My mom and I made this a spur-of-the-moment stop on our way back to Indiana. Searched wineries on the GPS, and Grayhaven popped up, so we stopped. I prefer sweet reds over drys, but I enjoyed tasting all the wines Grayhaven offered (6-7 total, I think). The staff was nice, and very knowledgeable. Their name, and some of the decor and doorways are inspired by Tolkien. I did not notice the stacks of papers the other reviewer posted, but their back room (where the cash register is) miiiight have been a little cluttery, but their wine is definitely worth making a stop off. :) They have a gift shop, but not a huge selection... yes, the jewelry was very nice, but besides some wine gift bags, there wasnt much in the way of wine themed/Grayhaven products. I suggest adding in some wine inspired jewelry at least. The tasting room has a very welcoming atmosphere when walking in, and we were greeted with a smile. :) I ended up buying a bottle of the Norton Trekker. Would very much like to visit again someday.

The winery was a secluded location, which is expected. The issue was that there was a beautiful sign, but a run down yard in front of what looks like a private residence. There was a small parking sign off to the left indicating a patch of lawn. There was no visible visitor area. We thought we had the wrong place for a moment and attempted to drive and look for the wine tasting entrance or visitor area. There was nothing. Just the private residence, the small parking sign, and a bunch of cars and what looks like run down play ground equipment. We decided not to even go in. Perhaps with a clean up of the grounds it could help the place look more inviting. We could see the vineyard behind the building, but we were not comfortable parking and getting out trying to find the appropriate entrance.

Went by on 12/20/2015. Winery is definitely off the beaten path but well worth the drive. We never would have gone there except for the groupon that we bought. Man what a gem to find. The initial view isnt what you would normally expect from a winery,(its their residence after all) but if you take just a minute to get out of your car you will be pleasantly surprised by the quaintness of the place. We had a wine tasting and cheese platter. Both were most excellent. The owner was very accommodating and very knowledgeable. He and his wife are very passionate about the wine and the process to make it. They have a South African festival that we are going to put on our calendar to attend.

Grayhaven is a little off the beaten path, but well worth the detour. The wine is absolutely delicious, and Im normally very picky about what I like, but there wasnt a single wine that I didnt like... and the sangrias are incredible. Deon was the friendliest and most inviting person Ive ever experienced at a winery, he even stayed open past closing for my girlfriend and I. It is extremely small, but for that reason you get a much more personalized visit than at many of the large vineyards and winerys around Virginia. My girlfriend and I will be stopping by any chance we get when driving between Charlottesville and Richmond.

If your looking to get away, maybe a lil lost in the rolling hills and fields of gum spring, this is the place. Ive stopped by for wine tastings, festivals, and recently my wedding in June of 2016. Beautiful land, beautiful wine, beautiful dogs, beautiful horses, and beautiful people. They are more than happy to host your next event.

Its a beautiful drive to get there. We arrived at what look like a farm with horses in a pasture and it looks very farm looking. I thought the wine tasting was very good. We had a very knowledgeable person behind the counter. Is a great Virginia wine experience definitely recommend you going there to try it out.

This is great local winery in Goochland run by some really fine friendly folks. I have visited the Grayhaven Winery several times, they have the greatest Virginia Wine made right on site from grapes that they grow in their vineyard. Grayhaven hosts several events a year, and its always a good time!

Wasnt terribly impressed with their reds, but their port was very tasty. Small operation, and lovely property, though.
