I am SO ANGRY with UNIVERSITY MALL THEATRES (on Braddock Rd, near George Mason University), I could SPIT NAILS!!! If I could give them ZERO stars, I would!!!! Took my daughter to see a movie as a birthday treat. Couldnt remember if this was one of those theatres that was insanely cold, so I brought both of our skating club jackets in with me, which she put down next to her. After we headed out the door to drive to skating practice, I realized that wed left the two jackets behind. She picks up her phone, looks up the number, and calls the theatre to ask if theyd found the jackets. All of the sudden, I hear her burst into tears and say "Why?? WHY??" I couldnt understand what she was trying to say, and I was completely freaked out that she was crying so much, so I pulled into a parking lot and took the phone from her. I couldnt hear anyone on the phone, so I hung up, and asked her what was wrong. Turns out, the man that answered the phone TOLD HER THAT HED SOLD THE TWO JACKETS!!!!!! Who the HELL tells a 9yo that he sold her jacket?!?!?!?!?!? At this point, shes sobbing uncontrollably, because shes convinced that hes actually done this, despite my saying that theres no way he could have actually sold them. (Apparently, he sounded "very serious" about having sold them on the phone). Since I couldnt hear anyone, I hung up and redialed her phone and got the man on the phone........I asked him how he could say something like that to my child. His answer "Well, she sounded a lot older!" ARE YOU FING KIDDING ME?!?!?!??!?!?! Who CARES how old she sounds?!?!?!?!? Why the hell would you say something like that to ANYONE?!?!?!?! Who makes a stupid joke like that?!?!?!?! I told him "You never know who is on the other end of the phone.....and now my child is beating herself up over having left the two jackets, and you decided to play a joke. Your reasoning behind it being ok is that she sounds OLDER??? Am I supposed to apologize for having a mature child?!?!?!?!?" I told them we were on the way back to pick up the jackets, and my daughter tells me she doesnt want to go into the theatre because shes afraid they actually DID sell the jackets. I told her I wanted the man to SEE what he did to her and that he needed to apologize to her. We walked in, and the three teenagers that were working when we left were standing there, looking very sheepish. One of them said "Are you here for the jackets?" and I told her we were. She handed them to me without saying anything. I asked if they had anything to say about the 9yo who was still crying and what had been done to her. They said "It was the owner who said it to her, not us!" AS IF THAT MADE IT OK!!!!!!!!!! To add insult to injury, the owner couldnt muster the professionalism, maturity, or BALLS to come out and face me himself!!! And I know he was still there, and I know he heard me, because his car was in the lot (he has personalized tags), and the door to his office was open, lights on. I said that I was absolutely horrified that someone would say something like that at all, and their response was "Thats just how he is.....it was only a joke!" Im sorry...if you own a business, its your RESPONSIBILITY to take care of the people who PAY YOU.....thats what customers do! This is a privately owned theatre, so the profits are going into his pockets, not some corporations. For him not to have the COMMON COURTESY to face me and my child, is reprehensible!!! His way of apologizing was to try and give us movie passes.......as if Id EVER set foot in there again when he didnt have the GUTS to face us!!! The owner of the theatre should be ASHAMED of himself for his behavior......and I wont stop telling people what he did......So, I say "THANKS" to him for RUINING my daughters birthday......I hope hes proud of himself!!

Im really disappointed with this theater and management. I actually donated $500. earlier in the year to this theater in a recent KickStarter fund raiser. They promised in return: "HOLLYWOOD AGENT: If you chip in five hundred dollars we will send you a personal thank you email, put your name on the screen, give you Three FREE movie passes, send you Three FREE Combos, FREE popcorn refills in 2015, FREE Movie ID for 2015, AND well create a special five second long film clip thanking you (or your business) which we will play before every single movie ($750 Value) for a whole month!" It took them months to send out the Free Movie ID. I never received the three movie passes, or the three Combos. And I never was notified or provided the five second long film clip to be shown before every single movie for a whole month. Definitely feel ripped off. My recent visit for a 9.40pm movie was disappointing. Their popcorn is horrible now and after just 20 minutes in to the movie I went to get my free popcorn refill and the concession stand was closed for the night.

As one other reviewer noted, its not a new cineplex but a good theater with comfy seats, its true, however they have upgrade their sound and their projector to a digital system. More importantly the University Mall Theatres has made it affordable to for families and couples to go to the movies again. They have a date night special for couples for $16.00, and for that you get 2 tickets, a large tube of popcorn and 2 large sodas or any drink of your choice. $16.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I recently went to a "regular" first run theatre in the evening and paid $12.00 for one ticket and $5.00 for a small popcorn... UMT is value personified!!!!!

Authentic "old timey" theater. If you want a classic American experience that wont break the bank, rather than the latest 4D Imax, this is your theater. Make sure to visit on "Two Buck Tuesday" when tickets are discounted (check for current pricing.) Their kids concession kit is a steal, and includes popcorn, a drink, and a cute little toy, all in an adorable little lap-tray. At this theater, you can afford to bring your whole family, splurge on treats, and still have money left over for groceries, which can conveniently be picked up at the Giant right in the same shopping center. Park around back to get to the theater entrance.

$2 Tuesday is a great time to go to the movies with family and friends although its service and cleaniness is on the lower end. Even if you go other then a Tuesday, its prices are still very low. One negative side is that it shows movies that have already been out for months. Another bad side is that the theatre is pretty small so you are often crowded with other people. Also, the location is in a place where it is pretty hard to see, as I discovered this theatre only by going on the other side of the shopping mall, oppisite of the road. Overall, I give it an Above Average score because of the prices. :)

A 4-screen second-run movie theatre that shows movies that have left the first-run theatres; very popular titles are sometimes still running here when theyre released on DVD. Tickets cost $4. The seats and general appearance of the theatre are somewhat worn, but the viewing quality is good (the "please silence your phone" film snippets are very worn, but the movies themselves are fine). Concessions are basic; you can get popcorn, candy, and sodas. Its great for seeing movies you missed but wanted to see on a big screen, or for movies that you didnt feel were worth a full-price ticket.
