Latest news from Speakeasy Closing at Midnight. Are you kidding me? You used to be a friendly and comfortable place to relax, take friends and listen to some magical jazz music performed by local artists like Robert Gardiner and Tony Lee. You had a great cocktail menu which is now gone. And now you are getting bartenders acting like Ft. Jackson drill sergeants and kicking customers out at midnight. Are you crazy? You are taking your establishment name literally and backtracking your once good venue to when Columbia was a backwatered Clem Cadidlehopper donkey town. Good luck. Youll need it.

Love this place. Very good atmosphere, quiet enough to have a conversation without disrupting people. Drink prices are some of the fairest around imo for real drinks. Wont find anything here that will kill you for a dollar a shot but the bar is well stocked. Bartenders keep a good conversation even when busy and theres all kinds of different seating and standing areas. I cant comment on jazz because I dont listen to it but its not overly loud or obnoxious. In summary. Love the place.

Meh...just meh...came hear on a Thursday night for live jazz night and was very disappointed with the bar service and 5th rate "live performance." The jazz group probably just was a crappier one, I get that, but the two male bartenders were horrible. It took nearly 15 minutes for us to get our first round when we came in and it wasnt even busy....no excuse on that one. And they didnt even smile or act like they cared. Itd be a hard sell to get me back.

If you like Jazz this is a place for you and its mostly for people 25 and older...Went to Speakeasy on a Friday night with a female and Im glad that I went. Speakeasy is a couples spot or a place to take someone your interested in romantically. They sell wine which is hard to get in 5 points. Its only a few select places that sell wine...Birddog was one of them... I give this place 3 out of 5 beers..

Jazz still lives in this place. They have changed the performance time to 8:30 pm which fits with my scheduled bedtime much better. The grilled salmon here was excellent salad or entre it is cooked to perfection. Any other place in town you will pay twice as much for half the quality. Nice selection of beer made for a magical night.

I like visiting this lounge for the jazz bands that play here. Other than that, the bar has an uncomfortable set up and it perpetually smells sour. The craft cocktails are okay. The whiskey and scotch selection are decent. Honestly, not my favorite place, but I come here for the music.

Fun hangout with great music. Get there early if you want a seat- particularly near the band. Excellent selection of alcohol, complete with very knowledgeable bartenders. Ask for their recommendation and discover a new favorite.

Cool, chill place to hang out most of the time. Beware of the female bartender- she seems to have a bad attitude a lot of the time. And the "$3 cocktail night" is really specific, not that the bartenders will tell you that -_-

Very very cool place, sort of like a fancy hunting lodge or something in the back, minus the dead animals. Interesting mixed drinks. Im not sure where that picture came from, its very obviously not a bar/nighclub.

This used to be my favorite bar in Columbia. It has gone way downhill in the last 2 years. They used to make the best whiskey drinks in Columbia but lately their drinks come out bitter, off, and watered down.

Great place to chill, listen to live music (mostly jazz), and still carry on a conversation. The apps are pretty good here. And the sofas are to die (or at least sleep...lol) for!!!!

Speakeasy is easily one of the best bars in Columbia. From the great bartenders and the good drinks, friends and I usually stop by one a week to relax and enjoy the live music.

I love this place. They always play live jazz on Thursdays and Saturdays at 11pm. Great bartenders that always know how to mix a drink. Reasonably priced. My go to place.

They make an awesome Moscow Mule. Live jazz music some nights, multiple bartenders so wait times are reasonable. Lots of couch seating, or bar stools at a long bar.

Cool spot for sure. They know how to make just about every type of drink really well and everyone is quite friendly. Prices are about average for places like this.

Makes classic cocktails. Jeremy makes amazing Aviators. Authentic speakeasy vibe and sometimes they have a live band. Definitely my new favorite cocktail lounge.

Very nice small bar. They will invite scientists from University to give talks about their research, and how their research change peoples life.
