Augusta cant hold a torch to this place. Twelve-thousand yards (27 holes) of pure unadulterated pleasure to be had here. Built in 1928 by hard-working Americans on the property where the Whiskey Rebellion started, it has a classic feel with all the modern comforts a golfer loves. The clubhouse was built by talented Italian masons, and Ive never seen brickwork like this in my life. The employees are friendly, helpful, and theyll happily give you a fresh towel if you ask for one. The grass seed mix (Pennsylvania Bluegrass) was developed by Penn State university experts with Pittsburghs unique climate in mind. The greens roll at consistent speed, and the layout is challenging. The restaurant in the western portion of the clubhouse serves world-class food and has a fine selection of beer and other beverages. The landscaping is impeccable, and the view of the distant rolling hills from the patio is breathtaking. As far as Ive researched, the prices here unbeatable compared to surrounding courses given the quality of play here. Moreover, its at an incredibly convenient location for nearby suburbs, and its an easy drive from Pittsburgh. Its a great course for the serious golfer, the hacker, and the guy just trying to squeeze a round in after work. Theres a variety of mens and womens leagues, including other private leagues if youre looking for friends to play with. A host of public and private tournaments and outings are available, and the competition is minimal. Seriously lol I won thousands of dollars hustling baby-boomers here last year. Scrubs. Anyways, five stars is an understatement. South Park Golf Course. Just do it.

Usually golf here 2-3 times a week due to the location. Will never return after today. 2 5somes and 45 min later only teeing off on the 3rd. Its places like this that are killing the game of golf. When it takes a group 6 shots to reach a short par 5 and nobody to move them along it shows all they want is money and do not know how to manage a golf course. Save your money and nerves and go to any of the other courses in the area. Terrible fairways, shaggy greens, and so much clover youd loses your ball if it falls out of your pocket. What a shame. And the only people who enjoy this course are seniors because they pay 10 bucks.

Ive played this course in the past and enjoyed the layout. But the service there now is nonexistent. I stood in their Pro Shop for about 15 minutes and no one came up to the counter. I did see a man sitting in the back office but his attention was focused in his office as he had not seen or heard me. There mustve been some one since i observed 3 groups of seniors preparing to tee off on the first hole. Oh well this course is not worth my time and money today. Hope someday they will hire someone to manage their ProShop more effectively. If it wasnt that I had enjoyed playing before South Park would have had a zero rating.

The course has nice staff. However, the course is in bad shape the 18 hole course has 2-3 greens that have large dirt patches maybe 4-6 feet wide. The executive nine hole course has no putting green that is the same. All greens have problems like the front and some have more dirt than grass. The fairways are horrible on the 6th hole you can loose a ball in the fairway. The crab grass is that high, the reason I know is I played a high school match and if the kid hadnt been playing a neon yellow ball I dont think we would have found it. If you are going to play here be prepared to have some very bad lies.

They Dont take tee times so u ask if a specific time would be ok with usual traffic. You then show up at the time and find out you cant get on for another 60 minutes( thats if you can even find the gross club house after parking in the pile of rubble they call a parking lot. Greens are terrible fairways look like the rough. The whole place is a dump. No wonder they are cheap but people dont understand its still a rip off because of the headaches they cause. Garbage

Very nice course. Little short, but very deceptive in places. Great place to go catch a quick 9 after work. And the Employees are top notch, just take a minute to BS with them. They are exceptional people. Greens crew works hard to keep up with the very heavily played couse. I heard it is the 2nd most played course in the country.

Great course very friendly staff but the snack bar is a joke. They are NEVER OPEN!!!!! Here watching my son with the FirstTee program and parents would love to buy a snack. They really miss the boat.

If it was possible to give this place a 0 I would. They dont cut their grass and theres no definition between rough first cut and fairway. Wouldnt recommend this course to anyone.

Tee boxes, greens, and fairways are barren more dirt than grass. No rangers to be found, play is at a snails pace. 18 holes typically takes 5 to 6 hours. Staff is friendly.

Not a great place to golf if you are serious. Ok place to practice and get some exercise. Green speeds are underwhelming but course is laid out decently. Service was fast.
