This theatre is right next to Santa Monicas Third Street Promenade. It was a Thursday mid-afternoon and the streets were filled with crowds and cars but we managed to find parking in the structure. We walked into the theatre and was surprised to discover that it was empty (except staff of course)! They were kind and helpful [: Our documentary, Hot Water, was playing on the 2nd floor so we headed up the stairs. There were art pieces all over the walls and couches to relax and enjoy the huge window views. It was nice to have the theatre room to ourselves (decent-sized screens with around.. 20-25 seats?). The only downside to this theatre was the SEATS. Initially, I was excited because the material was of high quality when compared to big corporation theatre seats.. BUT.. The seats dont recline and my neck and head was forced into an awkward position. I started getting a headache and my neck was in uncomfortable pain after about 10 minutes into the movie. Overall, it was a cheap and fun new experience

My husband and I used to go to Laemmle Monica twice per week. It was our go-to movie house. We waited with anticipation for the remodel. With excitement, we returned to the theater, only to be terribly disappointed in the quality of the seats. They are uncomfortable, stiff, poorly sized, and absolutely not conducive to watching a movie. We tried a second and third time, but were unable to view a movie without getting a back twinge or neck ache. We dont go there anymore, at all. Never.

Wow loved this theater. The seats are so comfy and the screen size isnt bad at all! Great selection of thought provoking and meaningful content. We have a big tv at home so I prefer to go to the theater and support independent films and documentaries at the theater and watch blockbusters at home. And now we are just going to come here all the time because the seats were so comfortable (like arm chairs), its clean and they often have showings with special guests.

Had a great time seeing a New Zealand film the other week! Lots of interesting art on the walls and it was great to bring our drinks inside the theater. I read some really bad reviews on Yelp about the seats being terribly uncomfortable, which made me almost decide not to go, but then we went anyway and loved the seats. Not sure why others thought they were bad. Definitely get there early to score good seats, though, as the theaters are small.

Clean, newly renovated theater near Santa Monica beach and a few blocks from the 3rd Street Promenade. Good acoustics and projection for indie and a few mainstream flicks. Seats are new, but a bit stiff for me so I always bring a seat cushion. Parking lot across the street with 90 min free parking.

Went to see Your Name with 7 year old twin grandkids. After all the reviews on this film and who is reading the new English version, the film was totally in Japanese with English subtitles. Very disappointing and people behind the counter not accommodating at all. Double disappointing.

I was honored to have a true experience at the Laemmle Monica Film Center with the enjoyment of music from their organist. It is wonderful to have such a wonderful historical place to enjoy an old fashion movie starring Maggie Smith. They have balcony seating.

The Fourplex is an amazing theater. Very well organized, stylish, and good service. Once youre sitting down in the theater, you immediately are welcomed by a confortable chair and beautiful lighting. I had no complaints for the movie quality, either.
