Ive outgrown the moshpits I used to enjoy when younger. Thankfully, as soon as we walked in we sought a location in the balcony with a great sightline (the entire upstairs is awesome for views) because the sound quality was great upstairs. We headed downstairs just as the encore began to be able to bolt out when the band finished to avoid the mass of people heading for the main entrance/exit. We almost considered going back upstairs. The sound below was TERRIBLE. All it was was muffled noise and pounding bass. I love to "feel" the music at a show, thats part of the experience, but I need to hear it too. For a band such as Flogging Molly, people are there for the music AND the fun, I pity the people who spent the whole time down below as they heard nothing like we did above. Except for a few smaller clubs that dont cater to my kinds of music, Ive been to every venue in pgh, and many around cleveland as well. This place has great potential and can rival any of them if the capacity works for the crowd—IF they can get the sound right on both floors. I cant wait to see an outdoor show here too. Also, I bought my tickets at the box office weeks ahead of time instead of paying $10 more each for ticketmaster fees. They should consider painting a green line or some other 10minute parking section here like the Civic Arena had near the box office and shop so you dont have to pay a day rate to park for 5 minutes. For that matter, Consol should do the same. Relatively quiet Mario Lemeiux Place isnt 5th Ave, but surely they can find a single spot for box office use.

Stage AE might be the best concert venue Pittsburgh has ever had. The indoor and outdoor options are great. The VIP section indoor is top notch. The facility is normally clean and welcoming. The staff is friendly and courteous. There is rarely a wait in the bathroom. There are interior and exterior on site ATMs. I have but one complaint that caused me to rate service very good and not excellent: What in the world is going on with your sound guys in the mixer? I went to the Social Distortion show last night, and, while a great show by the band, it took the sound guys half the Social D set to figure out the microphones were far to low. We get the VIP seats for every show, and all the people around us were angry about the same thing. At one point, the lead singer pointed at his microphone several times trying to get a stagehand to work on it. Finally some man from the crowd said something and a few songs later, it was somewhat better, but no where near where it should have been. It is a disservice to the great bands that come to Stage AE to be provided such poor sound quality. This is not the first show we have noticed this problem, but it was the most significant of those we have noticed. For the record, it is not every show, but it has been more than one. It would show great dedication to your fans and frequent concert goers if this problem was corrected. If Stage AE is willing to make upgrades on their sound personnel, this would easily be one of the top ten concert venues in the United States.

My family and I went to an outdoor concert at Stage AE this past August 2015. The service was terrible and shameful. The security staff was acting like a bunch of power hungry bullies. Theyre punks. They were yelling at paying customers and threatening them over blankets. They wouldnt allow people to bring blankets so they could sit on something and not get their backsides dirty. If Stage AE doesnt like it then they can supply blankets or cushions for customers to sit on, so they dont get dirty. Theres no reason for this and theres no excuse, nor would they provide an explanation for their behavior. Thankfully the women in my family had hoodies that they sat on so their backsides wouldnt get dirty, no thanks to Stage AE! IF a band that I like comes to town and theyre playing at Stage AE I would consider attending, however I promise Stage AE that if one of their security guards acts like a playground bully or makes one single threat, I will call the police. Stage AE needs to learn their lesson. Other than that I will probably never attend a show at Stage AE again, and I will be passing the word.Their security guards should give their shirts to people to sit on since they arent using them for anything constructive.

I gave Stage AE 1 star only because zero was not an option. You pay so much money to be treated like garbage. The security use their polo shirts as a power trip. You are treated horribly right from the start. I have never felt so belittled as a paying customer in my life. Security detail made an incorrect observation about my purse by saying it had two straps and calling it a back pack so I simply showed her it only had one to which her response was " I dont care, no". UMMM What? It sounds so ridiculous and it was. The way the words were spoken made me feel attacked. Not just the " I dont care,no"but but how I was approached by her when I wasnt even in her security line. I spent too much money for her to take her mistaken observation out on me. So you were wrong....GET OVER IT! Dont waist your time folks. You can follow all of rules and still lose your $70+$20 UBER ride down there+$100 to leave work early for the show you waited months to see. Why? Because the security said so with no explanation needed. Did she not like the way I look perhaps?

The venue structure itself looks pretty nice and the bartenders are friendly and not overly pushy. It would make for a good location for a small convention like maybe in the style of Comic-Con or Anthrocon but the benefits of the site stop there. As a concert venue, which is clearly the main purpose, the designers failed miserably as that vocals sound really bad, almost tinny and undecipherable at times. For instrumentation, its good. But, for the most pat at a concert, you want to hear somebody sing. Second, the location has very little seating which in many cases is not assigned and only the early birds get a spot unless you pay extra. All seats are on the second floor balcony. And in general, its one big free-for-all, totally disorganized. Being a small guy and having gone with a small girl, we couldnt see much other than finding a spot in the bar and literally watching the show from a big screen TV, making the only difference between watching it in your living room and at the site, the people and hearing the music live. Awful venue.

Have attended several concerts at Stage AE, both the indoor and outdoor venues. Because I attend with a person in a wheelchair I see it from that unique perspective. The indoor venue has special seating for those with handicaps, although contacting them when you buy your tickets is recommended. The special seating is convenient, though the railing is at eye-level to those that are seated. If you can see over the railing you have an unobstructed view of the stage. Because of the balcony overhead and wall close behind this area can be a little echoey. The outdoor venue is wide open, though I do not know of any particular seating area for those in wheelchairs. The only outdoor event we have attended at Stage AE we were able to get a spot right in the front with an amazing view. Your results trying this may depend on the crowd in attendance, but The Clarks had a pretty courteous crowd.
