Beautifully laid out with many places for picnics and BBQs spaced out throughout this park. The beachfront is a sand beach and there is a lot of room to set up your volleyball net. There is a pedestrian path that is shared by cyclists, but it has plenty of space for both. All along the path there are benches spaced out along the waterfront so you can rest and enjoy the view. My wife and I took a nap sitting on one of the benches. It was a pleasant day. The park also boasts trails that lead from an upper parking lot. The paths are steep at times and can be a little bit of a challenge. The trails lead down to a large lower parking lot with a tunnel that goes underneath the train tracks to the beachfront. When I visited there was work being done to the park at the upper parking lot that would improve the eroded easier trails down to the lower parking lot. Infographics explained the project. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I recommend this park. If you are sensitive to sun exposure, there is only light shade few and far between at the beach.

Perhaps not the most convenient park in Seattle to get to, but that may make it all the more appealing for some folks. Know that bussing here is possible, but will involve a pretty hefty trudge down the side of the hill, through wooded paths. The off-leash dog area is about halfway down. Its a little less busy than Alki Beach, but plays host to summer wedding, holiday cookouts, and general mischief. Its also one of the few places the Seattle Police Department are kind enough to give you last call before citing for open containers. Ahem. Dont be a jerk, use a cup. You /will/ needs to reserve tables/cover early, if thats your thing, Be there with the permit and a staple gun around 9 am. Otherwise, bring your own and stake a claim on the beach. The further away from the marina you get (on the south end) the more rocky things get, so take your pick of beach style.

Golden Garden is a lovely local area. The downside is the road is narrow and very incapacitated. It seriously needs repaving. And parking is slim but hidden along the marina and railroad. Be careful of bikers and people crossing the road. The hiking trails are easy as long as you are horizontal. The vertical can be very difficult for self and dog. The beach is very clean and not the typical rocky kind that you find. Star fish and crab are about 10 to 12 inches so quite plentiful. Baby ducks and beautiful pink flowers are abundant in the area during peak season. The closest restaurant with credit card Id The Coney. Otherwise bring cash because the beach restaurant wont take card. There is a large dog park with secure gate. The downside its all dirt so I am hesitant to let my dog run around in there.

Golden Gardens is paradise! In addition to a long sandy beach, there are 2 sand volleyball nets, a playground, trails, plenty of benches, picnic areas and places to have a bond fire on the beach. Every time I am here, rain or shine, there is always people out and about having a great time. Getting in the chilly water is only for the brave of heart (and perhaps those with wetsuits!) but there are often sailboats further out from the shore. On my last visit a Seal stopped by the beach! So be sure to keep your eyes peeled for a special visitor when you visit.

We had our first and last experience at this dog park today. There was an extremely aggressive dog off leash, and even after the dog attacked my dog when my dog tried to sniff this dog the owner still didnt leave the park or even leash the dog. She only leashed this dog after I discovered that her dog in fact punctured the eye of my dog and caused her to pour blood out of her eye. The woman couldnt even apologize for her dogs behavior. If you come here, which I wouldnt recommend, watch every single dog, even if it comes up to your dog first!

A wonderful, out-of-the-way place to visit. Awesome views of the Olympics, especially at sunset. The north end of the park has an estuary with ducks and turtles. Park has a long beach with multiple fire pits (must get there early in the day to reserve one of these). The northern part of the beach is great for beachcombing with plenty of rocks, shells, and driftwood to pick through. Finding a parking space in the lot adjacent to the park is near impossible, but there is an auxiliary lot up the road. Bathrooms are spartan and dirty.

Providing waterfront access away from the city ! The shore approach to the beach has very fine sand, with benches, picnic tables, and a few public bbq grills (bring your own briquettes!) But it is on a first come first serve basis - so have someone come out before the group to reserve a spot. The beach itself can be a little pebbly and the water has seaweed, but go to the point for finer sand and clearer water. There are public bathrooms and a play area for the kids.

Great play structure for the children, volleyball, trees for shade and sandy beach. Public restrooms availbe but I do not recall showers. Parking idea hassle and my family and I got lucky with a couple leaving and we grabbed those front parking spot. If e had fieneds that werent so lucky and had to park in the upper lots and walk down the stairs which isnt bad going down, but more strenuous going back to the car. This is kid friendly day time activity.

Golden Gardens has been one of my favorite places for over 50 years. It doesnt hurt that I can walk there now, though I usually drive, rather than down & up multiple long flights of stairs. I still like the stairs, though. The lower park offers beach walks, paved walks, train-watching. The upper park offers forested trails. At low tide, you can walk to Carkeek Park and points north, but check the tide predictions first - look for "Meadow Point."

Great beach for bonfires and picnics. Sunsets are always picturesque here with a view of the mountains on the other side of the water. If you go during a summer weekend youre bound to see something interesting like a flash DJ set, fire jugglers, or a capoeira match. Youll definitely have to arrive early to secure a firepit. Sometimes you can get away with sandpits, but park rangers will sometimes come around and dump water on your pit.

It really depends on the time of day you come here. In the morning on a weekday no one is around so the serenity of this beautiful place comes through. In the evenings or on a weekend its full of people and if you like that sort of thing, then you should come visit as well. The beauty is still here but there are a ton of people milling about, playing volleyball, going about their business. I prefer it in the quiet times.

Best beach in Seattle! Sand goes back quite a ways, there are fire pits for you to burn wood in, family friendly during the day and a bit of a college party after dark. Water is cold I dont suggest swimming but there is volleyball and plenty of room for other things. If youre arriving on a Friday or Saturday evening plan to get there between 2-3 for good parking and a fire pit. Arriving later risks no parking.
