So I placed an order online thinking I would get there and have my food waiting, turns out they dont have an online ordering system which was apparently added by a third party vendor without their authorization(?). So easy enough to excuse since the bartender was friendly offered me a glass of water while I waited, apologized and promptly placed my order. I received my Portabella Mushroom sandwich that sounded delicious and was asked if I wanted fries with it, I kind of assumed at $8.50 fries would be included but apparently I assumed wrong they are an additional $2.00 so I had to cancel them as I had $10 on me for what I thought was an $8.50 order. I seriously wouldnt have uttered a bad word had the $8.50 Portabella Mushroom sandwich been even half as good as it sounded on the menu but sadly it was pretty much inedible! The whole thing was clumsy, greasy, and poorly executed. I was really surprised at how greasy it was. It was like a plain mushroom with warm mayo (no garlic in the aioli) on 2 grilled and greasy slabs of multi grain bread. No seasoning whatsoever not even a hint of salt let alone anything else redeeming. I really wish I had turned around and walked out after they said my online order wasnt received, McDonalds sadly would have been less greasy and disgusting and at least priced reasonably and I am not a McDonalds fan so kind of tells you the level of food they serve..........Skip it if you want anything resembling edible food.

Incompetent hostess on Sundays for brunch. Went to the BB&T for a Sunday brunch without reservations(mistake, I know but I thought maybe we would get lucky). We get there at 11:30 and there are a few people in the waiting area and the hostess tells us it will be about 10 minutes for our group of three. I figure, sweet we can wait 10 minutes. 30 minutes later we are still waiting and people are coming and going in front of us(people with and without reservations) and any time we asked the hostess what was going on we couldnt get a straight answer and she would disappear for 10+ minutes at a time. After an HOUR we left and went to IHOP. Thing is, if she couldve just told me it would be a while for our wait I wouldnt have a problem. But if you tell me ten minutes and its been over an hour, you obviously dont know how to do your job. Plus, no offer of an apology or explanation from her.....find a new hostess BB&T and maybe Ill come back and try your brunch(this time making sure to call ahead).

Just went to see ultravox front man/solo artist Midge Ure who gave a great show. Pleasantly surprised by Beachland Ballroom. Nice looking front. Avg entrance but main show area was clean with hardwood floors and nice artistry on the ceiling. Did not go into the bar area. There are some table and chairs off to the left of the show room. Have not been to a concert in a while but felt it was difficult to discern voices on the sides - in the middle much better. Most park on the street which is well-lighted. I parked in a public parking area that is not as well lighted but many did park here as well and felt reasonably safe but would be better to go in at least a pair. would go again. fyi - I had to fill in a rating for food but did not partake and only service was the person who was collecting/selling tix who was pleasant enough.

Very limited parking at the venue but you can pretty quickly find street parking. This place is a bar/restaurant/music venue so a review of one area of the business may not reflect the other areas. I havent used the bar enough to be able to comment. I have only been to the restaurant for brunch which has a good trendy selection of meals with average execution. Ive always been annoyed because its one of the only brunch spots that does their dishes with only one egg in a meal. Then they charge way too much to add a second egg. The bloody Mary menu is really good :) The music venue is great for its size. The stage is pretty high so its easy to see the show from anywhere in the ballroom. The place is an old cultural club or ballroom of some variety and it has the nestalgic charm to go with it.

Cool place with friendly and attentive employees. However the SOUND stinks. I am a professional musician of 30 years experience and the PA is set up totally wrong for this venue. If you are up front expect to hear nothing but sludge as there are no top or side fills for the audience and the PA is BEHIND you. If you stand back half way in the venue you might be able to get a good mix but sine the venue is nothing but a big open room you probably wont be able to SEE. A small cost would give them the top or side fills and make this THE place to see anyone. They have good music acts that deserve to be heard. The Tavern sometimes has acts and the sound there is bad as well. Find a new sound company.

Its a nice venue, dont get me wrong, but it did not have the right set up for the show my friend and I saw. We were there for the Suicide Girls Blackheart Burlesque and everyone was packed into the room which was standing only unless you paid out the nose for seating up front which consisted of your basic fold out chairs. My friend and I are shorter so we had to try and make our way through to stand next to the chairs so we could see. At one point we were almost pushed into the laps of one of the people sitting down. It was overcrowded for a comfortable show to say the least. Thankfully the show made up for part of the misery.

Went to see The Bernie Worrell Orchestra May 13th. I liked the venue. Good sized room. Bernie has a great band but it was impossible to enjoy them as The Beachlands sound man ruined the show. I have been a gigging rock musician for years, have seen just about every band you can think of and I have never heard a show with the sound level this high. My wife puked from the headache she got from it. If you plan on seeing a band here, ask if the same sound guy that did Bernies show is doing the sound and if it is, bring the earplugs because you will need them.

When this place opened up it was a much needed injection to not only the Collinwood area but the local music scene as well. I grew up just a couple streets away and am so glad to see how the Beachland revitalized Waterloo. Ive seen some of the best shows ever here and had some really great times whether if it was a national act or a local band. The food here is really good too and the menu has something for everyone. Not what Id expect from a concert venue. I prefer shows in the tavern to the ballroom just because of the intimate setting.

-Small but intimate venue -Attached tavern (didnt visit) -Small bar attached to performance room - beer expectedly pricey -Sound good close to stage - some reviews complain about sound, its possible in some parts of the room but I didnt experience it -Lighting so-so, not so good in some areas of the stage - weird stage shape, forces weird band equipment setup -Fun atmosphere if you can handle the energy it takes to stand in a small crowded room and listen to loud music for a couple hours
