This particular movie theatre is alright. Its such a hassle trying to find good parking. Expect to park very far away from the theatre or wait a very long time for a spot. You will either have to circulate around the block until you find one or give up and go home. This makes it super inconvenient especially if you had already bought tickets in advance. I suggest to buy your tickets in person opposed to online. You dont want to be late especially if your watching a movie premiere. A little tip for those who do buy the tickets online, go straight to the ticket taker inside and they will scan the barcode provided by Fandango or whichever site you bought them from. This will save you lots of time by avoiding the line. Also, be prepared to spend nore than $10 on just popcorn and a drink. If you dont plan on spending too much, dont go on an empty stomach. There isnt many food options to choose from and everything is very old fashion. The menu is inside a frame on the wall, versus the modern day menu on a flat screen. The movie screen was a decent size, but it was positioned really low on the wall. You want to be able to watch a movie at eye level, not look down at it. The quality of the movie was good, but the sound varied from good to bad. The bass needs more power and there wasnt much clarity in the voices in some scenes. Overall we had fun, but this is my honest opinion. I recommend you go to the AMC in emeryville if you want a much better experience overall. I give it 3 stars because of good customer service and very comfortable chairs. FYI - We watched Captain America: Civil War. Best movie of the year so far. Must watch!

There is a 50/50 split of things to like, and not to like, about this theater but all in all I like it when its not crowded. Some of the rooms are really small, this generally makes for a good experience with tall backed reclining chairs and lots of room for bigger people. Unfortunately the grade isnt very steep so shorter people will have an issue with the height of the chairs in front of them. Also there isnt enough sound dampening between the doors and the room itself. In theater four I could hear people talking as they walked by in the hallway, and I was in the middle of the room That said the sound and screen were good. The popcorn is on the higher side of average and they will let you bring your own refillable water bottles in so you dont waste bottles and have to buy the expensive stuff. The staff have been laid back the few times Ive been there as well. Thats really good for the experience.

Worst theater Ive seen. No stadium seating, so be prepared to stare at the back of someones head all night. Also, most of the patrons appear to be students from Cal or the high school so be prepared for a noisy/boisterous audience (can be fun if youre not really interested in watching the movie). If you sit near the wall, you can sometimes hear noise leakage from the neighboring screen. If you want to watch a movie with sfx, do yourself a favor and go to Bay street or pretty much any other place. Even the relatively ancient California theatres affords a far superior experience than this place.

Horrible seating. The row distance is so tight that you cannot even sit correctly when being fully upright. Must move knees to neighbor, or over backrest of row in front. I dont know how seating would work if the theater is full. Epic fail of construction. This is less leg room than the worst economy class air carrier. I am not especially tall. Auditorium #6 Oh, and the auditorium was very cold. People put on their jackets during the show.

I was excited to see an old movie theatre, enjoy going to these every now and then. Unfortunately the seats were very uncomfortable, there is no leg room. I keep wondering how did they design it like this? I had to sit sideways and kept turning all the time. On the plus, they have new movies. Staff are very friendly, service is quick and professional, the place (including the restrooms) is very clean.

A pretty, old theatre with 2 floors. Quite the mix of screen sizes, with older showings moved to a smaller digital screen upstairs. They seem to frequently show classic movies as well. I havent been to any, but I imagine its probably less expensive - maybe $5 for the classics.

The space between seats was incredibly tight. My 52" Fiance wasnt comfortable, had to rest her legs on the chair in front. Im 510" and had to place my legs over the chairs in front of me to watch the movie. Very uncomfortable movie experience.

Very interesting layout for a movie theater, most of the theaters are fine but the projection systems dont seem as sharp as most modern theaters, also sometimes the seats are super tight and small, not a very consistent experience

Its a great theater. The seats are comfy, good popcorn and drink. Plus there is the original Ms.Pack-man and pin ball. They show a great variety of movies and there club card rocks! This is a great movie theater!

Beautiful theater on the inside! Im from the south and Ive never seen one like this so maybe its just my ignorance. Good service and good quality. But I did feel that the screen couldve been slightly bigger.

Great theatre. Convenient location close to restaurants with impressively comfortable seats. Good array of snacks and drinks to choose from, which you should because thats how the theatre makes money!

I swear by this theater. Really, really love it. Started going here a few years back to see a movie that would have been extremely busy at other theaters, it wasnt here so, Ive been here ever since.

Worth the experience for their flashback cinema on Thursdays. Somewhat clean theater, staff is usually pretty decent. It isnt one of the "grand" theater plexes, but it works for downtown Berkeley.

Love this location. We also liked the one in Emeryville. They showed Hindi movies. I really hope the other UA locations show Hindi movies. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.

Great place to watch movies near campus! The place is relatively clean and empty on the weekdays. The prices are cheap, and there is a student discount.

In some of the theaters the rows of seats are way too close together which made it super uncomfortable. Im 62" and had to seat in an aisle seat.

This is a perfect stop when youre exploring downtown Berkeley. Plus, they have some unusual movies that you might not find at other theaters.

This theater is a little older but I think thats what gives it its charm. Never too over crowded. Just a chill place to go and see a move.

Special atmosphere at this location. Comfortable seats, but notmuch height difference from front to back. Expensive drinks and popcorn.

Fine cinema. Like the classic feeling but also has a nice crisp image. The seats where I was were stadium style so no heads in my way.

Acceptable setting, but the heating was off (I guess since it was only a few of us watching that movie). I freeze my *** of!

Small theaters but feels intimate. The movie was fun to watch. The screen was dirty, though, and that was distracting.
