I was incredibly disappointed by Hillsborough. I love virginia wine and have been a member of the Virginia Wine of the Month club for years. I enjoy supporting the local businesses. I had never been to Hillsborough and was really excited to visit. In celebration of a friends birthday, I organized a trip with 9 friends and we used a van service. I called ahead the day before and spoke with the manager (Erica) who was quite friendly and helpful. She explained they normally dont allow groups coming by van on Saturdays because it blocks their limited parking space. However, since our van and group was small she said we could come early in the day before it became too busy. As our van pulled in, a man immediately came out to meet us in the driveway and turn us away. I politely explained that I had made arrangements with the manager and he very rudely said "i dont care what my manager said, I am the owner and you are not allowed". Needless to say we took our business elsewhere and had a great time at three of the neighboring vineyards where we were greeted with a smile. I will never attempt to visit Hillsborough ever again. While I appreciate their need for rules, I had cleared the trip with the manager ahead of time. They had a beautiful building and a stunning view so I was quite disappointed by the way they treated us. I think youll have a better all around experience at the neighboring vineyards!

Great experience celebrating my sisters birthday here in a party of 7. After a bad limo experience on the way here where our limo broke down and we had to stand outside in 98 degree heat, Hillsborough was a treat. After we shared our experience, they greeted us with cold water immediately. They also allowed us to bring in our wines we had previously purchased from other vineyards and kept them in their kitchen fridge!!!! They are awesome!!!! Breaking policy to satisfy customers under extreme conditions shows the maturity of a good business!!!. We went on to have a fabulous tasting where our server was extremely knowledgeable about the wine. We learned a lot! We purchased a few bottles. We especially liked the different Rose wines and I never like Rose! And several of us purchased the dessert wine, Moonstone, it was lovely! The view is also lovely!!! Will definitely return when it is not so hot and we can sit outside and enjoy the view!!!!

We were excited to check out this Winery and in fact was planning to hang out here and spend the day. But soon as we walked in and the way we were greeted by the tasting staff we knew its not going to work out for us here. The woman who poured the wine for us wasnt at all cheerful, and wassnt interested in sharing more information about the wines or the winery itself. However, a couple of wines we tasted we good and and we liked it but the atmosphere and the unfriendlyness of the staff made us want to leave there as soon as we can and head to one of other wineries we frequent and know that we are guaranteed a good time. I wont go back to this Winery. There enough places to choose from thanks to the ever growing Wine indistry in Virginia.

I LOVED this place. The staff is super kind. I was surprised by how tasty the wines were too. Really enjoyed the Ruby Blush & White Merlot. The views were spectacular - you are surrounded by mountains and greenery and flowers. It really felt like a retreat. I took two friends from DC and they so loved the little escape from the hustle & bustle of the city. Best of all, you are welcome to pack a picnic and eat it under a terrace shaded by vines & leaves. I got there earlier, around 12:30pm & snagged a table without any problem. Such a pleasant experience. Will certainly be back! Thank you:)

I had never been out to the vineyards in Northern Virgina, but decided to take a chance with Hillsborough. And although we got there late, the hour or so we spent there was absolutely lovely. The views, the wine, the music, the atmosphere, were refreshing to say the least. The staff could have been a little more helpful, but it was a Sunday, and it was a packed house. I would recommend bringing your own picnic gear, as there isnt much food to choose from. Pear your snacks with their wine, and youre good to go!

This was a beautiful winery situated on the side of a hill overlooking a beautiful valley. Their tasting room is an old stone building with wood beams inside. Quite a wonderful environment to sample their wines, which are also excellent. They have many events throughout the year to attend where they bring in outside vendors and music. They also have an excellent outdoor seating area where you can sit and enjoy your wine and the view. Wonderful winery, highly recommended!

Adorable, intimate vineyard with stunning views, perched up on a hill above the valley, with plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy it all. We are getting married there this summer & unlimited free wine tastings up until the time of the wedding is a neat little perk. (I only wish the outdoor chairs were those cute little white wooden ones for weddings...it would be the finishing touch to the whole look of this French countryside type venue...hint hint)! :)

Have enjoyed Hillborough Vineyards since 2003- always a great place to take friends as we begin or end a wine tasting Saturday tour. Owners are super - make you feel at home. Wine is excellent- have belonged to their club for several years. Sipping a glass of wine, looking out at the valley- heavenly. Love the stone buildings as well. Enjoyed the Italian dinner and dancing a few years back and it was heaven on a warm Saturday eve.

Terrible wines. Friendliness and service was non existent. Went on a week day and no one was there and the tasting clerk was more interested in washing the glasses than serving us. The wine master / owner came by and couldnt even say hello. Even if the wine was good I wouldnt buy any.

Me and my husbands favorite local winery. They have a excellent selection and the gals working the tasting room our always friendly. Nothing beats sitting on thier beautiful outdoor patio, watching the sunset while drinking a nice white merlot. Simple the best Vinyard in the area!

Beautiful view and inviting atmosphere. The women serving our wines was fantastic and very knowledgeable about everything available. All the wines we tried we enjoyed greatly, very different from most other places and a great experience. Will definitely be returning!

A staff member that I spoke with had a very "I am higher then thou" attitude and I did not feel welcomed by this staff member. The facilities are beautiful and welcoming, but I do not think I would return again unless the attitude was different.

This winery has a great variety of popular and tastey wines. The staff is always kind and attentive. The view is among the best in the region. Whether you like reds, whites or rose, they might just have something done very well.

Great view of the mountains, but $15 for a tasting and only get to try 5 of the wines, most places you get 6 or 7 for $10. Wasnt very impressed with any of the wines when we went, whites were very sweet and bitter.
