...and have really enjoyed Penn Oaks. Theyve added a beautiful patio to the already-fun pub (great place for us to take our three middle-school-and-younger kids), and the number of family-friendly - or, indeed, family-oriented - events has pleased us. At last years summer carnival, our oldest told us, "This was one of the top ten days of my life, including being born!" (That was the same year we spent a week at Disneyworld and he learned to surf, so the carnival had some tough competition!) It can be hard to play golf as a family, but if you play after about 4:30pm, its very doable; even our youngest (6) has managed at least to chip and putt nine holes without our holding up play. My husband has played a lot more golf this year than ever before in his life, and has broken through a couple of playing goals thanks to his greater frequency of play; and even I, playing only a few times this year, still actually finished a couple of rounds without losing more than one ball! We participated a little in the "Wine and Whine" sessions this summer and fall - evening events for (generally non-retired) couples that involve a little teaching session, a little competition, and dinner. They were a good opportunity to get to know other members, and all the members we met were very non-judgmental about my terrible golf. In short, Penn Oaks seems to be making a strong effort to appeal to families and those who cant play golf during weekdays. Nice people, good course!

Penn Oaks is absolutely amazing - they blew us away time and time again when it came to planning our wedding reception. Melissa, the event director, did everything she possibly could to make us feel that this would be OUR DAY and that what we wanted, not what was more convenient, came first. Not only did Penn Oaks provide us a venue for a beautiful, customized, perfect reception, but our wedding day happened to fall on December 19th, the day of the huge snowstorm, and Penn Oaks remained fully staffed and willing to help, even giving us free valet service rather than making people park and walk through the snow. You wouldnt even know it was snowing out because we still had bartenders, wait staff, coat check, as well as Melissa to make sure everything was running smoothly. Everyone smiled throughout the entire day and it was a beautiful wedding and reception. Do not hesitate to book Penn Oaks as your reception venue - you will not be sorry!!

My husband and I were married here in June and it was the most amazing experience. Dawn and Lisa catered to our every need and made the stress of planning a wedding fade away. The reception hall and patio were beautiful and all of the guests could not stop raving about Penn Oaks. The staff made sure to give the bride/groom special attention and we could not have found a more accommodating location. Thank you!!!

We held an outing at Penn Oaks and were thoroughly pleased with the golf course, service and price given. They reacted quickly to all our questions and concerns; we planned the outing in less than 1 month! The course, although off season, was still in great shape. The food was delicious and service outstanding. I wont hesitate to contact them again in the future.Steve took very good care of us.

Not military friendly. We were essentially ready to sign a contract for our wedding reception, and they were all on board until we inquired about a military clause. They sold the date out from under us without warning and only called with a vague apology and no alternatives. If you are military, you would be better off booking somewhere else. Springfield Country Club has been great so far for us!
