This park has plenty of wide dirt trails that are clearly marked, without being paved. Its not the kind of pristine, solitary nature experience that is ideal in a hike, but its an easy hike for young kids. For the urban locale, I think they do a pretty good job. The parks wildlife is nothing special. Just commonplace New England fauna like squirrels and robins. I dont think its large enough to attract any more diverse wildlife. The road is pretty much visible from all points. Litter was not bad, but again this is not a deep-woods hike and there are plenty of signs of human activity. I agree with some other posters that dogs (or rather, ignorant owners) can be a problem. I dont know what the leash law is in this area, but I saw a lot of off-leash dogs. In fact, at one point when I was a little off the trail, I heard loud growling huge black dog came toward me aggressively. Luckily I grew up in an area with lots of dogs and know how to behave around a strange dog. But if it had been a young child in my place, they might have panicked or run and the owner would have been no way been able to control this big off-leash dog. The park has a lot of potential but needs to have clear, better enforced regulations about dogs.

I loved this park. I went there in a rainy day in April. Its near the river and you can have a good walk/run and enjoy the scenery. The river is not that nice and smelly, but the park is really nice and the trails are challenging and beautiful. The park has three sections of north (mostly trail and road), middle (lots of trails between lots of trees and plants!), south (nice trails and a pond!). You can easily spend an hour walking different trails and taking awesome pictures! I think the city needs to maintain the park better though. This park has the potential to be a really nice place for residents, tourists and visitors.

The best thing about Blackstone Park that no one mentions is the path for dog walking. The path has been made smaller to protect the hills where dogs like to slide, but it still provides a shady alternative to sidewalk dog walking. If you go down the steps there is access to a wildly wooded area but I dont walk my dog back there during tick season. However, there is a lovely walk along the water that extends onto Gulf Street where many go fishing, birding, and since there are no cars allowed, dogs can run off leash. I live in the City, Blackstone Park is a gift.

Love this place. Great place to run/walk! End to end its about two miles long so if you go round trip you can get a great 4 mile run or walk in. The path is mixed between dirt and concrete so its a lot easier on your legs than running on the road. When its wet it can be impossible to walk in due to the mud but any other times its a great place for a run!

One day Providence will clean up this park and treat it as the gem it should be. Until then, other parks nearby are better. This park has nice trails but is a haven for abuse and is sort of unsafe. Theres an unofficial dog park area that helps to bring normal people here and keep it safer but the amount of dogs really takes it toll on the landscape.

A quiet little park. There are some benches facing the water, and a few short walking trails. Most of the benches are on River Rd, which can be noisy, but there is one bench on Gulf Ave (which isnt a public way) that is more isolated. That particular bench is a great place to read, or simply sit and watch the river.

Great Park, but come on, park is not open 24 hrs. cops gonna roll up on you if you are here after park closes... All parks closed from dusk to dawn thats night time boys and girls...WARM my service puppy and I see it. We got the Medical Card, do you ?.;-) WARM approves this as a great dump spot....

Pretty views of the river. A stretch of road closed off from cars makes exercise safe and enjoyable. Just wish it were longer - the closed off area, and the space in general

My dog loves this park. You can let your dog run free on the trail with other dogs. I love it too! I get plenty of exercise walking the trails.
