The 06/05/2015 performance of Les Miserables at the Fox Theater was horrible. How dare you charge full price ($85+ Mezzanine) for a local production. Our tickets were a gift to us in memory of a dear friend and I wish you would refund her for the three seats she purchased. Had it not been for her presence, we would have walked out. Les Miz is all about the singing. There are wonderful opportunities to showcase excellent vocal talent. I don’t know what happened here. In addition to the terrible sound system, the orchestra rushed so fast through the opening songs that the lyrics were completely garbled. Most of the singers sang terribly flat or used some very odd phrasing that didn’t sync with the orchestra. Mics crackled or didn’t work at all. Stage positions were marked on the floor in white tape. We’ve been burned twice now and will not attend a function at the Fox again.

Extremely disappointing. Popcorn, drinks, candy bars allowed inside the theatre during the performance. Three large speakers blocking view of stage right and left from side seating through rows O. Some individuals could not have possibly seen anything except front center stage. Doors opened 10 minutes before curtain time and people were like a cattle call pouring through the doors as if this venue were only open seating. Staging allowed side seated audience to see back stage, exit lights, actors moving around which was very distracting throughout the performance. Volume of sound system was good, but clarity of voices and enunciation made it very difficult to understand what was being said. I am not a theatre critique, but of all the places I have been for performances, I would not return to the Fox as a first choice. Sorry

I didnt hate the performance I hated the ushers, we came with a military group and they treated us like dirt.. I have 2 kids under 2 and in order to keep the quiet to not distract people we gave them something to play with and every few minutes they kept coming up to us and say turn off that light (cell phone) my youngest is 15months and she was hungry so i gave her some yogurt melts and then again they came up to us and said no eating she wanted t me to take food away from my child... we left in the middle of the performance due to disrespect we got from the staff.. its really sad how the military personal gets treated! I will never return and this was all four of us first time seeing this play ever!! and they treated us like crap!

Five stars for the venue. The Fox in Riverside is one beautiful venue. A few years ago there was Broadway In Riverside (Nederlander) and I have fond memories of the shows that were brought in. I hope there are still Broadway style shows touring through there..one really cant tell from that tacky web site that they have unless I am looking at the wrong one. No excitement on the site about whatever they are bringing in-I did see several listed but to bring people in there needs to be a splash of full bodied color and some terrific photos....BLAND. . A beautiful venue that cost a city a fortune needs and deserves better.

Beautiful venue, comfortable seats, great sound even in the "cheap seats" friendly staff, easy parking. My only complaint is that they allow hoards of patrons to get up and down during a performance. It may have been a crowd with a lack of knowledge of theater etiquette, but they should have been instructed to only walk back to their seats in between acts. It was very distracting to have 7 or 8 people walking to their seats during the show, causing people to not be able see what was happening on stage. It was a constant problem throughout the show, not just at the beginning with late arrivals.

The Fox seems to be trying to compete with places like Morongo and other desert casinos: rather than trying to capture interesting acts and compete with Los Angeles, the lineups have basically been geared towards the Moreno Valley dollar. Riverside could have a great scene of new, young musicians. The University of California isnt far from the Fox! But so far, this student has yet to spend a single dollar at Riversides newly renovated Fox Center.

We have attended three events at the Fox: The good: The building is beautiful. It is a work of art. The bad: Fox installed powerful line array speakers that overpower the venue. High frequencies dominate the sound spectrum and make the sound quite harsh and there is a lack of midrange. Powerful subs provide decent base but the lack of midrange and harsh highs make sound awful. This could be fixed- but so far I have seen no improvements.

I saw Drive-By Truckers for their three-night run. Once gain, the Fox Performing Arts Center did not disappoint and neither did the Truckers, and I expect this venue and this band to be amazing. See 2011 review. Do I have anything new to say? Yes! I tried the Fox Performing Arts Center food for the first time. The food is excellent and quite reasonably priced for what you get.

I just saw Primus play there last night. It a very well laid out venue... if you are seated on the floor there is a bad seat in the house as far as I can tell. The sound quality is also excellent and having a full bar never hurts either. The only downside is if you live in LA, its a little bit of a hike, but aside from not a great place to see a show.

The Fox Performing Arts Theatre is a cultural icon and a destination for anyone in the Riverside area. Amazing performances and a fantastic seasonal line up. The refurbished theatre harkened back to the glory days of theatre and teleports its patrons to wonderful dreamscapes.

Took girlfriend here for an evening out. I was impressed with the sound quality. Being that this was our first visit, we were both impressed and would recommend friends. Will be back for a few more shows, perhaps around Christmas and can hit the mission inn lights show later.

Weve seen many concerts here since the renovation, and have consistently had a great time. Great sound, great decor, even nice bathrooms and close parking. The chairs could be a bit wider and with a bit more legroom, but thats a common complaint at most all venues.

i like the venue but i purchased a groupon to take my employees to the show and they cancelled my tickets the day before the show. When i checked online there were over 100 tickets available for purchase.

Beautiful theater, but watching a movie here is terrible. Sound quality is bad up in the balcony -- very difficult to understand dialog. And the aspect ratio was absolutely terrible.
