Red Lion Hotels have truly gone down hill since they changed from WestCoast Hotels to Red Lion. This property could be a very nice hotel, but it is very obvious the company spends little to no money on up keep and maintenance. The hotel is very run down and way out dated and WAY, WAY, WAY over priced for a room that is far worse than any room you can find at a Super 8. I had a so called "premium" room also, I would have hated to see their standard room after how bad the "premium" room was. The hotel could not even get my reservation right, they misspelled my name and I had reserved a room on a upper floor with a balcony and a view of Capital Lake....instead I was given a ground floor room with a crappy patio and a view of the VERY loud swimming pool. Also, the room I did have was dirty, there was hair in the soap dish and the bathroom was icky and old and the room had a gross chemical/smoke/old moldy smell. The hotels excuse for the wrong room up was, "sorry we are full this weekend, we cannot promise you a room." EXCUSE ME!!!! ISNT THAT WHAT YOUR RESERVATION IS FOR......TO GUARANTEE A ROOM YOU ASKED FOR??? Also ordered room service and even they got my order wrong and they were closed when I tried to call them back to get it fix so I had to stick with something I didnt order. Then i got sick (diarrhea) all night after eating the nasty food I did not even order. I guess the only qualification this hotel and company requires is for you to be a total idiot to work there because when I use to work for this company back when they were WestCoast hotels this stuff never would have been tolerated. Now, I will never step foot in another Red Lion again. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, GO STAY A BEST WESTERN AND EAT AT A DENNEYS AND YOU WILL BE BETTER OFF.....AND NOT SICK!!!!

We paid $200.00 for a king suite here and was very disappointed. The website also didnt say that this particular hotel is under construction so there are boxes and crates of materials everywhere. Also, the site didn’t tell me that I needed to bring my original payment card with me to the Hotel (my Credit card is locked away when I am not using it). So when we went to check in, I was asked for my credit card and even though I put all the info in on the site, they couldn’t run my credit card to pay for the room. Our room was on the basement level of the hotel. It looked nothing like the pictures on the website. The bathroom had mold in it above the shower, the tile around the shower and bath were full of grime, and the bath tub was not cleaned (we found this out the hard way after running bath water then going to sit in it and found it full of dirt and hair from others who had used it before us... yuck). Also, we could not read the AC screen to properly turn on our AC unit. The view out my window was a dumpster. Plus side, bed was comfortable, staff was friendly, breakfast left a lot to be desired but at least it was decent food. Why not call and request a different room? Well it was last minute get-a-way idea for me and my husband. We honestly dropped off our things, got ready for dinner, then went out to dinner. We didn’t get back until late and we were exhausted. Morning breakfast, eggs and bacon were good. Potatoes were dry. Orange juice had knats flying around it. Servers were kind. Only fruit offered were apples and oranges. Had bagels and a toaster for it but the server referred to it as "the slowest toaster in the world". We were disappointed and will probably not come here again.

Red Lion has been a good place to stay. The staff is nice and rooms are clean. The rooms are really big with decent size bathrooms. Recently they changed their breakfast menu though. They no longer offer a buffet in the morning for the guest. You have to order and then wait, which can be some time depending on how busy. They have claimed to upgraded their internet but I can not tell the difference. Offering 100 mbps, but with the amount of rooms they have and the guest that are almost always booked plus hosting events, their internet is always slow. And cuts out periodically. For example in the amount of time it has taken me to write this the Mbps has range from 100 to 17 and with a median of about 50 where it normally sits. The last motel I stayed in offered 300mbps and it was consistent. So if your looking for a place to lay your head and not expect to do paperwork/internet then I would recommend the Red Lion.

I met some out of town colleagues for a breakfast business meeting here Saturday. There were several large groups in the restaurant and it was obvious they were overwhelmed and understaffed. I waited 10 minutes before being greeted. When I finally walked into the middle of the restaurant a server told me to sit anywhere. There was a single clean table for two amid multiple empty dirty tables from parties that had just left. I stood at a dirty table with my colleagues, who had arrived, until someone came and cleared it. Once our order had been taken it was easily 20 minutes before our food arrived, which was fine since we were talking and the view is spectacular. Unfortunately the food was cold and the server forgot to come back with the extra condiments we asked for. She was very busy. The restaurant and bar are beautiful, but if management wont provide adequate staffing to compliment the atmosphere its a lost cause.

This is an old hotel. I would normally rate it 3 stars due to age, lack of adequate updating, no indoor hot tub. Good things: Friendly staff, good food, pet friendly, comfortable beds. I like the soaps and shampoos. Location is convenient to various Facilities in area. The 2 star rating is due to my dissatisfaction with very dirty floors. I spilled some water and my rag looked like this. There was free dirt on the floor also. this extra bothers me since this is a pet friendly facility. How much ick is really on the fake wood floors if they do not wash them? I am adding to my review as I see my picture of the dirty rag that I wiped up my spill with was taken down. It was a white rag nearly completely black wherever it touched the floor. Just saying. Also under the bed had lots of dust.

I have stayed here twice and enjoyed each stay. The rooms are large, have nice bedding, and a very nice set of locally made toiletries and towels. The rooms also have a large LG smart TV, work station, complementary WiFi, and a small fridge and microwave. The work station chairs are horrible and the luggage rack seemed very well used. The toilets are also small and very low profile. The hotel looks strange at first, but offers an outdoor pool, hot tub, coffee bar, bar,z restaurant, and is located near downtown Olympia. Most restaurants are 8-10 minutes away if driving. The hotel also offers a great location for walking and/or going for a run along the water. Overall, the hotel is nice and I will likely stay here every time I come to Olympia.
