No Wifi in room- was expecting to be able to communicate with people I was meeting out there via wifi based apps (whats app, fae time, etc.) and do work/email. Wifi did not work all weekend. It was very stressful trying to coordinate/communicate with people I needed to and knowing I could not get work done. Staff looked into it but it wasnt resolved, said theyd send a tech - the tech never came. At that point they offered us complimentary upgraded wifi but that didnt work either. Manager offered to switch our room but we were already unpacked and exhausted, would rather have just gotten a discount but got more of a shoulder-shrug "sorry about that" kind of thing. If this was Days Inn, id get it, but if Im paying close to $180 a night, I expect better. Was also told it might be my phone, but my roommate had the same issue. As soon as wed step in the hall, Wifi OK, step into the hotel room, no signal whatsoever. We were on the second floor. Hopefully that can be looked in to. We ended up going to Dennys for coffee and used their wifi which was awesome. Also saved a boat load by eating there and skipping expensive hotel brunch. Good stuff: complimentary shuttle, clean rooms, comfortable beds & pillows, good bathroom. Staff was courteous and concerned even if they couldnt help us with the wifi. Overall Id say if you are paying that much money, just find a place by the beach. Similar prices, and my friends who stayed there were much happier with their experiences.

I liked the HOTEL, not really the location. If you must be in Del Mar, its not a bad option, although it is not on the ocean, its next to the highway and a Dennys. Pretty blah surroundings (although the track is immediately across the street...so if you are there for that, its a good location). They try to get around this by having a very nice shuttle service that will take you in a 5 mile radius - we used the shuttle and it worked well and was nice. While there for a meeting, I got a taste of their food via the meeting meals. Was quite disappointed with the food options - nothing was very good and their Gluten Free accommodations were quite poor, especially when there is an AMAZING GF cafe down the street (I would have been ecstatic if they had just brought me a sandwich from there). The property itself is nice, although layed out in a "U" shape that is pretty frustrating, especially if you are at the far back. Major walk from the elevator. My room was very comfortable and clean, so kudos on that. The center Courtyard area (with pool and firepit/seating areas) was very comfortable and a nice touch. The workout room looked adequate and the staff were all very friendly. It wouldnt be my first choice hotel unless I was specifically looking to be in Del Mar.

Wonderful place with friendly staff. We were given a room with a smokey smell but they changed rooms for us quickly. Courtyard is fantastic with the firepits and pool (which is just big enough to do some laps when there arent too many people). Hot tub next to the pool was very hot and relaxing especially in the morning/evening when the air temperature is chilly. We had access to the club lounge for a decent free breakfast and spent the extra $8 per person one morning to do the complete buffet breakfast. Both were great for their "price". The bathroom in our room was a little small and outdated. Perhaps there are rooms with better bathrooms. Beds are comfy. The inner facing rooms are much nicer/quieter than the outside facing rooms... I would imagine that the ones with balconies facing in would be really nice. They had a movie night in the courtyard and although we couldnt make it due to other plans, it was a great idea next to the firepits. I think its only scheduled for the fall. We had room service one night and the food was reasonably priced and the quality was what youd expect for the price (nothing outstanding but decent in a pinch).

Just left the hotel today and will say that our overall experience was great - heres my top pros and cons: Pros: - Overall very comfortable, room was very clean and our bed were comfortable - Perfect location, only a few mins from the beach and about 20 mins from downtown, SeaWorld and USS Midway - Breakfast was amazing and a great way to start our day - kinda high but worth it to us - The courtyard is amazing and very relaxing - one of our favorite parts of the hotel Cons: - Parking, they charge $18 for self-parking which is dumb if you ask me and VERY expensive. Parking should be free for guests - insulting otherwise. - No refrigerator, for a hotel of this class youd expect a small refrigerator but dont expect one or anything related - The lady that checked us in was very rude (all the other staff was awesome). She looked like the front-desk supervisor (tall lady) but was rude from the very moment we arrived. She should take lesson from the guys at valet!

In lieu of waiting in a never-ending line at the Del Mar Racetrack, you can conveniently park at the hotel for the same price (10). Its a bit of a walk but worth avoiding the existing traffic at the track. Another major pro is that the lot is pretty empty. You wont have to search a long time for a good spot. Also its pretty secure with attendants. Plus after youre finished with your long day watching horse racing and/or enjoying the free concert, the Hilton has cheaper drinks than those offered at Del Mar. Which leads me to the biggest plus, the clean bathrooms! The ones at the racetrack have long lines and arent in the best condition and the porter pottys are just gross. The Hilton has a great urination facility and they display their drink menus in the stalls! Nice staff with great customer service!

For the price, every room should have refridgerator at a minimum and I dont understand the reason to charge for parking. My stay was on the 26th of January 2013 where I was attending an awards banquet from my employeer. Accross the hall from my room were some fellow employees were extreemly loud. I helped escort the trouble maker out of the hotel when later, I also was asked by security to leave the hotel. One of the security guys asked me if I was part of management. I told him yes. I was also asked my involement in the incident but that didnt keep them from asking me to leave. Other employees that were involved were not asked to leave. Im currently looking for answers, refund and an appoligy.

We were in town for the Kaaboo festival at the racetrack and loved both the location and the actual hotel. The standard rooms are quite large so you can spread out. We ate dinner on the patio and the staff was very attentive and friendly. Even though the area is near tons of great restaurants, we are really happy we stayed in for the night. Sunday breakfast was nice, it would be great if they turned it into a champagne brunch and did more with the breakfast buffet. The Benedict from the menu was beautifully presented. We will be back during race season and make another night of it. As a former event planner, I would also recommend this Hilton for small events.
