My husband and I had high hopes for Holladay Lions Rec Center, but we were very disappointed. We bought a year pass and started out by going to the gym a few times a week. The main reason I wanted a gym membership here was for the convenient location and to use the pool. The pool is WAY too warm! I absolutely hate it. I would get so hot and lethargic while swimming laps. I dont think the pool should be freezing...but I also dont want to feel like I am swimming in urine. Another problem with the pool is it was CONSTANTLY being shut down and closed for fecal matter. This was VERY frustrating! I understand this is a kid friendly and family centered facility...but the pool was closed almost every week or every other week. It became incredibly annoying. Another problem we had was with the front desk. They were not very helpful or professional. They often couldnt answer our questions. The facility itself is nice and the equipment is pretty good. Sometimes during the day it is very crowded, but I think thats to be expected with any gym. Overall, its not a bad facility but the situations we encountered with the pool were incredibly frustrating. We will not be joining this gym again.

We had a year pass there for a while and absolutely loved it. The weight room is small but functional. The pool and hot tub area is great. Theres basketball courts and I believe they have small aerobics rooms? And also a childcare area. Above the court is a walking/running track. Everything is kept clean and the staff is friendly. We left to go to Vasa, as we wanted to access to a bigger variety of machines and amenities, but truthfully, with the exception of a sauna and steam room, vasa really didnt offer me anything that I wasnt getting at the rec center. The atmosphere in the weight room and locker room is tame. Working out with senior citizens is great. Theyre polite, they dont monopolize the machines or the free weights, and I dont feel like my presence is annoying to them. Somehow theres always space for everyone to use any machine they need, given they have even the smallest amount of patience. Vasa always seemed crowded, even on the days when there was nobody there. We are coming back soon. Excited!

Go to Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center instead, its way better. I had high hopes but was disappointed. They require everyone under the age of 18 to take a mandatory few minute break every hour from the pool. So what ends up happening is all the kids sit on the edge of the pool and wait till they can get back in. The life guards are still there but the kids just cant get in for some reason. They also only let one person go down the larger slide at a time. You have to be over 48 inches tall and can not have your child sit on your lap which didnt make any sense at all to me. The staff was friendly and the facility was small but nice. They just have some very strange rules that take the fun out of what youre doing. The price was a little high as well. They are more expensive than other fitness centers in the area and there is less to do there.

Ill go with 4.8 stars. This rec center has a nice weight and cardio machine room with machines that were updated recently. It also has a good selection of free weights. The center has various exercise classes that take place in a nice spacious, airy room. The center accommodates a wide array of activities, including, but not limited to, basketball, pickleball and indoor track. The employees are very friendly and helpful! The center also has a big indoor pool with a water slide. Much of the pool is shallow, so it is ideal for little kids and/or seniors that want to move around at depths where they can still walk. There is a more limited deep section along with three lanes for lap swimming. The pool is warmer than pools that are dedicated to lap swimming, but Ive got used to swimming laps in the warmer temperature.

Something is always broken, its the hot tub again.and the pool temperature has been cold for the last couple of weeks. The ants in the mens locker room for the last month. The handicap shower stall is still missing the shower head going on two months. The locker room floors nasty dirty especially in the corners.lockers dirty, above lockers havent been cleaned for over a year. Early morning life guards dont believe in cleaning, just sleeping, showing up late.there is still candy remnants still on window seal for the fourth week now.gum smeared on rail to hot tub. What in the world am I spending my money on here?

Honestly I dont get it!! Like some of the reviews like Fred love if you arent satisfied with the faculty go else where for the price and being around a great community. Go to another location rather than put them down and you would give 31/2 stars I doubt that. I think they are great they take care if you the best way possible besides that is an older facilities so if that arent up to your standards go else where. I apologize if offended anyone but Im tired ppl constantly complaining

This is truly one of the best examples of "Democratic Socialism." I love it and feel so grateful we have this wonderful facility in our neighborhood (I live in East Murray). It is such a gathering place. The pickleball is a wonderful addition. I have been going for years. The machines have changed. There is not as much room between them, but this is a good thing. Many, many people use and enjoy this facility. Good place to make new acquaintances too.

I have been swimming the last month at Holladay Lions fitness and Im not very impressed with the cleanliness of the the pool or womens locker room showers. The pool has a liner which is isnt smooth and at the swallow end with my grandson cant keep his balance because of the uneven liner. For the price of a months membership and how busy it usually is I would think that they could keep it up better.

My only problem, with Holiday Lions Rec. Cntr. Which I consider a MAJOR PROBLEM! Is the lifeguards at the pool are too busy socializing to do their job. Watch and protect the people swimming! So if you dare go make sure you know how to swim and your children do to, because my experience has taught me I have to be the lifeguard when swimming there!

While the pool was warmer than many in Salt Lake, I dont think well go back here again. They had very weird rules that weve never run into in any of the rec centers and the staff was not very friendly. I dont recommend this pool. There are many other ones that are more family friendly.

I swim laps in the morning. There are usually 2 swimmers per lane when I go, sometimes more, sometimes less. The water is warm because is set for those with arthritis, so if you swim hard, expect to be quite warm. Nice facility, nice staff.

The lifeguards are the best Ive seen. at holladay the lifeguards are experts in their field they deserve a raise from whatever small a mount the county is paying them now.the staff is nice and always looking to help better the experience.
