An OK winery. Standing at a half full tasting bar and seeing 4-5 of the workers walk by, it took at least 5 minutes for someone to even acknowledge us and the people that walk in a couple minutes after us. After 10-15 minutes of standing at the bar, we finally started our tasting with a not very personable guy (a tasting room manager, none the less). We went through the list, no discussion of the wines. The Cab Franc and Rkatsiteli were good. The rest were ok. According to our pourer, their flagship wine is their sweet apple wine. I think a winerys flagship wine says a lot about the winery; so take that as you will per your tastes. After the tasting and another 5 minutes, he finally got around to asking us if we needed anything else and ordering/paying. I did overhear the pourer next to us talking with the customers and she sounded awesome. If wed have had her, our experience would probably have been a lot different. They do get some bonus points for selling good bread and cheese. They also had soup, which we did not try, but I appreciate it when a winery offers it. Overall, an OK visit to a winery with OK wine. Of the 81 Virginia wineries I have been to, I probably wont be back to this one, though.

We visited while celebrating my sisters birthday on a Saturday afternoon. It was lovely. I recommend making a reservation as we did get a table and a personal server for a tasting. He had a great humorous personality. The wines were great and we ended up buying a few bottles. For 3$ more you can get 3 chocolates to accompany some of the wine tasting. Most of us took advantage of this and the chocolate was wonderful and made the tastings even better!!! Some live music was setting up on our way out. Will definitely return. Oh, and they were the ONLY winery we visited that day that acknowledged our birthday celebration with a special wine glass!! How thoughtful!!!!

One of the best wineries to visit in NOVA! Why? They not only have great wines and the setting is beautiful. BUT they are right now the only full LEED Gold certified vineyard in VA. I like their white vines especially the Viognier, but they also have wonderful reds like their Meritage. Their tasting room is beautiful and using environmental friendly materials and technologies. Their whole winery is completely powered by PV solar panels. You can actually see on a big TV how much energy is produced and used. Very educative. Great for kids to learn to take care of the environment. They even recycle the corks. Easy parking and easy to get to.

North Gate has done it all with perfection. Everything from the labels on their bottles, to the completely "green" tasting room, thought, care, and professionalism has gone into creating an atmosphere that is always enjoyable. My husband and I visit this winery often and whether it is enjoying our bottle of wine with a warm baguette and cheese on the back patio or close to the warm fire in the winter, our time is always peaceful. The Fedors are generous in supporting our local artisans through their selection of foods offered, art displayed and musicians featured. You wont be disappointed by choosing to visit North Gate Vineyard.

Went here with my girlfriend and her mother after seeing great reviews and was appalled. Their tasting room manager Dave Greb was the one giving us our tasting and he was by far the worst weve ever had. He grouped us with 10 other people, and didnt even bother to explain what was being poured. Wine was smashed around, no attempt to make the visit to the vineyard an experience, and was plain unpleasant to the point we considered, and should have left after the second wine. The wine itself was mediocre, but all I can say is never go here! If you do and you get Dave Greb, good luck.

They cant do more than one thing at a time. Had to walk out twice because the servers are just clueless and non-customer friendly. This is NOT a winery environment. Last time there we watched a dozen people come and leave without being served because they are simply ignored by the staff. Lock the gate! We will not be back.

Great location, beautiful tasting room. The staff was super friendly. We did the wine tasting and split a chocolate pairing and it was worth the extra money! The truffles were nicely paired, the wine was delicious. Be sure to ask about trying their ginger sangria!

Dave the manager is very hospitable. The wines are delicious as well as the chocolate paired tasting. The design of the tasting room invites relaxation yet looks modern. The artwork on display are worth a look. Overall a great experience. Thank you!!!

One of the best wineries in Northern Virginia! The tasting room is beautiful with a comfortable seating, live music, and a nice big fireplace. The wine is some of the best Ive had in the region and the views from the back patio are phenomenal as well.

I love the venue, and Mark and Vicki (the owners) are SO friendly. Their wine is among the best in the county. Plus, they are very green, with more solar power produced than they use at the winery. I like that.

Excellent offerings paired with the superb chocolates from The Perfect Truffle. The tasting room is beautiful and spacious, and the grounds offer space for kids to run around if you sit and sip outside.

Great indoor space to enjoy the wine. Also participates in the LEED program for environmental friendliness. $8 for a tasting of 6 wines... Very good and added a Sangria that would go great with sushi!

We had our wedding reception here four years ago. The owners and staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating! Love their wines and their dedication to "green" operations. Class act!
