I should have left when I was told that AMC wouldnt accept my Starplex Groupon (strike 1). Instead my wife and I went on to watch a movie. Once I sat down, the floor lighting was not angled downward properly, and the LED lights were right in our eyes, causing us to shield it for the majority of the show (strike 2). I knew we should have left when the previews began to freeze and they ended up just starting the movie (foul ball, as the movie starting early was a benefit). Sure enough, about half way thru the movie it started to freeze and ended up stopping for a few seconds before continuing (strike 3). After the movie i got in line behind the others who were also complaining. The manager said hed look into it, so I stopped him and told him about the lighting issue, to which he said that it was not possible to turn them off. I tried to explain the difference, and he said hed be right back. 3 minutes later he returned, saying that the lighting couldnt be turned off (same as before), and offering me 2 tickets valid for popcorn and a drink. This time I used a visual aid (flashlight) and showed him the difference between indirect (light on the floor) and direct lighting (shining the light in his eyes). He again apologized for the inconvenience. I put the tickets on the bar and left. Goodbye AMC.

Nice, new cinema, but 2 complaints: 1) the SEATS- I dont really care that they dont recline, but the problem is that the seats cause you to have to sit bolt straight up. I guess I just have bad posture, but when I watch a movie, I like to get comfortable and slouch or at least sit back a bit. I dont want to sit straight up, and the head cushion is so big that my head was pushed forward into an uncomfortable angle- after a while my neck started hurting. Cushioning is nice, but I have never been so uncomfortable during a movie. 2) RESERVED SEATING- I can see how this could be useful at times, but we were cutting it close to get to our movie on time and even though there were only 2 people/parties in front of us in line to buy tickets, it took 6 minutes for us to get to the counter. One man was in front of us had two kids and they had a 3 minute discussion over which particular seats they wanted. The movie we were seeing had been out a while, and we went during the week, so it wasnt crowded, but Im thinking on a Friday night or an opening weekend that you cant get there early enough. I cant imagine how long it would take for hundreds of people to choose seats. This theater certainly would not be my first choice (or even second) to go to again to see a movie.

Terrible experience, and terrible service. I walked into the movie theatre and my seat along with the floor was soaking wet. THEN, the movie didnt start so we had to call the theatre to have someone come start the movie. THEN when I went to refill my popcorn I had to stand in line for 30 minutes, while the workers had absolutely NO sense of urgency. She then would not refil my popcorn even though I am a rewards member. So now, I spent all this money on popcorn, didnt get a refil, and then missed 30 minutes of the movie I paid for. When I asked to speak to the general manager Jenn, she was extremely rude and unhelpful. Not to mention she had 4 staff members standing around doing nothing while the line to get popcorn was out the door. Jenn was extremely rude and not helpful at all. How that lady got the job is insane. DO NOT GO HERE. Worst movie experience Ive ever had and huge waste of time and money.

I would normally give this theater 5 stars. Tonight they get one. When I purchased my tickets for Ghost in a Shell, they were for auditorium 2, which is what was listed on Fandango. However, when we got to the theater, we were in auditorium 7. I went down to try and change our seats, but the staff was not helpful at all. They told me to contact Fandango, which I did, but then Fandango told me to contact the theater. I am highly disappointed in both entities. Anyway, I now have a jacked up neck because we were sitting closer and on the side of a 3D movie. Here is the kicker though, the theater was not crowded at all. So, I dont understand why nobody would take the time to help.

Well AMC, Ive officially gone to your theaters for the last time. You should thank your employees at Starplex Cinema in Ashburn, VA. Not only did they play a 3D Civil War rather than 2D, but their solution was to just hand out 3D glasses because they, and I quote, "didnt know how to change the movie." My wife and a friend there both have medical conditions that preclude them from watching 3D movies. The solution? Give us our money back and offer free popcorn and drink for the next time we come? Why on Earth would we go back to such blatant incompetence shortly after your CEO wanted to allow texting in movies and had to back peddle like an idiot?

I was given the first row seating. I am not sure how the theater gets away with it. The first row is so close to the screen you cant actually see the screen properly. They said you can recline your seats. Unfortunately the viewing angle exceeds the screens optimal angle so everything looks washed out. I cant believe they charge people for front row seats this bad. I would have given it a one star but when I complained, they gave my family different seats except we were dispersed across the hall. It seems they are used to such complaints because they didnt seem at all surprised to see me again asking to switch seats.

Loved everything about it until at 8:35 I went to the bar for drinks but was told - by who I assume was a manager and happened to be sitting chatting it up with the bartender - that the bar was closed. According to the other employees (who were happy to serve food) the bar closes when the manager decides it does. I stopped to ask him on my way back into the movie what would happen if I came to a 9:00 or later movie on this particular day and he said theyll just have to do without drinks. Guess that means the bar here is open until the manager decides hes ready to call it a day - thirsty patrons be damned.
