Appeal: Im a diehard fan of the old Parkway so I was thrilled to find out the new one opened up. Parking can be a little sketch, even though this part of Telegraph is gentrifying, just the other week, the owner of a bar in the area was nearly mugged at knifepoint in broad daylight and there are still break ins of cars. Parking is hard to find, so BART if you can. Facilities: Hipstery cheer with found objects. Inside, theres a succulent wall and the rear theater has nicer couches/furniture. The other theater (with upstairs and downstairs) has some issues with playing movies sometimes (at least for Purple Rain) and the tables and chairs set up downstairs are good for watching a basketball game, but maybe not so comfy for a full length film. Service: I still dont have quite the hang of the system that lets the servers find you but food generally comes out faster than it did at the old Parkway. Better menu options and beer on tap is always a good thing.

I bought tickets to a show on Groupon. I will admit that it took a while before I was able to find a show and time that worked but I finally did. There isnt a lot of parking and the road is tight, I would definitely recommend a Lyft there just to avoid the hassle. The cocktails and drinks were great, the food is ok. We got the wings, garlic fries, and Fried chicken sandwich. While I dont doubt that theyve used high quality ingredients, the fried chicken sandwich just lacked flavor and was dry inside. Its also tough to eat at your seat as the lighting isnt good since its a movie theater. We shouldve picked something that was more finger food friendly. Overall, it was a good experience and I would come back. The service was good, not great and the experience was fun.

Super fun theater, allows food and alcohol into the theater itself and has tables and comfy couches inside. My one caveat is that you should plan to come at least 10 minutes before your movie starts, especially if you have a Groupon or something like that. The line for food and drinks moves pretty slowly, and they require you to stand in that line instead of the ticket line if you have a Groupon. We waited for about 20 minutes before we were able to check in, and missed the first several minutes of the movie.

I was not able to attend the old parkway in this lifetime or universe, but the new one is incredibly fun and the staff is very accommodating. We saw David Lynchs lost highway here, used a group on, and were 10+ minutes late and were still welcomed warmly and treated like family you actually like. They served excellent beer at our couch and coffee table seating , came back clear and bring more and the theater itself had high end sound, projection, screens and surround sound.

In a bad neighborhood. The theater is fine but the neighborhood its in is not safe. We parked my car one block away (on 23rd Ave near Telegraph) and when we returned to my car after the movie a window had been smashed and stuff taken from my car. It looked like this may have happened to other vehicles on the same street (on a Tues. evening). We called it in to OPD and they didnt show after waiting nearly an hour! Totally spoilt the experience of going to watch a movie.

Apparently after some seemingly arbitrary time the fully staffed bar and food counter are closed while staff grin (and joke around amongst themselves in plain site) and tell you they are closed. While the dude next to us in the movie, was able to literally exit the side door and return with a refreshing beer..A reminder that Baystreet in Emeryville would have been happy to serve me something at least. #thirsty and pissed off

One of the coolest movie theaters in Oakland. You can order beer, wine, shakes, soda, food, (love their chicken wings). Theres comfortable seating, couches, chairs, bean bags with little tables for your food and beverages. They play old and new movies, they even have game nights. Kid friendly. Sweet Oakland vibe. Theyre pro Green! And they sometimes help people in the community with food packages during some holidays.

Cozy theater with a variety of event nights and movies. Only 1 movie is shown at a time but the seating is composed of 2 levels and various types of couches, chairs, bean bags, etc. You can order food right to your seat and also order drinks with a good selection of beer, wine, cider, and sangria. The popcorn is decent but not typical movie theater popcorn. All in all a great community theater for a unique experience.

This is such a fun place to see a film. Comfy couches and arm chairs for seating, yummy food (standard American fare), pitchers of beer, and of course popcorn. They also show throwback films (Barbarella & Ghostbusters are coming up) and host other events like open mics, bingo, "popcorn" poker, and trivia night. You can also catch the Warriors games on the big screen here. Arrive early to pick the coziest couch!

Wed Oct 12th saw Kubo and the two Strings at the New Parkway in Oakland This movie was awarded 4 out of 4 stars by The Week It was acclaimed as an Oscar winner for 2017 The visuals were spectacular as was the fine story line. Credits went on for 15 mins and I watched them all. Nowhere in the lobby of theatre did I see any acknowedgement of the public and critics acclaim, which this move earned. Why?

On Fathers day the place was busy yet, the call our name almost exactly at the timeframe they gave us. Service was great and food was scrumptious. I only giving 4 out of 5 stars because at the bar, I ordered a bloody mary and the celery they put there as garnish was looking very old and almost brown. I mentioned it, but the bartender just turned arround and left... too bad! Almost perfect score...

Great venue, they always have good films showing. Great beer choices, never get hassled about bringing in outside food. Was accidentally charged for a $50 gift card, they couldnt undo it, we were late to our movie and got bad seats :/ after trying for 3 hours during the movie, they still werent able to get it. Very nice people, but i wish the POS system was a little better with refunds

This theater is one of those cool, off-beat theaters created out of a space that was not originally a theater. Many of the seats are sofas and loungers. My only complaint about the configuration is that there are seats in areas that are way too close and to the side of the screen that can give you a neck ache and/or distort the image on the screen.

Jurassic Park. On my birthday. On the big screen. Staff was joyful and triumphant. Food was great. The seating was eclectic but comfy. The sound system (what Im most picky about) was fantastic. The T-Rex sounded just as tremendous as it did in my childhood. Thank you. Will definitely come back again and again for other flicks and memories!!!

This is what all movie theaters should be. Hands down the best theater of its type in North America. Its a community theater that is both affordable and high quality. The staff are excellent and the food is great! All movie theaters should aspire to be like New Parkway end of story. Definitely a destination in Oakland and the East Bay.

Truly a gem in the community Great selection of shows and events. Very family friendly and great food options. Staff are very welcoming and diverse. Only downside is that service, particularly the line for concessions is very slow. I recommend being in line for food and drinks at least 15 minutes prior to your showing.
