Let me first say that East Village Tavern & Bowl is a really fun place. I have had a number of really great nights there and its a cool option when you are looking to have a few beers w/ friends but also want more than just a plain old bar. Now then, let me also say EVT&B is quite pricey - arguably justifiable based on the great location and uniqueness of entertainment they provide, but pricey nonetheless. Be ready to shell out $$$ for your bowling. Lastly, I will say the last time I was there I had a really unpleasant encounter with one of the bouncers who works there. I was there with friends on weekday night - it was almost empty - and this bouncer came over to our lane and told us we had too many bowling balls. I said no problem and asked him (in what i thought was a very nice manner) if he wanted to take a couple away from our lane and put them back. Well, this bouncer looked at me like i had just spit on his Grandmas grave. I proceeded to put the balls back myself and later went over to apologize. After I apologized, the bouncer gave me a sort of snide laugh and told me I had sounded like an a**hole. I was totally miffed by this and that experience left me with a sour taste in my mouth. I feel like EVT&B charges just a little bit too much for the bouncers to act that way.

I like this place. Its not really worth the full price for a lot of what they offer but, if you go on special nights when they are offering things at discount it is the best time to go. Ive been here a handful of times and always had really great service. I sit at the bar and the bar staff is more than wonderful about making sure you are happy with everything which is a relief from most of SD waitstaff quality. I have tried quite a few things on the menu, the nachos, the wings, the flatbreads, the ribs and Ive heard their Pulled Pork Mac and Cheese is amazing! I really enjoy their Korean BBQ Flatbread it has some really unique toppings and just tastes good. Their Margarita pizza was just OK. The wings are really good, the ribs were great when I had them. They have reasonably priced beer and the atmosphere is fun and sporty! It isnt as hard to find parking down in the East Village and going on a week night was an easy in and out situation. We had a great time and I always look forward to coming to EV Tavern and Bowl. Sounds like their Thursday Special 4$ beers 3$ games was a great night! Check this place out when looking for a fun night downtown!

On August 11th, my department for my job hosted an event there. Event was from 630 to 830 that included bowling. We had a total of 4 lanes. 2 of the Lanes were down for a minimum of 30 to 40 min. During this time we didnt complain because we knew they were working on trying to fix it. At 830 they shut all 4 lanes from bowling. I then went to the manager who argued with me because I requested for time to be made up since the system was down. I asked to speak to his manager, he then replied " I am the one you need to go through, there is no one else". After several minutes of arguing he finally gave me a name refused to give me a phone number for him or a number where I could complain. Manager told me all he could do was give us 10 minutes because he said he other people coming for that lane. Very poor customer service, Thats not our problem if the lanes were down for over 30 to 40 min we deserve all of our time. Good money was paid for this event for a complete 2 hours, we deserved better service. Would definitely not recommend especially for company events.

If it wasnt always so packed, usually with Vavi leagues, this would be a five star all the way. The beer is great, the drinks are pretty cheap, they, obviously, have bowling and they have sports on several TVs. The food isnt anything to write home about, but its not offensive either for pub grub. Certainly gets the job done. In our bowling league we usually got the mixer plate which had chicken strips, mozzarella sticks, potato skins and something I cant quite remember. It was clearly something I didnt eat. The bowling isnt exactly cheap. You really need to evaluate how your crew is set up and decide if youre going to pay by the game or by the hour. I used to office right around the corner, so day drinking and day bowling was something pretty common. I even bought my own shoes from here for $20. Make sure you do that on new shoe day. Anyway, I really shouldnt fault a business for doing well and having loads of business, but I will.

My wife and her team had to play in an AREAA tournament. The place was very clean, the bar was fully stacked, and the staffs/bartender were great in taking care of everyone. The food was delicious, the drinks were cold, and the bowling lanes were all fully operational. The bathrooms were also clean, icing on the cake. There was a separate bar in the front, seemed like a very good place to hang out. We had a blast and look forward to going back with our friends and family. Keep up the good work and making the tavern into a great social atmosphere.

The only Bowling Place in Gaslamp. Definitely not made for serious bowler. Nice place to hang out. Bar tender is a little sloppy with drinks. I would recommend only shots or tap beers. Bartender is not attentive at all. Drinks are empty and had to wait wait to place order for drinks and food. Maybe they need a bell at the bar. Staffs are too busy chatting and focus on their friends. Lanes are also way you to short. If you have not been heres. You didnt miss anything. Go somewhere else.

This place has the makings of a great bar. Tons of plasma screens. Great beers on draft and shoot, bowling lanes!! The service (and food for that matter) however are lackluster. Obviously you dont go to a place like this for the food, but it could be better. Honestly, how hard are nachos? Overall though, a great place to hang with friends and enjoy beers and overpriced bowling. I guess thats what happens when you have the monopoly on bowling; you charge $5 a game...

service is HORRIBLE. They got our bill wrong, 3 times, brought us a Fat Tire Pitcher (ordered blue moon) Failed to mention that they have not Well Whiskey.... ordered a WELL Whiskey and Coke during happy hour, charged us $7 for a jameson and coke. Didnt do anything about it after we called the server out. Bowling alley is great but good luck getting a beer before your 10th frame. such a shame cause its a great location with great ambiance and servers blew it

Tavern Bowling in San Diego via Groupon deal sucks as they did not honor...."Voucher must be first used towards bowling and the balance remaining on the voucher must be used towards food & beverage during the same visit." We had to pay for food even though we had credit on Groupon. They also charged full price for game that if explained could have been a lot cheaper. Great afternoon with the kid...thanks for ripping us off!
