You have free admission to this museum if you paid for entry at the Seattle Art Museum. Just remember to retain your ticket for dual use and not to exceed a couple of days after seeing the SAM. This museum contained plenty of historical pieces and exhibitions. At the time I visited, there was a Japanese exhibition. Personally, it wasnt my kind of thing. Fortunately, the rest of the museum (70% of the venue) contained things that tickled my senses. There were pieces of Buddhist history (pardon my bias to Wuxia), artifacts from early Chinese history (Shang, Zhou, Han and onwards) and a bit of calligraphy too! Honestly, I am much more Chinese-oriented than Western so this museum was very entertaining. I spent almost two hours here but for an average person, you may only need one. I am unsure if the displays change. The Japanese one is very likely temporary. Refer to my pictures for some tease. ;)

Beautiful art deco architecture and exquisite exhibits! The Asian Art Museum provides a large breadth of historical artifacts from various regions, and modern day pieces ranging from digital prints, to sound recordings, to digital murals. It is a smaller museum, which makes the exhibits more digestible. Great for a weekend morning jaunt, followed by a stroll in gorgeous Volunteer Park afterwards. Definitely worth a visit!

I loved some of the pieces, others I didnt care for. The museum itself doesnt really appeal to me because you have to backtrack to move on to the next exhibit, which means a ton of walking and it can be disruptive. 4 stars though because its in volunteer park, which is a great place to visit especially if youre new to the city or visiting

This was a great place to visit. My family and visiting relatives learned so much about the Asian community in Seattle - so many things I didnt know. We especially enjoyed the tour of the Chinatown area - something I would never do on my own. Its not all that interesting for kids, but overall a good museum, and worth the visit.

This museum isnt huge, but its large enough to display interesting exhibits from both temporary and permanent collections. Its curated well, and complements a leisurely day in lovely Volunteer Park.

Its pretty decent but Im not much of an art aficionado. They bring interesting and new art on a regular basis and on 3rd Thursdays of every month entry is free(expect special exhibits)

The Asian Museum will be undergoing a remodel and is now closed. The exhibition I attended was very interesting and the museums collection of Asian art is worth seeing here.

This place is a gem. The permanent exhibits are delicate, airy, a true testament to the curatorial team behind SAAM. Check it out, then have a fantastic picnic on the lawn.

This place is small but worth the visit as it has some beautiful pieces. It wont take much time and the view of the space needle from in front of the building is pretty.

A decently sized museum where you can expect to spend at least an hour. I went during free museum week in the summer and there was an exhabit featuring Japanese Shibori.

A very nice introduction in Chinese and Japanese art, including both historic and contemporary pieces. Korean works feel sorely underrepresented.

A little of everything Asian. Its a good idea to get a membership, as it takes days to see and appreciate everything.
