The man who runs this museum has a very interesting collection, but....the place is gross, the display cases have not been cleaned or updated for years. There are dead bugs behind the glass. My son and I were there in March and it was not opened at the posted time. I called and the owner ( who lives next door) said he would open in 15 minutes. I had to call again after about 25 minutes and he opened it and started a wood stove on the main level. The place was freezing cold, a smoke detector was chirping the entire time we were there and when we got down to the basement level, the only exit was chained shut with wood in an x shape further preventing use of the door. I called the fire department to report this. Unless these issues have been corrected, I would advise against going!

Do not let the photo of the building fool you.. This place is amazing and need to be on your places to visit in Gettysberg PA. There is not a lot of civil war artifacts here only a small section. The Mexican American war, World War I, World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War are very well represented the artifacts and displays are amazing, some of the most unique one of a kind items

My boyfriend is a history buff and introduced me to this. Really impressive collection of artifacts from pre civil war to Vietnam War. The artifacts dont have too many captions, but there are a few articles that assist the casual observer. If you know what youre looking at, its a must see. If not, it is novel if not fascinating. FYI - The hours are not always posted correctly.

Fascinating Museum, fascinating owner. If he is free, when you have some time, ask him about his own experiences on and off the battlefield. We greatly enjoyed touring all over Gettysburg, and feel that seeing his collection, and hearing some of his history was priceless.

No fancy displays, this is a private collection that,I assume, doesnt benefit from tax dollars. But that was just fine with me.As someone who has had a lifelong interest in WW 2,this was a great experience for me. Well worth seeing if you are visiting Gettysburg.

I called to ask how much the muesum was and the old man that owns the place answered. He was so rude, ignorant just because I asked if their is a fee. There are plenty of museums in town that are free. Wow Im stunned, what a jerk.

This is one mans personal collection spanning 73 years. Yes the building is outdated but the artifacts inside are 100x more abundant and genuine than even the nearby national military park. A must see for any military buffs.

My 15 year old son and I enjoyed this awesome collection of interesting items and great conversation with the elder gentleman that built it. If you like WWI and WWII items this is a MUST SEE.

Army veterans personal collection - A MUST SEE!! The outside of the building does not reflect the endless artifacts on display.

Staff was nice and the collection was interesting and large. Only complaint/suggestion would be to spruce up the tour.

extremely nasty man running the place, which was a dump.
