course maintenance. Either the course is underfunded and overpriced or the greens super sucks and they should get a real superintendant.

with exception to the redan that doesnt play like a redan, the 16th par5 green location should be moved back, the quirky 18, and also bring back the punchbowl green on number 3; this is my favorite course in the world... a beautiful walk at yale is heaven on earth.

Best Course in terms of architecture in the area and among the best in the country. This a GOLF COURSE not a botanical garden. This is real golf -dont play it if you cannot deal with varying conditions and the "rub of the green."

This is a beautiful place - took a walk here and did not play golf. Unmanicured compared to other golf courses Ive seen, lots of plants, deers, turkeys, chipmunks, and ducks out and about.
