We get to our "standard" cabin at the very top of the mountain and right away I knew it wasnt going to be good. The curtains hanging in the cabin looked as old as the cabin and so did the bedding. It was infested with stink bugs and spiders and looked like it hadnt been cleaned in a very long time. Stink bugs crawling everywhere, except the dead ones laying in the bed, on the table, etc. I refused to stay in that cabin, so they send me to a couple other standard cabins to look at and the one had an air conditioner loaded with dead bugs at the bottom, which they can control. They need to fill in all the areas the bugs are getting in. But of course they dont tell you this in their ads because all they want is your money. Their photos are very deceiving. Its pretty bad that you pay a fortune to stay there and then they want to charge you to swim in the lake too. Pure GREED. Then the old guy at the front desk was rude and snotty. So they manage to find us a modern cabin (with no privacy because of all the other cabins that were so close) for 3 nights when we reserved 7, so we had to find another place in the area to stay for the last 4, and you would think that they would offer a discount for all of the running around we had to do. Check in was at 4, but we werent into a cabin until about 7 which means we never got to enjoy that evening. My girlfriend was ready to pass out from the stress and thinking we wouldnt have a place to stay. The lovely ladies at Berkely Cottage Rentals were great and helped us find another place to stay. We have a state park here in PA that doesnt charge you to use their huge lake (anyone from anywhere can come swim for free and it has much easier access), they have much better hiking trails with gorgeous waterfalls and cabins or places to camp. Their name is Ricketts Glen State park and if you havent been there, check it out.

Great place. My kid had a great time. They have lots to do. BEWARE CABINS 1-12 are infested with STINK BUGS.....they were build in the 1930s and have gaps in the windows. I wish someone would of told me. So if you dont like to eat or sleep with Stinkbugs you might not want to rent one of these cabins. Cabins 13- 30 were built in the 1950s and have better windows. The highlights were the lake with sand, paddling, fishing, playground, horseback riding, golf course, and lounge. There is a game room in the basement of the lounge for kids, but 50 % of the game machines were "Out of Order". The air hockey table worked! They did have a Ping Pong Ball table to play and shuffleboard. If we go back, we might rent a room above the lodge instead of a cabin! You live and learn!

Only 100 miles from Falls Church VA-Wash DC area, and it is well worth the beautiful drive Rt 7 to Rt 522. Great BBQ next to the Fish Hatchery before entering the state park. We did 10 things. 3-hour horseback riding, brought our own lunch. Outfitters Rich and Casey Cox were AWESOME, safe and gave us a wonderful birthday memory with our family. Tons of deer everywhere, great trails. We went swimming, fishing, row boating, paddle boating, hiking, drove up to the overlook, cooked out. Great golf course and Wobbly Clay shooting. We want to go there every year from now on. Thank you for a special family retreat.

Do not stay in the cabins!!!!! Very UNCOMFORTABLE!!!!!! The standard cabin we stayed in (cabin #2) was very OLD, smelled bad, and had bugs, dead and alive, everywhere. The rooms are extremely small. So when youre sleeping not only do you have to worry about falling off the kid sizes beds, but you have to worry about creep crawlys on the walls. The bathroom is so small you have to turn your legs sideways to use the toilet and the shower drains so slowly that youre standing in a couple inches of water while you shower. Disgusting! For OVER $100 a night, these cabins are a HUGE RIP OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

We picked Cacapon for our daughters wedding for the natural beauty of the park and its friendly staff. Everyone was very helpful, hard working and accommodating. Our lodge guests found the rooms small, but clean and comfortable. We stayed in a Middle Fork cabin and loved the unique and rustic features like the log beams, iron door latches and giant fireplace. If you are expecting plush luxury, this is not the place for you. But if you want to enjoy nature and be treated like family, please consider this WV Park.

I and 7 other friends spent the weekend at Cacapon State Park. We stayed at one of the large Cabins. I was very impressed with the cabin. Well organized and very clean. Full kitchen, two bathrooms, fire place etc. There are also many amenities, like beach volley, basketball court, tennis courts etc. The lake has a very nice, clean beach. The water was great. You can also do fishing, kayaking, hiking etc. Overall, we really like this place and I would definitely go back.

I booked a room 9-11-16. I have stayed in motels for the last 50 yearrs, and have NEVER stayed in such a horrible room! The smoke detector beeped all night, the air thermostat was burned, no sprinkler system, dirty bathroom floor. Last but certainly the least, the 2nd. bed had no headroom because the ceiling came down almost to the head of the bed. When I reported this at check out, all they said was ( Im sorry ) I gave it one star because it had a roof!

Was this there about a two months ago for a cookout. My daughter loved it there. So I told her wed get a cabin in July. Got on their website to book a cabin they dont or wont let you book one for Fri, Sat. and Sunday or for Sat., Sun. and Monday. I can only get off of work for one day. Cause I havent been at my job long enough for any vacation. So I think it really sucks they dont let ppl rent cabins for a weekend..!!

Beautiful resort except for the restaurant. They have no vegan or vegetarian options and the manager refused to substitute meat based soup for a baked potato. Most of the servers are very nice and try to be accommodating. There is no option to order the salad bar without the soup. Even the tomato soup has chicken stock in it. Not a good place to eat if you are conscious of your health and the environment.

I do not play golf otherwise I would have given it 4.5 Stars. A little old especially the rooms in the lodge however for the area of town that had very little glitz or glamour it was a nice place to stay. The lookout was pretty amazing and the water streams were peaceful. I wouldnt stay again only because there is little to nothing to do in town after 8pm which is not a direct reflection on the resort.

The drive was pleasant and the cabins were beautiful. The parking wasnt as good as I had expected... Only enough room for a couple or few cars. I left late that night to go back to my hotel, since the cabin was my friends, and the gate guard makes you stop and give make of your car with model, plates and time and reason for your visit.
