While the Ferry only runs part of the year it is definitely a fun thing to do with friends or the family. The Ferry is an old rotary paddle diesel powered flat hulled wooden frame vessel. It holds about 4 cars and around 20 walk-on pedestrians. I took a group of friends from The Liverpool side to the Millersburg side on out motorcycles. Our group was 12 people and 9 bikes. The Ferry operators loaded a car, out group of bikes and 8-12 walk-on riders. The trip takes about 10mins to cross the river but with loading and unloading times added it takes about 20mins total. The fee to cross is based on the type of vehicle. The price was highest to lowest, trucks, cars, motorcycles, bicycles, and walkers. For us the cost was less than $5 per bike. While it is more of a novelty to ride across on the Ferry; The trip to go from Liverpool to Millersburg driving is almost 50mins whether you go north to Sunbury and cross the bridge there or south to Clarks Ferry/Duncannon to cross the that bridge it is a rather long trip. I live near Liverpool and I use the Ferry to cut travel time during the summer months.

An experience I will never forget! It was definitely worth the extra 40 miles out of our way to add this stop on our trip. Having been on a river ferry before (across the Mississippi River) I knew what to expect and it brought back childhood memories. This is something you should and must do! Only open seasonal and if the river is deep enough.

If you are ever going up 15 or through Millersburg in the summer and have the time, take a trip across the river on the Ferry. It is a fascinating piece of history that is available to us through the hard work of a dedicated bunch of volunteers. This part of the river is beautiful which makes the ride all that much more enjoyable.

Come take a nostalgic trip on the ferry, very stable and comfortable. Looks rickety but totally safe and fun. Lots of history. Been running the same route for 200 yrs this year.

Beautiful area and kept very clean. Next time we actually will take the ferry across! It was hard to know for sure if they were running.

A big part of Millersburg history lives in these 2 boats. Worth the drive for a ride across the mile wide Susquehanna.
