I generally like Bull Run a lot - I find it to be one of the best layouts in DC, and after the renovation a few years back the conditions have drastically improved. Also, the staff is USUALLY friendly and helpful there when you visit (polite starter, polite pro shop staff, etc.). However, it can struggle with pace of play, to the point where this summer we endured the agony of a 6+ hour round. While they had people on the course, the pace of play never got better, which was frustrating. Our day looked up when a pro came out and gave us two-for-one cards to come back and play, only to realize a few weeks later that they are only valid Monday-Thursday. I called today and spoke with Richard to see if we couldnt honor those cards this weekend, with a promise to spend a lot with the cart girl and make up the difference. I even mentioned the 6+ hour round that got us into this position and the fact that we/I are loyal Bull Run customers and would hope for some sort of middle ground. There wasnt even a discussion; I was simply told no by Richard, which was off-putting. There are tons of places to play in the area - many of them better than Bull Run - and I found the response to my request unacceptable. So, sadly, what once was a very loyal Bull Run customer will take his money to a course where there is a more customer-centric approach, and Id advise anybody who doesnt appreciate slow pace of play (and a club house that does nothing to fix it) not to play here.

On Tuesday of this week I called to secure a tee time for Friday as it looked like perfect weather. I went to the Bull Run website prior and saw that their rate was $50, Monday-Friday, which I thought was somewhat reasonable. When I called to secure my tee time, I asked the woman who took the time to confirm that the rate was $50, which she did. Come Friday, I drive 45 minutes or so to the course (30+ miles) and the gentleman at the counter says the rate is $70. I explain to him that I confirmed on their website and with the woman who took my tee time that the rate was $50, but he didnt seem to care. He said they were charging the "holiday rate" for the Easter weekend. Im sorry, Good Friday is not a "holiday" for which a golf course should be gouging a higher rate out of the customers. If it werent for the fact that it was such a beautiful day and I was afraid we wouldnt be able to walk on somewhere else, I wouldnt have succumbed to their bait and switch. To make it worse, I asked about 4 or 5 different golfers about it and each of them said 1) they thought the rate was $50, and 2) they felt somewhat cheated by it. All of this is a shame, because the course is in fantastic condition and is in a great area. Ill be damned if theyll be getting my business any time soon.

We choose Bull Run for our venue due to how close it was to our home, but it ended up being the perfect choice for so many more reasons. The view of the lake and golf course made a wonderful backdrop for the ceremony and cocktail hour - many of our guests commented on how nice everything looked and how well the venue presented. The staff was amazing. Our Wedding Coordinator, Brittany, went way above and beyond what any reasonable person should have to do. She helped plate foods, she kept our confused selves in line, and she made up for everything the groomsmen and bridemaids werent able to handle (which was a lot!) She even argued with the Brides sisters for us (no easy task) after they started telling people the wrong places to sit. Whenever we needed her for something she was there, and the wedding would not have been the same without her. At one point I was desperately Googling how to properly attach a boutineer using my phone when she appeared out of nowhere and started pinning them on everyone in site. She put up with a lot from the guests and bridal party alike. We would definitely recommend Bull Run for a wedding. The planning, the all-inclusive package, and the coordination were well worth it.

We are here for a junior golf event with our son and requested a spectator cart for an handicapped individual. They proceeded to info us it would cost us $90.00 for the cart. I think that is absolutely ridiculous especially since we have no choice but to ride in order to watch our child. In my opinion I feel that is absolutely taking advantage of someone who has no other choice but to pay. For anyone out there who knows what it is like to not be able to walk you know that is very discriminating to be taken advantage of like that. I feel very disappointed in this course and their policies and ask for anyone who is considering playing here to think twice. I feel like it was an injustice to the handicap community.

I played with three friends on a cold day in November. The experience was very good, however. The golf course was in very good condition and the pace of play was excellent - there was no one in front or behind us. Two of us played the Blue tees and two from the White tees. We all found the course to be appropriate for our skill level. The staff was pleasant and the practice facilities adequate. We all had an enjoyable time and I both recommend and look forward to playing Bull Run again. I am also pleased to see that Bull Run is now part of the Raspberry Golf Trail - a definite plus!

I rather liked this course. The fairways and greens were in very good nick. The Tee boxes much less so. We really like the rural feel and and course layout, good challenges all around. Im really growing to dislike the playing through a housing estate format. The clubhouse was very pleasant and the food excellent. The downside was it needs some hole info either on the signs at the Tee, like a relief map, and a course notes book to give some distance clues, GPS in the carts would be good considering the price. Also if you close the range it limits the facilities - so give a discount!

They made a mistake on our tee times and then demanded we pay an extra $40 dollars. One of our foursome was wearing a mock-turtleneck shirt which they claimed was against the dress code and demanded he buy an overpriced shirt from the pro shop in order to play. Overheard a conversation where they told someone they were going to charge his credit card the full value of the round he had scheduled because he wanted to change tee times for the day after tomorrow. Course was so-so, but the experience before play pretty much ruined the day.

The Good: The course was in good shape and well maintained, good carts, good range balls, good practice area. The Bad: RUDE AND SNOBBY almost everyone there from the proshop staff, the starter, and the regulars/members where just stuck up snobs that made outsiders unwelcome. The course its self was rather boring, most of the holes were very similar and was very little risk/reward shots or having to play for position. Conclusion: I like trying new courses but this is the first and last time I will play there.
