Its worth the trip for anyone that lives in NorCal. I went in late winter, so everything was green and blooming. There are crowds, but the ample space provides for long moments of solitude. Even though the trail that follows the creek has steep and slippery spots, most of the trail is easy to navigate. Rain from the previous days had the waterfalls flowing nicely. Even if the falls arent flowing, the hollow is spectacular sight to behold. The views of the Sierra Buttes and Coastal Range are just gorgeous. To top it off, the wild flowers were in bloom.

Make sure you wear sturdy shoes, the soil thinly covers volcanic rocks. Spring time there are several streams that have to be crossed and are muddy. Your other option is to simply make your own trail and walk out where ever you want. Leave the cows alone. Bring a kite. Prepare to spend at least an hour just enjoying the wide open space. No shade for the most part of anywhere. Dont bring your baby in a stroller unless its meant for rough, uneven, rocky, and muddy terrain.

Absolutely amazing. I was here in the perfect window, when wildflowers were blooming all over the place, and the falls were running full force. The window is limited, though. Go here during this short spring window and be amazed. You wont be alone on a weekend during peak time, but you will understand why people flock out here.

Very open and you can walk amongst the cows. There are no marked trails which makes it difficult to locate the 2 waterfalls. Fish & Game were out to answer any questions. Lots of outhouses, a big plus. Just follow the hikers and you should be able to find a fall or two.

If you are lucky enough to visit this place after some rain in the spring you will be greeted by multicoloured fields of wildflowers and dramatic waterfalls. It can get very busy, but its a big place so you can walk to get a bit of solitude.

Come and spend the day here! The trail to Phantom falls is beautiful and easy to moderate, but dont forget your sunblock and waterproof hiking shoes. The trail can get rocky and wet and dont get to close to the cows.

Beautiful place to visit in March and April. Wildflowers are usually blooming and the waterfalls are generally running during this time. Beware, the parking areas can be very crowed during this time of year.

We went here to check out the wildflowers earlier this year, but at least when I went, they were not terribly impressive. There was a muddy section of the stream we had to go through, so wear proper shoes.

Fantastic during the spring! Its about a little over 3 miles to Phantom Falls, well worth it for the scenery! Trailhead can get very crowded. Not a lot of shade on the trail, so bring a hat and sunscreen!

An amazing place to connect on a wild and outdoor journey. Waterfalls, wildflowers, canyons and ravines, views of the Sacramento Valley, as well as amazing birding and wildlife viewing.

Good, moderate hike although the trails ate not noticeable , awesome views, but the area is completely dry and no waterfalls can be seen due to the drought.

The best place to see a beautiful display of spring flowers. A nice place for a weekend hike & picnic year-round. Flowers are at their best early to mid May.

It was a great family hike through rocky paths on rolling hills. The wild flowers were everywhere. Every step was picture worthy in every direction.

One of my favorite locations to explore. No set trails. Just you, a compass and a map. Make your own path! Explore! Definitely worth your time!

Beautiful spring hike. Go on the north side and hike north till you find the stream, follow it west (down stream) to the falls.

The last week of March is the best time to see the flowers. In the summer months bring water. There are portable toilets.
