I was extremely disappointed with Birkdale. This was my first experience playing this course and keeping in mind that it was very early in the season (4/25/14) I do not believe that the course can improve enough to get me to go back. The cart paths are in horrible condition, the fairways are filled with gravel and the tee boxes were nothing but dirt. I just purchased new irons and was not comfortable hitting them anywhere on this course. I will say that the greens were the best part of this course and were in good condition.

Birkdale is a very nice course. Staff is professional and very friendly. Course is fair but a challenge for all skill levels. Pace of play was great with greens that were true. A few bunkers needed a little attention due to rain , but cant blame staff for summer rains. Liked course so much, my foursome played 36 in one. We havent had a chance to experience Birkdale together again, but we are all looking for room on our calendars. Thanks for treating everyone as members Birkdale !!!

I spent a weekend here to play golf after flying in from Augusta. Never felt more at home when stepping on a golf course for the first time. General Manager Chris and his Staff have really figured it out when it comes to promoting a fun atmosphere and top notch golf course. Tim Sheffield is a world class golf coach and phenomenal teacher of the swing! He explains everything so that anyone can understand and shows you the right feel. Wish more clubs would follow their lead!

Played here last week with a co-worker. It was a hottttt day to say the least! It had just rained the day before and the greens were a little slower than I had anticipated but nicely kept. I learned to play golf on this course and still love playing it on the regular. With it only being 7 miles from the house, how could I not. Looks better now then it has in awhile, looks like the newer managers have made some headway on upgrading the course and it shows.

Birkdale has consistently worked on upgrading their course over the last few years. Each time we play there it gets better. With a lot of options in the Richmond area for golfers, Birkdale is almost always a good choice. The course has a little of everything, multiple options for teeing, making pace of play reasonable for those that know where they should play from. The staff is friendly and helpful. And I LOVE that they enforce no jeans!

I always enjoy playing this course with our group. One of our guys is a member of both Birkdale & Brandermill. The staff is always very helpful and friendly. Its nice to walk into a pro shop and not feel like you dont matter and theyre there just for the members. Looking to get back on the course within the next few weeks. Play it when you can, youll enjoy it!!

I play this course a lot; it is a very straight forward course that is a lot of fun to play. It can be challenging to every skill level depending on what tee’s you play. The staff is excellent, from that stand point you will not have a better experience anywhere.

A very nice course! A lot of bang for your buck here. Free drink ticket with greens fee is a nice touch. Course doesnt play too difficult to make you mad and not too easy to pad your handicap stats, nice balance of both. Looking forward to playing it again soon.

I play here whenever I get the chance. Staff is very accommodating and easy to talk to. Course is fun, challenging at times, and usually in good shape. Only complaint is the beer cart could use a few more horsepower to get it back around quicker.
