The worst place I have ever been to. There is a rooftop we were on and it was 130 and the VIP section was open. All we did was sit down because our feet hurt and this awful waitress with long curly dark hair came over and rudely demanded we leave. So we all got up and my friend (her birthday) had a plastic cup that someone poured half their beer in for her she said she needed the cup back my friend went to take the sip and she was SCREAMING at her to hurry and finish it. Mind you we werent even drunk or doing anything that would make her act like that just sitting down. Then an officer came over and he was even like cant she just finish the drink real quick. And the girl was like no! So she grabbed my friends arm like she was a child ripped the cup away and shoved her down "because it wasnt her cup" the officer then made us leave because of how the waitress acted. Even though he was nice to us he should not of protected the waitress like that. You cannot attack costumers. My friend has bruises from being grabbed. If it was me being grabbed I would of tried to press chargers. Lucky for this awful waitress my friends a little nicer then I.... I will never ever return knowing that the waitresses can assult costumers. We spend a lot of money here and did not deserve that treatment.

I used to love coming to Velvet Dog and have been here several times. Recently I have been denied entry upon presenting my out of state issued drivers license, although there hasnt been issues before when I used the same exact ID. The bouncer proceeded to publicly humiliate me in front my friends and curious onlookers. He claimed my ID was fake and almost threw it away so I could not find it. When the organizer of the private party pressed further to explain why I was denied entry, the bouncer said that it was a private establishment and he can deny access to whoever he wants. I am offended and I find this behavior disgraceful. TL;DR I would not recommend this establishment to anyone unless they enjoy being treated like garbage. If I could give 0 or negative stars, I would.

We had a great evening after the Browns game against the Steelers. Unfortunately I left my cell phone at the table we were sitting at. One of the employees turned the cell phone into the manager and held it for me. I emailed the manager (email on website page) to see when I could get the phone. They made arrangements with me to pick it up despite the fact they were closed until the following weekend. I thought this was awesome that someone was honest and turned my IPhone 5 in and they made arrangements for me to get it. We have always enjoyed going to the Velvet Dog and this situation just made it an even better establishment. Its always good to go somewhere fun and not worry about being safe. Hats off to Velvet Dog and their staff.

I drove over an hour here last night to meet up with my cousin who was already inside celebrating her birthday. When I got to the door, the bouncer refused to even look at my ID. (Im 29) When I asked to speak to the manager, his response was, "I am the manager." Extremely disappointed with the rude service/staff, and the waste of a drive to come to your establishment. Customer service skills are essential in the real world and I think they need to be reviewed with your bouncing staff. Thank you.

I have to say velvet dog was a good place for good music and up scale people, pleasure to be around. Now the place has became a dive. It kind of smells and has became a pick up place. If you are looking for a pick up place that is the place to go. But if youre looking for something nice I would say no. Back in the 80s. The Flats was the place to be all the clubs where fabulous. I do not recommend this place but that is in my opinion. Since I am older now, its way to noisy

Marie was an awesome host and Velvet Dogs rooftop the perfect backdrop for my brothers 30th. They were there to greet us and bring us to our table. The service was spot on and quick! From start of planning all the way through until the last drink served, I couldnt have asked for a more pleasant experience. It was truly the perfect end to our already long day of celebrating. I cannot wait until our next party.

The Dj is not good. He isnt terrible, but his music selection feels outdated rather than throwback, he lacks basic mixing skills, and does not transition well between tempos, flows and genres. He kills the vibe constantly, and has a hard time reading the audience. It felt like a bad bedroom Dj playing music for a BBQ.

The drinks are ok here, and the place has a good vibe to it. That and the rooftop patio, when its open (come on we are in Cleveland here and the weather is only good for the rooftop like 3 months of the year) is awesome. And its a relatively large club and the music is pretty good.

Ive had past run ins with the security there that were obviously discriminating upon me because of race (not dress) but now theyve gotten more lax but downtown is just too wild at times anyway.

This place isnt anything. The decor is terrible! Watered down drinks and high prices, and for what? Cover charge for what? They try to act like this place is all that. NOT! What a joke!

We love it here.! The Manager and Staff were very nice and professional. We even met people from Pittsburgh & New York City who wanted to check out "the dog".! Woof-Woof.!

Too packed to get a drink. The downstairs is too well lit. Lines are very long. Music choice is decent. Upstairs is more laid back but the sound system sucks.

I visited the Velvet Dog this past weekend and was appalled with the behavior of your bouncer. Needless to say, I will NEVER come back.
