This is an absolutely terrible venue. I have been to a lot of performances (pianists, plays, comedy shows, concerts, etc) and this is by far the worst place to have your show. The first thing that was a red flag for me was the fact that I couldnt bring in my purse. My purse is average size, very open, they could CLEARLY see nothing was in there. I also carry around pepper spray for safety. Its not in a good part of town. The security guards forced me to put both my purse AND my pepper spray back in my car and then get back in line (at the very end while my friends were allowed in). The guards were even telling the people in line that audience members at one of the other shows were bringing in drugs and weapons. DOESNT THAT MEAN I NEED MY PEPPER SPRAY?!?!?!?!? Also another woman had a purse that was about the same size as mine and she was allowed to bring it into the venue. I get into the venue, deal with the body pat down (mandatory for everyone in case youre curious) and then went into the part of the show for the event that I was attending. There was a waiter going around asking everyone for their drink orders and I ask for a cup of water. I was told that they only sell bottles of water. Last time I checked, every restaurant/theatre/business that has access to water gives it out for free to the public. While there is no law that states you give a free cup of water, acting like you dont have it and forcing people to pay CASH only (when you should be accepting all forms of payment) for everything is unacceptable. Its TERRIBLE customer service. My friend who was there was ordering drinks and told me that the BARTENDER told her that they were missing HALF of the supplies and alcohol that they needed. I would also like to point out that they gave her a cup of water at no charge because she was drinking alcohol. But a regular citizen who just waited 30 MINS outside in the heat cant have a cup of water?! The soap dispensers in the bathroom were broken or didnt have soap in them. I even briefly talked to one of the cast members of the show I was attending and they told me that the venue treated them HORRIBLY. They were super strict and just plain rude. So there you have it. From the customer to the employees to the client (performers) this venue is CRAP. Do not go to an event here. You are going to have a terrible time I guarantee you.

I have been performing for 17 years internationally and nationally and continue to do so weekly....and this venue was the absolute worst place I have ever performed. The big, huge, evil-angry man who ran the place was insanely awful to his staff, treating them like they were idiots and abusing them like bad animals. The staff were sweet and attentive, fully capable and good individuals. It broke my heart and horrified me to see how they were being treated. And then that huge, angry mess of a man switched his rudeness and aggression to people who were paying customers. The female security guard came over and started bullying my friends to leave, who paid for tickets and werent even guests when I was saying goodbye to them and they were finishing the drinks they paid for. I had to be in the venue for a double show, from 5pm to 1 in the morning, witnessing his poisonous behavior which made me sick to my stomach. The producer was also a hot mess who threatened to dock all of our pay if I didnt arrive exactly on time for a rehearsal that was absolutely not running smoothly or on time. In all my 17 years as a professional this was absolutely my worse show and venue to date. It classically added insult to injury. To charge 25$ a head and to almost full seats, she grossly underpaid and demanded too much of her performers. Ive never been treated with such disrespect. I really regretted reaching out because I was coming through town. The same producer has insulted and put down not only the people who got her started in burlesque (who referred me to her) but also another producer from the area, I found out a couple weeks after this experience. Do not see a burlesque show here and do not see anything else, if you can avoid it. As another customer said "RUN, DONT WALK FROM THIS PLACE!!!" I was contacted by a local news writer who did a piece on me in the beginning of my career because she saw my name in the flier this month, which is being reused from 3 months ago. I figured I would let all paying customers and the media (since they asked me), know what an awful experience this was.

IF YOU WANT TO KNOW WHAT AZ EVENT CENTER IS REALLY LIKE, I attended three Golden Gloves (Fri-Sun) and an MMA event there this year. I have traveled the state and been in a lot of venues. and unless you have money to burn or some other goal (gambling, shopping), this is an intimate setting for a mid-sized event. Do not believe any other review that says drinks are expensive. The only thing cheaper would be to sneak something in, but the reviewer that said the security was tight was right. You do not spend 9-15 dollars for a drink like you do at Comerica or the other professional sports venues. This has the feel of a mom and pop operation, so you are going to pay less for your tickets and less to enjoy the limited, but inexpensive amenities. During one event they were selling a solid plate of food for under $7. As for entry, $20 bucks or so gets you closer to the action than a $100 ticket at the large venues. So it all depends on what you are after. The center can house multiple events at a time. One night while we were watching Golden Gloves a wrestling match was going on in another area. There are no frills. The building is plain inside and out. The seats are of the folding variety. You can see how the ceiling is constructed. The building was always clean. Every time I was there the audience was loud but well behaved, with kids in all of the events. The sound system was a little off on one of the four days, but that could be an inexperienced person eating the microphone. If your not a Mesa fan, the security was great, and my wife never worried about it. The parking is ample. If you can get over the fact that you are walking into an old Home Depot - Sports Authority building, then you can have a really good time and leave with some money still in your pocket. If you are there to impress your first date . . . you did not choose wisely.

Un kept location, stained seats, too loud with music and cannot hear the singer. Also, misleading when they write a two drink minimum. Which is common for most places that serve drinks, problem I have with this place is that they made us purchase two tickets each for 15 dollars upon entry to this venue. So if you drink soft drinks, water, beer or wine, well you are overpaying, since each ticket is valued at 7.50 no change back. The blended drinks (like a slushy, but they call it margarita and daiquiri??) are $6. , water $2, beer $5. By the way you stand in line and they are in flimsy plastic cups. The water is Frys small bottle water. Which yes, I did get one since I do not drink well drinks, and was trying to wash the syrupy taste from the Strawberry Daiquiri, which I do believe has no alcohol since I rarely drink and it did not taste nor felt and I am literally a beer and a half kinda gal for my limit. So if you are with fillaseat or a groupon you are going to overpay and be charged up front. I recommend save your time and do not go. We left after 20 minutes. With 3 bottles of water for 30 dollars.
