I want to have loved it, but we apex about 4:15, having read on a Google that the farm was open until 6. The woman at the ticket desk made no mention to us that the farm would close entirely at 5. We unwittingly paid full price plus purchased feed for the aviary, only to get inside and find it locked. When we finally found the front desk woman walking through (evidently the only employee, and afraid of the geese) she explained that the aviary should still be open. This was at 4:55 and the only time she mentioned the closing time to us. She opened the aviary, where all the parakeets were already hiding inside from the cold weather, just long enough for us to drop our sticks for the birds without even getting near them and leave. I love petting zoos, but I wasnt at all impressed with the sole employee, and I felt very disappointed that she wouldnt even offer a refund for the bird food sticks we had no opportunity to enjoy. Im doubtful Ill be back.

My kids love coming here. Their favorite thing is to go in the chicken coup and pick up the chickens. There isnt a crazy variety of animals to pet but I continue coming back because the animals they do have are well behaved!!! And further well taken care of. Please understand this place offers simple kind of fun, more if a farm atmosphere. Yes there is minimal staff to cover the register, pony ride, shop, and animal maintenance. But the staff is exceptionally helpful and nice. They are very approachable. Occasionally they have different events where there are bounce house or carnival rides etc. As far as the other negative reviews I will agree the hay ride is something you can skip out on. I have done it twice and I dint think I will do it again. You just tour the dirt roads where other farmers keep their horse, etc.

Well theres a couple of fun Parts about going there and there was just one thing that I didnt like. The bird aviary is pretty cool because the birds come right up to you land on your finger and eat the sticks with food on them. Im sure that they are over fed because theres literally thousands of people coming through there all day long with food that these Birds cant resist. That brings me to the one bad thing. When you come into the front gate you have an option of getting a cup of food for the goats. I went ahead and got a cup for a few extra bucks and when I got over to the goats I realize that they were all so fat from everybody feeding them all day long that they didnt want any more food. Every single go there it looked like it was going to pop. Not a very healthy lifestyle. But all in all it was pretty fun

I went alone with my 2 year old. Big open area, wasnt very busy and great prices. After the lady told me where we could go pet the animals I asked about staff being throughout for questions and issues, she said No. I was a bit nervous about this but continued on. We had fun with the small goats and turtles and moved over to the larger goats and sheep. I should have trusted by gut This sheep rammed my son knocking him face first in the dirt. My son was not even near the sheep or petting him. There was no one asking if we were ok or better yet telling us that those animals could do that and may be best not to take 2 year old in that area. Very disappointed in lack of staff and after living here for 20 years and going for the first time, I will honestly say this is my last time.

I had the misfortune of going to enjoy the Haunted Hay Ride with 3 other adults. The price was $30 per person, which we paid with pain! Then we began to have the WORST experience possible! There were so many unsupervised unruly CHILDREN under the age of 18 there. This made the evening a miserable time for all 4 of us! I can honestly say that we will not be back and we will never recommend this event to anyone! Hunt Club seems to be much more interested in the bottom line of making money and not about making certain that the underage patrons are behaving like respectable human beings! These are more than likely the same CHILDREN that have been banned from MacArthur Mall in Norfolk without parents!

I live one mile from the farm and grew up in the Dam Neck area, I have attended every event which the farm has provided, summer camp included, this farm is professionally ran with safety placed number one. As a medic with Va, Bch I have personally been involved with the planning of events. This farm is safe, fun, and full of things to do. I read other ratings about people not liking kids running around so called unsupervised. This is only during the peak time at Halloween. Lots of kids having controlled safe fun, eating tons of candy and being ADHD. I say stop your wining and crying on public sites, nobodys interested in your opinion on how a bunch of kids made your night miserable.

I brought my family to "The Farm" and had to Pay $30 per person. What I noticed was a place that was very poorly managed. The staff were not friendly, not distinguishable from visitors, rude at times and to carnival "carni" for us. I noticed unsafe conditions with electrical and tripping hazards. The actors touched my Daughter twice while we rode the wagon through the woods. More than one actor climbed the wagon and jumped onto the walking surface then jumped off while we were moving nearly landing on people nearby. The dirt road was so dry and dusty that we all needed to use our shirts to cover our mouths. For the price I say just go to Howl-O-Scream for the whole day and stay all night.

I cant believe petting would be this much fun! The staff were all very nice and quick to teach you about the animals. The baby goats will try to charm you out of your entire food cup. Resist the urge! You will find many more really cute and deserving new barnyard friends to share it with. Go in the bird house. The kamikaze parakeets love there new house and are quick to show off for you with near miss flybýs. Spend the dollar to buy a seed stick. The birds will let you touch them and give them kisses! My absolute favorite part was playing with the alpacas. Dont be alarmed if they spit at you - consider it a hug and a handshake.

Incredible place. Been going since I was a kid. Halloween is the best time to go, but they have other events throughout the year as well. For the people complaining about prices and rowdy children well thats life. Hunt Club offers a lot of promotions with local radio stations and other vendors so you can get discounts. And as for the "wild kids", its an outdoor farm not a library. The staff isnt there to babysit so cut them a break. Heck I go a little crazy there and Im in my 30s. Thats what Halloween is about. Its good clean fun and there is nothing wrong with that. Keep up the good work HCF!
