On June 17th 2017, I think I may have had the worst movie experience of my life at this movie theater. I came there by myself to see the 8:15 showing of Wonder Woman. I arrived early to get a good seat and remained there until the movie began. I noticed that it was a little warm in the theater, but I figured that maybe they were going to wait a while before turning the air on, as the auditorium clearly needed an air conditioning temperature adjustment. As the room began to fill, I heard several people comment on the the warm temperature, but I also overheard several people saying that they had been informed that the air conditioning was being addressed and that it would get cooler. After the previews began, finally, one of the ushers made a brief announcement that the air conditioning had been turned on and that it should get cooler. He also said that anyone who wanted a refund could get one. At that point, I did consider leaving, which I probably should have, but I actually believed him, so I stayed. The theater NEVER got any cooler. About half way through the movie, the power went out in the theater. It was only out for a brief moment, but it seemed like the temperature got even worse after the brief power outage. The man sitting next to me, who was obviously a college student from the area removed his shirt. The people in the theater talked, consumed alcoholic beverages, and were on their phones through the entire movie. I cant recommend this movie theater to anyone. Avoid it at all costs. I gave this theater 1 star because it wouldnt let me rate it any lower than that. It was a terrible movie experience.

So there arent that many movie theaters in Philadelphia that is within walking distance from Center City. The two closest would be Riverview UA movies and the Rave at University City (formerly known as The Bridge). Since I came here today, Id thought Id give it a review. So this place is very convenient for people living around center city and for students attending classes in Phillys University City. The Rave Theater is very cozy, and whats great about it is that the seats are very comfortable, there arent usually lines, but if there are, they go quickly, and there are sometimes deals going on (For example, $5 movie ticket for non-premier movies every Thursday). Id definitely come for the experience. There are cons to this theater as well. Coming at the wrong time can be disastrous in a few ways. If its a busy day, it can be SUPER busy and you might be overwhelmed by the number of people waiting to buy tickets. Most of the time, when this happens, a number of showings would be full and you can no longer get tickets for those showings. Another con would be parking. Because it is located in University City, practically right in the middle of Penns campus, it is sometimes extremely difficult to find parking. Id definitely suggest people to come early to find parking and just hang around the area, its very nice. Id also suggest to order tickets beforehand! Pros: awesome environment, very comfortable seating, not usually busy Cons: movie tickets can run out quickly, parking

Since there is a mixed review and some people complains that some of the higher reviews are by people with only 1 reviews made, here is my personal experience with this theater after watching more than a dozen movies here. The movie theater seen an update a few years ago, and overall it is a very nice looking place. Its localed right inside UPENNs campus, so naturally there will be a lot of college students, not something anyone shoulf be surprised about. This could leads to potential problems like noise and what not, but I have personally never had that problem. The security staffs have always been very nicr and so are the ticket people. I have never experienced a problem with them there. One time some guy pushed the door in my face and proceed to say I was blocking him, the staff came over and handled the situation nicely and calm by basically telling us to just move on. The place can get a bit messy/dirty with popcorns, but that is the fault of the audiences. There are cleaning staffs, perhaps a little understaffed, but honestly, the seats are clean, its more so the hallway and bathroom that gets a bit messy... not big deal, Im not living there, just going to watch a movie. The sound is amazing and the seats are comfortable. I would easily recommend this movie theater over all the nearby ones.

Its very sad to say this is one of the best movie theatres in Philadelphia. Its probably true though if you consider that its actually the only one around university city and the only one around center city that shows commercial releases. We went there recently and there was a smoke detector missing batteries that was beeping throughout the movie. It was not easy finding the manager and after a lengthly complain he acknowledged the problem and offered a refund but said they couldnt fix it and did not think that warning future patrons would be necessary. The main reason Im writing this review is that it infuriated me when I saw that, at the time of this writing (6/5/2016), 5 of the first 10 reviews giving 5 stars were written by people that had written a single review (Bianca Robinson; jonte dupre; Steven Reyes; Corey Pack; JaySongz100). I hope google can police these abuses a little better.

My go-to movie theater. Showtimes can sometimes be a little off in comparison to other offerings but you typically wont have a hard time seeing what you want granted its still in theaters. Its a nice small theater thats grown a little over the years typically never fully packed but still sizeable crowds as its near a local college so its a Hotspot for students and regulars alike. Theres a small bar section if that fits your needs during after hour showings other than that its a nice comfortable theater sound systems are typically on Point, screen quality is great. My only complaint is the chairs can be hit or miss some of the seatings can be cramped and overall uncomfortable for a long showing which isnt good because rather than focusing on the movie youre trying to rush it so you can stretch out from being in the seats too long. 4/5 will always go again.

I have never been to this theater past 3:00PM so I really can not speak on the quality of the theater during later in the afternoon, but I can say that during the morning or early afternoon the theater is really nice. It is easily accessible via public transit and I actually really like the theater food here. The bathrooms are clean and so is the overall theater and the movie seats i.e. no spilled drink stickiness all over the floors or garbage in the chairs. When I go, there are very few people in the theater (usually 10 or less) and it is quiet and an overall enjoyable theater experience. So if you are like me and do not like a lot of noise when you are watching your movies, I say wake up as early as possible, find the earliest showing, and go check this theater out!

Nice location, quality screenings, excellent deals and discounts. What it lacks, however, is the ability to enforce the rules placed and accepted across all movie theaters. There have been several occasions where I saw a film, and several phones go off, or a flashlight blinds the second half of the room to search for something fallen, or someone from the audience feels the need to comment on the movie. Not sure if this is a legitimate complaint, since this is somewhat expected, but as a frequent moviegoer Ive never had such a negative experience quite like this. Pretty decent place to see a movie, but be prepared to be disturbed at least once (if not multiple times) during your experience.
