So to be clear, the food that the Umami side of the business is serving is the thing that will keep me going back to this establishment. I have been a frequent patron of Umami since their previous location on Mill, and I will forever be indebted to Jared for providing such delicious meals! (Im the guy who used to get extra containers of Tantanmen broth!) HOWEVER, the service my girlfriend and I had received a few weeks back was insulting. We had come in on a Saturday afternoon and fortunately it wasnt as busy as it usually is, so we figured wed quickly get a satisfying meal and see a movie! Well, we were never greeted at any time, two servers looked us dead in the eyes and then continued to ignore us! Even after sitting down, we had to ask to be served! Throughout the service our server would literally gravitate to only one table and a few girls at the bar! Im usually not one to leave negative feedback but honestly, I never had been treated so badly in my life! I actually havent been back since due to this issue with the staff.

I decided to stop by Shady Park on my way home from South Mountain the other night. There was an event going on where Justin Jay was spinning, I was unaware that it was a charity event which would have been nice to know. This information wasnt readily available on the promotional materials. The night started out okay I had a couple drinks at the bar 10 bucks a piece for vodka and Redbull. I then decided to go onto the patio towards the back of the establishment, this is a great space. However it did leave a bad taste in my mouth because the exact drink now cost $17 at the bar on the patio, I hope this isnt standard practice. Ill probably give this place another shot and ensure that its not a charity event, I always keep my reviews up to date so I will update it after my next visit.

Im very disappointed with my experience here. Their Ramen - which was nine dollars - tasted of only salt. The flavor was the equivalent of adding a cup of salt to 6oz of hot water. Not tasty. Their vegan pizza is flavorful but extremely overpriced - coming in at $24. I will not be back as the food is overpriced, flavor inconsistent, and service mediocre. I went with a friend who ordered that crazy expensive pizza and some wings. I had Ramen. When it came time to pay the bill it was all on one ticket. The waitress never asked or inquired how we would like to pay. We both put our cards on the table and she came by picked them without saying anything. Ultimately she split the bill 50/50. Wonderful. We also waited 30 minutes for a pizza box. This place is a no go!

Very poor service in every aspect. The place was pretty deserted in both of the times I had gone there and each time there were forgotten orders of food and drinks multiple times, staff was rude and had no idea about any of their specials (I had to ask 3 people to finally get an answer on the drinks and none of the ones I asked to "find out and let me know" ever came back). By the time 5/6 of my party was done eating they finally remembered to bring out the last persons meal. Food tastes great, location is prime, and an awesome concept, if you can deal with the horrendous service then its definitely worth going to. I would say try it and dont feel bad leaving nothing as a tip.

Very friendly staff, awesome atmosphere! I love the setting. Half of the seating is outdoors and the rest is inside. It has a really nice small neighborhood bar (almost) feel. The only reason I am rating so low is that they are incredibly overpriced. I paid $17 for my bowl of ramen, which was so expensive because I added things that should have already come with the soup. Other places include them with the original price but not here. Also the wings were overpriced for size and the pizza. It was good, but not worth $17.especially since this is on campus I was surprised how expensive it was.

Do not go here!! I went to a show here and was kicked out for using the hand rail to dance next to the dance floor! The security was extremely rude and aggressive for no reason. I was given no warning and did not get my money back! Dont waste your time, they have a very low quality sound system and lighting set up.

I would give this place 5 stars just because the Ramen is incredible. Unfortunately the bartender had a real bad attitude and treated me like crap for no reason both times Ive been in to pick up an order, which is why I wont be back. Sorry guys, your food rocks but your bartender ruined it for me big time.

Everything here is great. Great food and friendly service. I know this location severs the "college crowd" but I wish they had highchairs for families with small children. That is my only gripe. We still go often, and deal with wrestling our daughter while we eat just because the food is so good.

I had a really great time at the Hollywood Alley Spring Informal. I was also pleasantly surprised by how well the food was prepared. The Bruschetta was particularly good, as were the wings. Great beer selection. Great sound from the PA. It helped that the weather was absolutely perfect.

I like the chill laid back atmosphere. Choice of pizza and ramen...why not. While I got the pizza, just about everyone else got ramen. The crust was good...not a fan of the sauce. Coming back for the environment, drink specials, and to try the ramen for myself.

The ramen is delicious. I had an amazing time here. I love the aura and the live music that plays in the back. This is a nice bar. It is kind of far off from the main road where the students are so its a plus . The crowd is not as immature here.

This place was delicious. If you want ramen, I would just call ahead and make sure, because I think they have blackout hours for ramen from 3-5. The ramen was fantastic. I recommend miso with spicy garlic paste, pork, and extra egg.

If you love Pizza, Amazing people, and a very open atmosphere, this is your pace. You can walk up and grab a slice from the walk up bar. They have a massive patio that is dog friendly! Tons of nice bean bag chairs!

Great vibes very unique foods. Foods from brick oven pizza, to full out top of the line ramen bowls! The outdoor patio is the place to be. Nice amount of shade and great venue for live bands. Great gem on Mill Ave.

Best pizza on mill, best music on mill, best atmosphere on mill. This is my favorite mill Ave bar that technically isnt even on mill Ave. Also best ramen in Phoenix. Best kept secret in Tempe right now IMHO.

Awesome and atmospheric place to get a drink. Plus the back patio is actually decently cool during the summer. I would for sure recommend coming here to my friends and will be doing so again.

Good selection of food, decent pricing. Went on a not so busy night, and it was relaxed and fun. Ramen from Umami was very nice, especially the soft egg, although addons can get expensive.
