Not a bad free tour, age limit inside, no photos inside tour area. Yes there is a $35 (2016) behind the scenes tour that PROVIDES free steel toe shoes that fits over what you are wearing. You get to keep the orange vest and Steel Toe Tour badge. If you are a Harley nut, I bet its great. $35 each.. a bits expensive. The free tour is straight, no water or bathroom breaks. Wife decided not to go even though the offer wheelchairs. You do walk by a bathroom on the trip. You are required to wear an earpiece as it is a very noisy factory. You can ask questions but, again its noisy and better get close to the tour person to ask. The headsets on ear only , so you cant talk to guide via headset. LONG walk, an hour or more, no sitting. Would be interesting to see if they are: Union, pay wages per job, what happens to pay when they shut down for retooling. Assembly line is interesting with robots all over and how they install an engine in one minute, then moves to install this, then that. They do say employees move every few days to get rid of boredom ! It take you from sheet metal, to first test run, to on the skid for shipping. Interesting, Japan is biggest buyers of H-D ! ! I guess you can only buy H-D stuff with "tour" on it at this store. Every H-D store had most of the gift shop stuff. CALL and confirm they are open. They do close for weeks for retooling, model change. The first video you see is pretty crappy (knew that stuff), the free "history" area is OK. There are two bikes you can climb and get a photo. Get there early (10 am) and be prepared to wait. Steel Toe tour is best to "pre-order". Lots of H-D bikes in the lot by guests. Lots of other stuff to do in York, PA. Hotels range from $90 - $240 a night. Our $94 per night had indoor pool and jacuzzi, free breakfast, king bed in top name hotel. Pricing also depends on seasonal rates.

Bought a new 2014 FXDC. Have had the bike for sometime but havent rode much. Have had the bike out lately and noticed SEVERAL FACTORY FLAWS IN THE PAINT ON BOTH FENDERS AND TANK. Orange peel down the sides of rear fender, orange peel on the sides of the tank, and the worst is the front fender, orange peel so bad you can actually feel and see two large "fisheyes" in the clear coat. Harley-Davidson refuses to do nothing as the warranty is expired. Aside from the factory flaws the bike is perfect, not one scratch or dent. The bike has been babied since day 1, the flaws in the paint have nothing to do with wear and tear or neglect. They are poor workmanship, poor quality control from the factory. Never thought in a million years I would need to go over a new bike with a fine toothed comb looking for paint flaws, especially on a almost $15k Harley-Davidson. People who purchase Harley-Davidson products expect a bit more from their bikes than the competition. But, Harley-Davidson has proven there is no reason to pay the premium for their motorcycles. I am not alone check the forums, plenty of people noticing the same poor painted finishes on Harley-Davidson motorcycles.

Any modern manufacturing plant is a really interesting tour. If you are into motorcycles, this one is extra interesting. Very well produced tour through the plant. I am not a Harley rider, so I wasnt as enthralled as those who have drank the kool-aid. It was almost more fun watching the glassy eyed riders who acted as if they were at mecca. No offense to you but it is just another brand of motorcycle, not the 2nd coming. I do realize that that sense of pride is what Harley is really selling and I admire their success at the marketing. I did really enjoy the ride here and did enjoy the tour and seeing the plethora of nice bikes in the parking lot. There is bike parking right by the entrance, which a lot of people miss. I parked in the prime spot, about 10 feet from the door to the tours. I would recommend the tour, just keep it in perspective.

Booked the steel toe tour for what I thought would be a nice thing in our trip for my husband. I was wrong .. ..I enjoyed it as much if not more than he did. We toured at 12noon 9/13/16 with Don. He was excellent....very knowledgeable about the bikes being built. But he got us to areas as they were working and not on break. He was terrific at answering questions. Ok to those of you reading this post Rob who runs the tour center does an excellent job but read the website info first. I cant tell you how ill prepared some folks were and to watch them get a bit riled was almost amusing. Dont be THOSE people..... read the directions first ....then come tour.....it will make your tour actually happen and keep you safe. He and his staff are not rude or impatient; there are rules and they want you safe.

The steel toe tour will amaze you if youre a motorcycle fan or not. This was a very interesting place to visit. Not only do you get to see a place that employees thousands of people, but you also get to witness modern manaufacting in progress. This place is gigantic and they use every inch of it to build their motorcycles. We watched in awe as Robotic lifts transported each vehicle all throughout the assembly line. Yooull get to witness the motorcycle start from an empty frame, weave through dozens of stations as workers attach thousands of pieces, and to the finished product being tested. Its a very cool experience that you should try to see.

Ive visited and toured all three HD manufacturing facilities (the York factory twice) and Ive thoroughly enjoyed each one. The guides and other personnel are always informative and friendly. In reading the other reviews posted here, Im in disbelief about the issues people complain about here. All of the tour times, dates, rules and restrictions are clearly posted on the HD website! Im very appreciative of HD for making these free tours available to the public and am planning another visit soon!

took the "steel toe" tour...awesome experience! our guide, Fred, was very entertaining and informative. If you are a motorcycle enthusiast, you will love this tour. If you have any interest in fabrication and manufacturing processes, you will love this tour. for me, it was well worth the $38 to see how these beautiful machines are assembled and if Im ever in York PA again, I will definitely do the tour...lots to see.

Went to the Factory for a 1:00 tour ( I read the brochure that recommended reservations! ) I got there early enough for a free 10:15 tour also. Well worth it!! Very informative and the Steel toe tour was well worth the money asked! Dont know why others gave poor reviews? Everyone was very friendly and easy to deal with! Just follow the rules and you get quite a enjoyable time!!
