I absolutely love the nature center in Carmichael along the Sacramento River! The place has always had a fond place in my heart, its shared itself with former love interests making for enjoyable times. Its also seen me hiking solo through the preserve whenever I need to collect my thoughts and perhaps cool my jets by going all zen with mother nature! The grounds are well kept, clean, plenty of parking, helpful staff and plenty of drinking fountains for those hot summer days!

Spring is the best time to go here when everything is green and the deer are out. But every time I go here I see different birds, Turkey, frogs in the pond, and different insects if youre looking for them. Awesome place to come to enjoy nature nature. Definitely my favorite place in Sacramento. Easy access to the river to see lots of salmon during the season. No dogs allowed.

Peaceful nature preserve and learning center, includes Maidu Village, trails through the preserve, down to the American River. Center showcases live raptors and reptiles, plus hosts educational programs for kids and adults.

Highly under-appreciated riparian habitat within Ancil Hoffman Park. Docent led tours are available. Allow more time to visit than you would expect. Great for inquisitive kids of all ages.

Great place for kids! They have several loop trails and an interpretative area staffed with knowledgeable volunteers. They also offer many events and camps for the kids.

I volunteer here doing habitat restoration. Its a great place to take kids to teach them about nature and the native people who used to live there.
