This is a pretty great venue! This place is HUGE! And pretty classy. We traveled here for the 16 NEPA (North Eastern PA) Holiday Show, which was a punk rock show. The Menzingers headlined. They were terrific. Actually, there were SIX bands in the entire lineup. Props to the staff for quick teardowns and setups between sets, and also for tending to the never-ending crowd surfing (which was pretty good-natured, but still, be ready and watch out for a shoe in the face if youre going to a show like this). But as for the place itself: spacious hallways, a nice wide stage (and pretty easy to navigate to the front; the drinking area is sectioned off to the side, which probably reduced the density a bit). Theres an upstairs wrap-around balcony, plenty of bathroom stalls, tons of room for merch tables. Water was only 50 cents, which was great. This show was set up for standing room only, my favorite kind of setup. I do believe there are other types of shows that happen here that are seated, as when the curtain behind the stage lifted we could see rows and rows of installed seats facing the stage from the other direction. This place is HUGE! Also, theres a nearby parking garage just a block or two down on Washington that didnt show up on Google Maps that was practically empty. Would definitely go here for more shows.

The Scranton Cultural Center is no misnomer: it is the center of everything of a cultural nature that goes on in the Electric City. Featuring thousands of shows of all kinds since the 1920s when it was built originally as the Masonic Temple of the Scottish Rite and at a time when if you could play Scranton meant your show would make it big in the larger metropolitan cities of New York, Philadelphia, and Atlantic City, the Cultural Center is home to such fine arts organizations as the Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic, the Broadway Theater League, the Civic Ballet of Scranton and the Ballet Theatre of Scranton, among others. From ballerinas to balladeers, the Scranton Cultural Center has toasted them all with friendly usher-volunteers and several different stages to perform on. The Scranton Cultural Center is, and will always remain, the center of artistic beauty in our area.

They should have more free stuff here.. Most events are so expensive and there ticket sales they have an employee who is very dishonest and tried to sell me expensive advance tickets and didnt tell me the regular tickets were not on sale yet.. He led me to believe that the tickets were sold out.. Disgusting just to get a sale.. I bought the tickets I wanted at a great price at the arena a few days after this horrible guy lied to me

One of my most favorite spots in Scranton. I love coming here for Broadway Theater League performances, special events, and community happenings. The building is absolutely breathtaking (and they do free tours on weekends, which is awesome). Theres just something about this place that keeps you coming back. As a wedding venue, its spectacular. Youll be hard pressed to find another place in downtown thats this beautiful and unique.

Have tickets for the 2pm show. Snowing heavily and it is over 1 hour ride in nice weather so we called and they would not refund or voucher for future show of any kind. I have taken my grandkids here a few times and I have been here a few time with my wife. I will never gets tickets here again as the risk of loosing money is not something I am comfortable with. No sympathy from the box office person. Very sad.

Ive been here on many occasions - from my daughters performances, Childrens Library plays and St. Patricks Day celebrations to Broadway shows and international acts (Riverdance) - and have always had a wonderful time. Simply being in this incredible building is an experience. You can feel the history... Be sure to check out the ceiling murals! Fantastic place!!

Ive seen many shows featured at the Scranton Cultural center! Beautiful old building with great acoustics and overall atmosphere. The only downside are the small seats, but thats pretty standard across most theatre locations.

Well, its beautiful. But between the people who run it and the fact that its a Ticketmaster venue, itll probably never live up to its potential.
