My office often holds monthly happy hours at the Mohawk. Its a very laid back venue that has the ability to host concerts and performances as well as a traditional laid-back bar. The place it self is very spacious with outdoor facilities that allows patrons to roam at will. Upstairs is a gaming-lounge area and an outdoor deck thats great for catching a few rays or taking in the downtown lights. I love that Mohawk has a foozball table and a old-school arm wrestling contraption that spurs alcohol-induced performances of masculinity. The drink selection is rather standard: beer, basic liquor, and possibly some wine though Ive never ordered it myself. This is not the place for craft beer or hoitey toitey extreme cocktails. This is a dive bar and expectations should be set as such. A Cool Factor: Take a look at the portraits on the wall. They are all men with facial hair as the owner is a member of the Austin Facial Hair Club. Great past time when youve had a few too many drinks and become a bit spacey. These portraits are pure entertainment!

Im always impressed with the music lineups Mohawk books. Their name painted in red on the brick wall is an Austin staple. And lining up a few hours before a concert is no surprise at this venue. With all the different viewing areas, I like to view from the top floor (rooftop level). This allows me to see the whole stage without squeezing against people. In addition, theres less people on the top floor, which means faster and easier service at the bar. From my experience, try to get into the venue early or else youll be struggling with people to even move an inch. The only complaint I have is the confusion of where Will-Call ticket holders should line up before the concert. Ive spent time lining up in the main entrance line for hours, only to find out that I should have been lining up at the side entrance...minutes before doors open. I just wish that was more organized. Everything else is great.

Is love perfect?!? Definitely not and I dont hold this place to that standard. Mohawk is my absolute favorite venue in town and I love all of its imperfections the same. Ive personally never dated a super model who has a doctorate and makes me laugh all the time but I have been with beautiful women who were smart and funny. Maybe thats why I prefer Mohawk over somewhere like ACL Live. It doesnt attempt to be perfect but its a great place and it has changed for the better over the years. Thats all you can ask for right? Sometimes your view sucks even with the multi levels and sometimes getting to the bar sucks and lets not even mention the bathroom lines at times, but there is charm I tell you, might fine charm!! Though not big enough to house bigger bands, if you stretch your musical range just a little, youll be more than happy to have seen a show here.

Mohawk is my favorite music venue in Austin. Between the great lineup of local and touring bands and the wonderful outdoor stage (balconies!), Mohawk truly embodies the Austin music scene. The audio engineering is also on point, I dont think Ive yet been to a poorly balanced show. Im sure the residents of the condos across the street might disagree with me, but its their own fault for moving there. The venue is small enough to feel intimate but is capable of packing a fair number of people in there thanks to the balcony areas. The inside bar sports an impressive collection of epic bead portraits featuring the employees of Mohawk. Given their dedication to facial hair, youd think they might be named differently.

I like the setup here at Mohawk--once you enter the building, you enter into a courtyard--perfect for a concert. The bar will be on your right and a stage will be right straight in front of you. Theres also another bar(?) located near the top of Mohawk but youll have to climb a few stairs to get there. The people who run this place seem to know what they are doing. Check-ins were quick so there wasnt much of a wait to get admitted for a concert during SXSW week as well as for a job fair in the fall. I cant say much about their menu but it seems to be decently good based on the number of people who purchase drinks. I definitely wouldnt mind coming back in the future.

oh yeah both my friend and I are underage, so what my friend erase the mark, they kick him out and not allow him coming back. Cant they just make another Mark? Like Didnt we pay for the ticket? We were here for the concert and thats all you figure out how to treat guest? Last time we wait for 2 hours until the singer come out doing nothing but smelling weed, thanks God I got out of there early. Dont give me the tough look and speech about responsibility dear manager, last time I saw this strategy was from a greasy putrid dmv staff, and the only difference is that I dont need to go to this bar anymore.

I love the Mohawk for live music! They have all kinds of bands come through. Ive seen The Dodos, Chvrches, Phantomgram! This is one of my favorite venues in Austin because its not a huge arena and the performers are accessible post show. It makes for an intimate atmosphere. Pro tip: They have restrooms upstairs on the right of the stage. The restaurant in the bar area is too tight and opened doors. I have a shy bladder and I dont want to be peeked at! Plenty of bar areas whether youre inside or outside, somebody is there to get you a drink. Highly recommend you check out their calendar.

A premiere music location - they have an indoor and outdoor stage. The outdoor stage is great because theres rooftop terraced seating that gives more people a chance to get a good view. I love the art inside - the classically taken poses are staff dressed up. Drinks arent half bad considering its a music venue and they playfully break the beers into the good, the bad, and the ugly. They usually have numerous acts throughout the night with just one cover fee so you can come and go to bar hop in the area. Just know this place is getting extremely popular so be prepared for a crowd!

The first thought that comes to mind when someone asks me about venues in Austin is Mohawk. Its got just enough character to give it identity while still maintaining the open space for decent capacity shows and really great artists. The performances here are intimate and unforgettable because the crowds that occupy them are typically the crazy fans that tattoo lyrics of their favorite songs on their body and tell you insane stories about the band members personal life. If youre only allowed to see one venue in Austin --- this is the one you should make time for.

I went there last night for the first time with 2 of my friends. We were all enjoying ourselves, laughing and drinking our vodkas. The bartenders were rude, rolling their eyes and being very impatient and it wasnt even busy. Even the people in the crowd were rude. Someone actually told my friend to shut up because she was laughing and having fun. I guess if you are blonde, and cute with a slight sense of style, you arent welcomed here. I grew up in Texas and never have I been to a dive like Mohawk and been treated so badly. Clearly they employ non Texans!
